In the second half of a home-and-home series with Pittsburgh, goaltender Roger Crozier overcomes stomach problems from the day before to make 24 saves in the Sabres' 4-1 win over the Penguins in front of 15,668 at the Aud. Crozier had to leave the game the day before at the Igloo ? the Sabres rallied from a 3-1 deficit to end up in a 3-3 tie. The three points in four games put the Sabres back in fourth place in the eight-team Eastern Division, one point ahead of the Detroit Red Wings for the final playoff spot.
