  1. Millbank I still wish both teams could be good at the same time... create a real rilvalry... what are your thoughts on the Leaf D, can they hold up in the playoffs or are they prone to too many hiccups.

I think the Leafs are still two years away from competing with the best teams. The goalie has been amazing . Without him they would be life and death to make the playoffs. Playing for the Marlies are a few very good young players who will be in the defence mix for many years. I don’t see them making it out of the first round this year.

I see the Sabres made a big signing today . I believe the rivalry will become meaningful again soon . Still think there are issues with the mix of players on the Sabres and it’s on the Gm to do his best to clean it up

  2. They can get to 72. That won't happen, but 2 W's over the Loafs (in their barn), 1 over the Otters, & a split down in FLA gets them to 66, find 1 more W to get to 68. Pathetic, but FAR better than 58-60 & it still gives them any pick from 1-7.

Come on Ullmark, backstop the way. Eichel, show Matthews how it's done. Reinhart, show why you were chosen 6 picks ahead of Nylander. Ristolainen, continue to whack that weasel Kadri every chance you get.

    #### the mother ####### Loafs right up the ###. No ####### team records for those pricks tonight.

Easy on my poor Leafs we are sensitive

  3. I agree completely. This game by Andersson is one of the reasons I wrote what I did about him.

Baloo would be better about 20 lbs heavier, but you could see tonight why Jbot acquired him.

Reinhart is finally blossoming into the player we hope we drafted.

Regarding the Leafs goalie he has been all season long their most valuable player. Without him they would be fighting for a playoff spot.

  4. Interesting. I wonder what the long-term Corsi/Fenwick #s are for playoff matchups.

Also interesting IMHO that a long-time Leafs fan (and Toronto resident? is that right millbank?) has this impression.

My Home is Stratford Ontario ????

And I do also root for the Sabres , just not against the Leafs. ????

  5. The Sabres have a disfunctional dressing room . The new coach and team do not have a hope in hell until it’s cleaned up. That is on the general manager. Clearly his task is to rid team of underperforming players and somehow do it in a fashion he is not giving them away for nothing. Being at all fair that is a most difficult task

  6. Let’s just see what happens at trade deadline and going forward into next season

There have been enough comments about the toxic nature of this teams dressing room that both new coach and General Manager inherited, its not just idle gossip .

Lets hope the GM will do his job and just maybe the Coach will have opportunity to work with more than a dysfunctional mess .

  7. I watched quite a bit of that game.

At one point scoring chances where in favor of the CBJ 20 to 10. I couldn't believe CBJ was down a goal when the announcer said that. Toronto looked.... not good.

But they won. Some nice solo plays by a few players on Toronto was the difference, especially the goalie.

Games against these teams were said to be a measuring stick. It’s clear while the Leafs have made great improvement they are still easily two years from competing against the top teams. With the playoff structure as it is . It should be no surprise if this season they are a first round out. Hopefully the management will stay on course keep their young their future is ahead not now
