I don’t think the NFL hates the Bills. If a franchise is making good money, And it is… The NFL loves you 😂

Good money isn't enough.  Not in the NFL, not in other corporations, nowhere.

No disrespect to STH but if the two options are PSL’s or taxpayers kicking in more to build the new stadium, my vote goes for...make the people pay who want to use the product the most.

With a good team on the field, I'm guessing the Pegula's would see PSL's as a essential AND taxpayer funding.

They're in a business and everyone knows you never spend your own money if you don't have to.  In this case, they'll work the system force someone else to shoulder as much of the burden as they can.

    Bloody Hell!!

Can't the fans just have some fun without these (in general) billionairs making a quick buck.

And specifically to the Pegulas, I agee completely.

The fans should boycott every last item that they will be throwing out there and come up with some new gimicky thing.

Billionaires are taking over the world.  It's human nature for some people to want to rule the majority, i.e. the middle class.

This is the price of having a team in your area.  With very few exceptions, Teams DO get new stadiums and taxpayer dollars pay for them.

Which do you want....no team? or a huge package of public dollars to pay for new stadiums in your region?

Most people realize the US has an infrastructure problem (the roads and bridges kind) with upgrades needed soon.  Especially in metro areas where traffic has surged in the past 50 years.

This may come as a surprise to many, but the Federal/State/local governments don't have enough money for everything.  I'm quite confident the Pegula's won't receive 100% of financing for their two team locations, but any spending on these endeavors comes at the expense of something else.  The question is: which areas should be cut so that the Pegula's can continue making 8-9 figure profits?  That is, unless you're willing to pay higher taxes for entertainment.

1.5 billion is a lot of money, even for a billionaire.  Do think the pegula's are looking for a 50/50 split or something like that.

Then take out a mortgage like loan and do it yourself.  Public financing for something that benefits so few is asinine.

NY States budget is 212 billion. The plan to divert 1% of that to football games tells you everything you need to know about the decline of America in the 21st century.

So 700k roughly. Much more palatable number but still rough.

And the NYS budget has risen almost 23% over the past 2-3 years.

  5. Too soon to tell on Adams with Buffalo's rebuild still in the tear down stage until Eichel is traded.  That's the easy part compared to managing a roster from the bottom of the standings to one competing for a playoff spot and winning playoff series.

Also interested in who on the current roster is re-signed long term (3 years or more) like Dahlin, how his draft picks fare, and where they are by the end of year 2.  That's a suitable time to assess him.

Yes, this is exactly correct.  It was pretty obviously a coordinated thing.

Honestly though, I doubt it was Friedman purposely doing Eichel’s bidding.  It was probably just that Friedman wanted to do an episode like this (because it’s a huge story, and fairly complicated) and Eichel’s people knew when it was coming out, so they coordinated the press release to be on the same night.

That seems the most likely scenario to me.

I have a hard time not seeing Friedman do this sort of podcast without having some motivation from Eichel's camp or potential teams he could land with.  Especially with it dropping less than 12 hours after the agents' letter was released.

No one looks good right now.

Notice all the cheap one-year contracts.  This is a financial plan not a hockey plan.

Or, they had serious depth concerns with the Amerks.  Issue I have with that is, the AHL team seemed to be more of a priority than building the parent club.  Signings like Malone, Davidson, Schuldt, Prow, Dell, and perhaps Hayden.

Problem with this is KA and team haven't sold fans on this need.  All they've got is this "players who want to be mantra."  Sure, the maligning of Eichel is happening, but I don't think it's having the desired effect.  The Sabres aren't good at PR.  Moves these past few season in hockey and business ops indicate they just eliminate people without much cause aside from cost-cutting.

I’m that case, Adams gets this year and next year before he’s fired

And you'll see the first Owner/GM in the league because no one would take that job.  Sorta kidding.

This is exactly what KA should be doing with free agency, absolutely nothing.   For once, we're doing it right.   At some point the time line to spend the money has to be appropriate.

Otherwise we're right back where we were.  Totally suck and have no cap.

The only thing we should be doing is finding an adequate short term goalie.  That's the only thing I'd be willing to marginally spend on.

What will be interesting to watch is whether you can say that mid-season if they're a dumpster fire.  Not all rebuilds are created equally.

Key is, does ownership empower their hand-picked GM to make the moves necessary or do they retreat into self-imposed issues if there's signs of life next season.  I'm not saying you're spending on UFAs, but re-signing those who prove they're integral to future winning.

He’s the tank commander.  The plan is very simple. We will spend at the floor and tank to get a top pick. Jack will be traded fir picks and prospects. Money will not be spent on high priced coaches or general managers.  In 2 years we will have a lot of good young talent and then we will start spending again.

With Eichel and the higher priced players the Pegula's were losing money as fans stopped going to watch a bad team.  If this team doesn't get off the ground soon and start winning the financial losses will ensure.  I'm confident Terry will keep payroll down as a result.

Bills fans here watched the team be a feeder for the rest of the league.  The only thing that broke the cycle was an owner who hired good managers and spent.  Lot easier to do in the NFL when you get a massive revenue sharing check every year and finally found competent leadership.  Do not see that happening with the Sabres right now.

Wonder if KA being unable to lure FA over will finally be a wake up call for the Pegula’s.

They come off as more disconnected from the Sabres each year, unless it's financial of course.  I don't know how that's possible, but it's clear now.

I wanted to post a feel good video, showing a win under Granato in regulation.  I looked through all the games, and I don't think there was a single regulation win under Granato that did not include a Reinhart goal (and he actually had a few multigoal games).  We can't whip that horse anymore.  What *will* the team look like?

As we used to say in the Army..."embrace the suck."

    This is tucking stupid

Perhaps.  But I'd feel way more comfortable with someone who's done this more than a year and isn't operating directly under the watchful eye of the owner.

This is as close to make or break for a NHL GM as it gets.  And for all the talk about rebuilding, they're tearing down right now...building up is as difficult or even more so.  The closer you get to being really good the harder.

It's basically what I've been saying all along. While everyone else was throwing Jack in the river for demanding a trade, I've never believed that that happened. If the Sabres trade Jack it's because they want to.

Adams was probably in assessment mode last summer, having taken the job in June and Eichel was a part of that.  If teams contacted him about Jack''s availability it was likely on their own and not because Eichel was there for a trade.  I also think that, if Adams eventually saw Eichel in a negative light that there'd need to be some deconstructing his reputation done behind the scenes.  Because fans would object to trading your best player amid more losing.

The injury kinda made all this possible.  If Jack plays a full schedule and scores like he did in 2019-20, I don't see Adams getting the support to trade him.

But make no mistake - this is a Pegula problem, not an Adams issue.  These people are highly insecure and it cascades down the organization.

Owners, because they're largely behind the scenes, escape the blame because fans don't see them.  It's why a segment of the fan base is ripping Jack and not the owner who couldn't hire a GM to save his life.  And then there's decisions on other executives, budgets, etc. which impact the team far more than any one player ever could.
