  1. Agree, 100%. Making the playoffs would be invaluable experience for this young core, IMO, and would go a long way towards advancing KA's 'plan'. There is patience and then there is 'KA patience'. This franchise has wandered in the wilderness for far too long. I'm all for building this thing the right way and...that will include more than a modicum of patience to accomplish...but at what point will he decide that it's time for the training wheels to come off? I don't need any splashy moves this deadline...nor do I think there will be any...and I will wait (what choice do I have?) to see if he does anything significant this off-season before passing judgement and moving beyond frustrated. My biggest issue with him to this point, other than not acquiring at least a consistent and serviceable goaltender the last couple of years, is the seemingly arrogant and naive notion that every draft pick he has or will acquire is going to hit and become a major contributor for this squad. We all know it doesn't work that way. This team is as close as it's been to the playoffs in a generation and KA should have done all he could to make it happen without sacrificing the future. That was more than doable with some of the abundant draft capital he has acquired but what's done is done...or is that what wasn't done? Either way, show me something this off-season, KA. The 'hope tank' is far from empty but could use some more fuel this coming summer.
  2. When I was a kid, I remember my dad taking the family there in the '70s. He loved it. Seemed like the weck was as big as my head but that's from the perspective of a then child. 😉 I went there for the first time last July and loved the wings and the weck. I loved Grevey's. Went there on occasion to see the Bills and take in the atmosphere, especially before the arrival of DirecTV and the Sunday Ticket, since it was only a couple of hours up the road from me. Sadly, it closed for good several years ago. I have yet to make it to Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon, VA but it's been on my 'to do' list forever. It's another 'Buffalo bar'.
  3. "EX-TERM-IN-ATE, EX-TERM-IN-ATE!!"
  4. I had the 'responsible' grandmother. We always got clothes from her...socks, underwear, shirts, pants...because, as she said, "your parents already got you toys and sports equipment". She wasn't wrong and it's easy to understand the logic as an adult but the 10-year old me was crushed nonetheless when I saw that box from Sidey's or the JCPenney catalog. At least they were new though...and the Sabres were good then. 😂 🍻
  5. Right. The 'filler' gifts for volume. Only here, the socks are the main gift not the filler gift. No stick, no Nikes. 😉
  6. Today feels like being a 10-year old kid on Christmas Eve... ...only to wake up the next morning to nothing but a pack of white tube socks under the tree. 😀 🥱 💤 😕
  7. Teams would be able to beat him to the glove side for sure...
  8. It's both of you...obviously.
  9. Yep, no margin for error with the way all of the other playoff hopefuls are playing. Gotta get the points against teams like these. Nice game for Krebs...2 points and a +2. Nice game by Mitts, as well. Fun watch save for that frustrating three goal Anaheim spurt in the 2nd.
  10. Just the kind of 'get right' game this squad needed.
  11. Cozens adds the extra point!
  12. Getting a little chippy here at the end.
  13. Skinner almost sniped one and then draws the penalty.
  14. Looked totally different once I saw it again in slo-mo. Looked like a knuckler that fluttered into the net. lol
  15. I'm pretty sure he turned 61 a few months back. FWIW, he said he's not "retiring" but will be doing a few other things that are not on-air and sports related. He's "retiring" from Buffalo sports radio on March 3rd but will still be doing something within the community, I guess. I believe they have hinted at Joe D sliding into Howard's vacated chair. He works well with Jeremy, IMO, and now becomes the 'young gun' to Jeremy's 'old guy' even though Jeremy is in his early 40s which is hardly old (at least to me). Sorry to disappoint you but they said that he will still be doing 'Howard Picks The Bills' on Tuesdays during the Bills' season. I like Howard and hope he enjoys the new chapter on the horizon in his life, whatever that may be. Posted this earlier on TBD in the 'Howard Simon "Winding down" from WGR' thread: "WGR gets a lot of criticism on these boards. Some is deserved, some is not. To each his, her, or their own. We don't all like the same things. Personally, I like Howard and Jeremy and thought they work(ed) well together. Howard is like your favorite pair of old, ratty shoes...not flashy or stylish and probably garners some strange looks from others but oddly comforting and soothing once you slip them on. It will be strange not hearing him anymore but, apparently, he will still be coming on air during Bills season for 'Howard Picks The Bills'. Life goes on. I hope he enjoys his retirement as everyone should if/when given the chance. Thanks for the memories, Howard."
  16. As a lifelong diehard of the Bills, Sabres, & Mets I would have been six feet under long ago without a sense of humor to sustain me. I was also a devoted fan of the Buffalo Braves for the entirety of their short existence. The NBA has been dead to me since the Braves were so cruelly taken. While I like the NFL, NHL, & MLB, I find that the older I get, the more 'team-centric' I get as opposed to being a fan of the leagues they are in, if that makes sense. So I am now more a fan of my individual teams than the leagues themselves even though I love the individual sports of football, hockey, & baseball. Also, SDS has done a phenomenal job with this site and with TBD which is why they are my 'go to' sources for team info and fan interaction. There are no places I'd rather be when rejoicing over the victories, commiserating over the losses, or just shooting the bull. I'm on both sites almost daily even though I read more than I post. Whether I agree or not, I enjoy seeing the varying points of view over our common bond, the Buffalo Sabres. 🍻
  17. Something tells me that's a very short drive. 😁 Exactly. It's also been disheartening to see them getting little to no help from other teams during this extended down time. Oh, well... Let's get it.
  18. Noted (see above). 😉 I don't believe there is a Sabre fan currently paying attention to this team who thinks that garbage fantasy proposal is even remotely good. Dude was getting flamed so badly that he stopped replying/trying to defend his indefensible position about halfway thru the comments. What a delusional dolt.
  19. I believe that. Same as stubbing your toe. Not funny to the victim but funny to others. Either way, Adams would have to be chump of the year to actually think that is a good proposal for the Sabres. He's not a chump.
  20. I don't find it humorous when I throw up a little in my mouth...
  21. When did Andy Reid become a Sabres goalie prospect?
