I hope not. I want them to add a veteran 2-way 3C in the off season and if Krebs stays as 4th that's fine but Krebs as 3C isn't good enough imo.
Neither was Mitts until he was! Just sayin........

The Byram trade looks good right now. It will look better when we get a good replacement for Mitts on the roster, we have the assets to do it. Or they can give the job the Krebs and wait for him to be ready for it, which I prefer not to do when are sitting on a pile of tradable assets.
The Greenway trade has always looked good. The Clifton signing too (you forgot that one). Give us more of this Adams.
Robinson? Yeah he plays hard but really, I find praising the GM for this acquisition to be grasping.
Adams is going on year 5 and you have 3 names, I gave you a fourth.
You ask, besides the last off season and the Quinn injury, where has he gone wrong? Maybe its best if we just ignore the standings, or the attendance figures, or the overall perception of this team throughout the league, and just look forward.
No sense in dwelling on the past. Adams has the luxury of another off season to BUILD a team.
The bolded is not worth responding to.
Thanks for your opinion. I didn’t forget the Clifton trade, I don’t think it has panned out as well as what was hoped.

^ start there. By all means be happy with whatever metrics for progress you want divorced from the what they rest of the league measures by but do not outwardly mock those that actually want success. You are literally sarcastically mocking fans in the middle of a 13 year drought, as if it’s absurd we want to actually win.
Let me get this straight, you and others can mock fans for opinions you don’t agree with, but others can’t do it back to you. Interesting. Gaslighting? That’s cute. Seeing how this is a forum and you obviously have no problem expressing your opinions, I will continue to express mine, sarcastically and as mockingly as I like. I believe the Sabres are on the right path and that KA is building the team in the right way! I’m not as convinced that Donny is the right coach, but we will see. Go Sabres, HUGE game tonight!

It’s going to be tough, but the fact that we are even talking about this midway through March is kind of fun. More importantly, my 2 kids snatched up my four tickets for tomorrow night and are super excited to go. That is all I really care about. I actually really wanted to go to that game, so thanks for the invite kids, thanks for nothin 😂
My son son grabbed my two seats for tomorrow as well! It's great to see the young fans excited about the team again! Cheers to you for providing that opportunity for your children!

That was a fun game to watch start to finish. What was funny was that you could feel there was a ton of Detroit fans there as the place was very quiet most of the night. LOL Nice to see Buffalo skating hard and charging the net. That possesion where they hemmed Detroit in their own end for over a minute was incredible! Hope they can do that nightly. If they can do that against the Isles i will really be impressed!!
I was at the game last night, there were a ton of Detroit fans there. With that said, the place was anything but quiet! It was electric and the fans were very engaged in the game and vocal!! Amazing game to be at given the importance of it and the fan intensity matched that!! Great win!!!

So removing Mitts, Okposo and EJ and replacing them with Byram, Jost and Olofsson has improved the Sabres pace of play. What we saw last night is similar to what we saw last season. I think they need to maintain this style and add players like Savoie and Kulich and could really become a team that plays fast. They may need to supplement the roster with some faster bottom 6 players.
I agree, except for Olofsson. Unless he's scoring, he's horrible and does nothing else to foster winning. Can't wait until he and his 4+ million dollar annual contract are gone! Jost plays hard, fast and shows a ton of grit. Love him in the 4C role and as you stated, definitely helps the pace of play! BB is very impressive and his addition has made everyone on the team better!

Boy that Bo Byram trade sure seems to be helping out greatly! And look that garbage trade for Greeny seems to be paying dividends as well, who knew? Also, that irrelevant trade for Robinson seems to have provided a nice 4th line player with speed, hustle, and grit, shocker! Albeit KA's lack of moves last summer hurt (especially after the Quinn injury), besides that, where has he gone wrong again? Oh wait, bc I'm not old and bitter I don't want to win now. I'm not educated on hockey, or I'm just a "passive" fan.

