The Sabres and Scouts combine for 41 shots in one period, another record. February 2, 1984 A 5-3 loss at Boston Garden ends the Sabres' 10-game winning streak on the road and their 13-game unbeaten streak overall. The unbeaten streak dies one game short of the franchise record of 14 set in 1980. February 2, 1994 Dominik Hasek's streak of 29 straight starts comes to an end in the swamplands of New Jersey as Grant Fuhr tends goal in a 3-2 win over the Devils. In late November, Fuhr had aggravated his knee injury from the previous spring's playoffs. During the streak, which saw the Sabres go from four games under .500 to one game over it, Hasek gave up only 29 goals, earned five shutouts and got a nickname ? The Dominator. But despite all that, with the return of Fuhr, Hasek's status was still unclear. "We've got two number-one goaltenders," said coach and GM John Muckler. "I'm going to be the most second-guessed coach in the National Hockey League." In the weeks that followed, Hasek and Fuhr shared playing time, but it was thought the Sabres were showcasing Fuhr to the rest of the league.
