38 goalies have played 20 games this year. He ranks 14th among them in GAA and 14th in SV%

To my eyes, he whiffed in the 5-1 loss Dec. 13 to Colorado, the Nov. 11 6-4 loss in St. Louis and the Nov. 3 5-1 loss to Philly.

All 3 of those games the team got off to terrible starts and he didn't have their backs.

His other 17 starts he's been good enough to give his team a chance to win.

To me, his play this year qualifies as the "good enough" goaltending most of us did not think he was capable of and were hoping Adams would step outside the organization this summer to acquire.

Really interested to see if those trends continue this morning.

This is the kind of moment in the season where UPL historically would serve up a dud.

I wouldn't call it a defining moment, more of a signpost, but significant nonetheless in his bid to shed that 'inconsistent' label.

His stats aren't other worldly, but he's been significantly better.

The Sabres make the playoffs last year  if UPL played to his current stats.

He’s not getting ***** traded.  This topic is garbage.  It should be deleted.  Every 5th post is some Johnny come lately espousing their insight into Jordan Greenway.  We get it.  We all feel the same way.  ***** disgraceful topic.  Pick actual topics about things that may actually happen.  Not some fantasy land BS that we all know isn’t going to happen.

This guy is absurdly long line at the grocery store mad

Deadline things might be interesting in a few places. Will Pittsburgh give it up and sell? Will Philly actually buy? Can top teams find new ways to use LTIR and cheat on the cap (Boston, Toronto, Vegas etc.). Sabres should be sellers though. What they sell is another matter.

The Sabres should buy and sell. Crappy trade for first round picks is why they're where they're at.

Even if the playoffs are out of reach, you can still bolster the roster for next year

This makes me think about the Mitts contract thread and the idea of trading a center if Mitts wants top dollars.

Perhaps the Sabres want to evaluate Mitts in that 2C role and then field offers for Cozens if they sign Mitts to that money?

But more likely it's just because that line hasn't been as good lately and Cozens hasn't been that good so shake it up and see what happens.

Clearly, we should beat Chicago, we should be rested and ready to go, but with this team who knows?

I wouldn't mind a big trade sending Cozens or Mittlestadt. Or Granato being canned

Looking back, trading ROR away was absolutely disastrous for the team. It led to that core collapsing, Botterill being fired, and an additional 6 years (and counting) in the wilderness since. How one could look at that trade and not call it terrible is beyond me. You are just guessing with no real logical backing that keeping a good player wouldn’t have mattered. Whereas, we KNOW we’ve been terrible since and we KNOW the lack of forward depth led to the collapse of that roster, Eichel and Reinhart and Ullmark leaving, and the lack of depth we still see today: because we are still in the process of rebuilding

Your argument respectfully isn’t a very good one. “They didn’t do anything here so it doesn’t matter that we dealt them.” By the same logic we can trade Tage today because we haven’t amounted to a single playoff berth with him. This is what you are actually arguing: worst case scenario is that we are bad once we move him, right? Which, as you laid out in your argument makes the trade inconsequential, as we merely maintain the status quo. No harm no foul. You can see once broken down like this it doesn’t make any sense.

When will people learn and except it’s the *collection* of talent and about building depth, and a team?  “We never won anything with Eichel and ROR”. You mean, when Eichel was 18-20 years old and we were literally recovering from a scorched earth tank?

    Be serious for a minute

I label it as a bad trade immediately because Ryan O'Reilly was a great player on a bad team and won a cup as soon as he got traded. What have the Sabres done? Nothing.

Cup win > no playoffs = lost the trade

Not only that, why do you have to trade a guy that says he losing his love for the game? Why is the only answer to get rid of him immediately? Why couldn't Botteril work with him to try to ease his discomfort? Maybe he did, I'm not sure. But O'Reilly wasn't wrong. The team was highly dysfunctional.

It all starts at the top and unfortunately nothing has changed

I don't think Tampa Bay would have any interest in this deal imo, he is one of their best 2 way forwards and they're vying for the playoffs. Dylan Cozens would be a massive downgrade just to save a few million bucks.

Probably look to trade with a team ready to tear it down is the more realistic option.