13 hours ago, Derrico said:I’m sure others must have also been to the season ticket holder Q and A with Kevin Adams and Donny tonight.
Quick summary of what I got from it:
* They intend to stay the course and want most of the teams progress to come from within. Young guys need to take the next step and be given opportunity.
*They both talked very highly of Krebs and there’s no doubt they want him to be the 3C
*They are likely looking to bring in a vet 4C.
*KA feels goaltending is a strength of the team. Sounds like they would be happy with UPL and Levi next year
*I did hear KA say how badly he wants to win. I know it’s all the usual talk but I really needed to hear it directly. I’m glad he said it.
*Very irritating hearing Donny talk about how great last years team was at scoring. How much better they are getting at D this season and continuing to hear the word progress. Regressing in the standings this year does not feel like progress. It’s tough listening to the leaders of the organization feel like they have. I know there are aspects where they have. It’s not all doom and gloom but nearing the end of a disappointing season where we will likely miss the playoffs for a 13 straight season is not exactly what I want to hear right now.*It was good the Sabres put this on. Didn’t love all I heard but atleast I did get to hear them directly. Pizza logs weren’t bad either.
Thank you Derrico for starting this thread. I too was in attendance last night. I was also there last year and without a doubt, went into this B&G with a bad taste in my mouth, hopeful not to hear the same message as last year. While I agree with some of your summary, I walked away with a different perspective. Also, I would like to add some comments by KA and DG that were left out.
- KA was asked what his biggest mistake has been since he arrived here. He didn't dodge the question and stated that he thought it would have been much easier to attain "buy in" by the players and organization. He said that it was harder than expected and therefor people and players had to go. We all know who left.
-KA said when he got here, the Sabres were in shambles. They no money, bad contracts, and no prospects. He believes is building from within and has built up the prospect pool to the best in the league. He also said, he would 100 percent trade any of those prospects now for the right player, who would help us win now! Much different than the message he conveyed last year.
- They think very highly of Krebs. Stated he thinks about 2/3 yrs ago about Mitts, everyone was ready to write him off. Now look where he is. They both feel Krebs is in the same place and ready to breakout, especially being more with Dahlin, Bo and Power as the 3rd line C. When Krebs has been with them, he has driven the line and his offensive game has shown through. They expect more of that going forward.
- They are extremely high on Bo Byram. They feel he will take pressure and minutes off of Dahlin. They have been looking for another 1st pair D and are very happy that Mitts has developed into the player that was able to be traded for a player of Bo's caliber. KA made reference to the fact that 2/3 years ago, no one would expected the development that occurred with Mitts. KA felt that with the injuries to Tuch, TNT, and Skinne over the last 2 seasons, Mitts was pushed up lines and we/he saw the benefits of being with Dmen like Dalhs, Bo, and Power who drive lines and push transitions up ice and keep pucks on the sticks of the forwards. Now that they have Bo, we will see more of it. Scoring will come back, but maybe look a little different with Dalhs, Bo and Power (developing) being more offensive Dmen. KA believes in building from the defense forward. That wasn't stated in the B&G (it was inferred), but he has stated that previously.
- KA believes goaltending is a strength and will only get stronger.
- Towards the end of the B&G, taking questions from the audience, 2 fans were very critical of both KA and DG. They stating views that are common among STH and this board. Both KA and DG took the critiques professionally, but IMO couldn't hide the fact that they took the slights personally. KA stated no one is working harder towards the goal of winning now and having sustainable winning going forward he he and DG. In their closing statements, DG's comments showed a great deal of passion. Everyone in the room could see how annoyed he was by the previous comments and he directed his comments specifically to them at times. He passionately reiterated that the club is looking to win now, moving in the right direction, a sustained winning team is coming, will be here for awhile, and that he guaranteed more wins and scoring are coming.
That is the best unbiased summary I can give. I left there a little more confident in the direction of the team than when I arrived. I am still upset at the lack of movement last summer showed by KA. I believe we should have made a move for a veteran goalie and we definitely should have made a move for a forward once Quinn went down. With that said, both are 1st timers in the respective roles, which was a concern most identified when they both were hired. Meaning, there was bound to be a learning curve and most fans are not in the mood for a learning curve when the playoff drought has been as long as it has been. That's neither here nor there now, what I can say is that IMO KA has this organization in the best spot it has been in in 13 years! I like DG, but if he doesn't produce a winning product next season, he will need to go sooner than later. I apologize for the long read, but I wanted to try and convey all the information and pulse of the B&G for those who couldn't attended. BIG WEEK THIS WEEK, 3-0! Go Sabres!

I don’t appreciate your comments and names, and you are mistaken. My comments are consistent - I don’t think we can evaluate this trade until Adams finishes his off season move. Hardly chicken little.
In summary: The trade created a sizable hole at center. They got younger on defense - potential salary issues when Byram is up. They still lack a certain big physical presence on defense. They have more work to do on this roster.
You simply cannot comprehend. Put me on ignore and do us both a favor.
Grow up. I've already apologized. I guess I should take offense to you calling me ignorant. I don't though, as you're entitled to your opinion. I can take people disagreeing with me without taking offense. Continuing with the topic at hand, I look forward to seeing what Krebs can do in the 3C role with better playmakers than what he has had centering the 4th line. I also believe that Mitts will be missed, but as most have stated in this forum, a change was needed to be made. Hopefully it was the right move. Time will tell!

You say he isn’t a second line center, but he will be fine. Make up your mind. We need two centers. A 4C and a guy that can play 2/3C.
If Cozens can hold a 2C slot that’s great. When Cozens plays with Quinn and Peterka he looks like a 2C to me. Other times he doesn’t.
You wanna start name calling? Stop responding to me if you are going to do that.
First of all, I used the "Chicken Little" remark as you make it seem like the sky is falling! That is all. Second, I posed the question, "Cozens isn't a second line center?" Hence the question mark. If the the "Chicken Little" remark offended you, I'm truly sorry. I hope you can get over it, it wasn't intended to offend.

So far, this trade made a bigger hole than what it filled. I think more acquisitions must happen.
We need two more centers. A 4C and a 2/3C. I do not see our prospects pool having NHL ready centers next season.
Our defense with EJ out, Byram in just got younger
Bo Dahlin
Power Muel
Johnson Clifton
Joker Bryson.
Cozens isn't a 2nd line center? I realize he is having an off year, but he'll be fine! Ease up Chicken Little!

Truth be told I almost threw my phone against the wall when I heard this. That said, it has been mentioned at nauseum on this board that the Sabre's need to shake up the core, as the current group is soft and lackadaisical. Well, here's a real hockey trade that definitely does that and brings in what a majority of the pundits think is an established, young defensive stud! You can't have it both ways. You can't B***H that KA never makes any moves and then when he does, continue to B***H. I realize the drought we are in, I'm a STH who has already reupped again! WE, JOE SIX PACK, aren't privy to what is going on daily, and we shouldn't be. Calling KA a liar is ridiculous. He should show us all his card? That's moronic! That's not how it works in any business. Is it puzzling that we have so many LHD, yep. A stud is a stud though! He is young with playoff, Stanley Cup winning experience! I'm choosing to give this trade a chance, instead of being constantly negative! Some on this thread think they know more than they do and need to take a breath and take a step back. Give it some time and see how it pans out, you might be surprised! Worst case scenario, it doesn't work and you'll have more things to B***H about! Go Sabres!!!
