This was a nice run early from Motor, helped set the tone

I hope that one of their goals over the next two games, other than winning, is continuing to develop this sudden running attack we have seemingly stumbled upon.

I’m glad to see the Sabres fanbase isn’t making the same mistakes with Power as they did with Dahlin by creating unrealistic expectations.  🙄

After following the Sabres through a desert of malaise the last few years, I'll latch onto any positive development, even if it bleeds into overreaction. Will Owen Power translate to the NHL? I have no idea. All I do know is that he's in our pipeline and that fills me with hope.  Right now, hope is all I've got, even if it's that of a fool.

  3. What a gut check performance from this team. I am so proud of them. Allen played at an MVP level, spread it out from the start, and made plays out of nothing. The defense got a lot of penetration today which helped. It didn't appear that Mac Jones was expecting it. The last ten quarters of football show that the Bills may be peaking at the right time.

I'd start with the Bruins.  Next come the Leafs and Habs.  Then the Sens.  Then Philly.  Then Pittsburgh.  After that, I don't really have strong feelings one way or the other.  Bruins and Habs are old Adams Division rivals and have always been in the Sabres' division.  The Leafs were in the old Adams Division with Buffalo in the 70s, but then were not in the Sabres' division for a long time (from 1981-1998).  The Sens have been in the Sabres' division most or all of their life, although they haven't been in the league that long, from a historical basis.  Philly has not been in the Sabres' division, but they are an old Conference rival that has often been a playoff oppenent in years when the Sabres were good.  Pittsburgh has been extremely successful in two regimes, the Lemieux-Jagr era and the Crosby-Malkin era, plus they knocked us out of the playoffs way back in 1979, one of the more traumatic games from my youth.

I was in the reds behind the Sabres net in OT for that game. It happened so quickly and was so stunning. This and the Brad Park game seven OT goal in '83 were the most traumatic goals from my youth.

A terrible practice that is now common for fans a bottom feeder.  I remember when a Leafs game ticket was golden.  They always had a large contingent of fans in the Aud anyway, but never close to a majorly and the thought of selling Your Leafs Game ticket to their fans was just a foreign concept.

The pride in this team has been sucked out.  It’s sad.  I hate this idea of giving away a home game.  Just like the Bills playing “home” games in Toronto.

Loyalty, Honor and Tradition.  Do they matter any more?

Throughout the entirety of this drought, my thoughts have often gone back to the '70s Sabres and what those teams built, from the fan base, to a winning tradition. We never won a Cup, I know, but I think back to the solid foundation that those teams built. It seems like these last few years have all, but squandered it. It is really sad.

Great post. I get the reluctance to use your franchise QB as RB1 but he’s their best runner by a mile.  Use him, I don’t know, sometimes?  Clearly 20,26 &22 aren’t getting it done, so use the guy leading the NFL in YPC.

Hopefully the foot injury is healing, but, otherwise, let him loose.  Hopefully, Daboll mixes things up today. You just know that Darth Hoodie will have some surprises for us.

  7. My natural reaction to the Devon Levi news is muted only because most times the next "big things" on the Sabres don't pan out for whatever reasons. The kid does seem like a diamond in the rough, though. Whoever it will be, I'll be so relieved when we finally find a true franchise starting goaltender. It's only been a few years since Ryan Miller left, but it feels like an eternity. I miss not having to worry about it.

So, what'd ya get that really stands out?

Wifey got me the Blu-ray/CD of the Rush R40 Live from a few years back.  Just about through the 1st set & that was an awesome concert.  Alex & Neil are/were such absolute masters of their craft & Geddy Lee fit them so well.

Sucks that the Professor is gone.

Hope all are having an excellent Christmas & that those that don't celebrate that holiday have a wonderful Holiday themselves.

I was at that show and, I have to say, when Ben Mink came out to perform Losing It, I very nearly did.

  9. I remember when the Rigas family bought the team.  It felt like a breath of fresh air. Similarly, I felt this way when the Pegulas came along. All that I want, is an owner who doesn't end up in leg shackles and knows how to get out of the way of the management he or she brings on board.

  10. The Leafs are number one for me. Their fans are boorish and cocky, even when the Leafs aren't having a good year.

Second is Ottawa. I still haven't recovered from being their bitch in the oughts.

    Honorable mention: Dallas Stars
