Anyone want to chip in for an aerial "SELL THE SABRES" banner to be flown over PSE HQ?
OK, I asked for a quote. I haven't bought a season ticket, a jersey, not even a hat since 2006. This will be my contribution to the Sabres franchise and if it's reasonable, yes I'm serious.

I am almost 50 and this is the most depressing moment in Buffalo sports for the sheer scope of it. Something is extremely unhealthy at the top and the culture of this franchise. For Jack to feel disrespected in his injury handling is extremely telling and beyond disturbing. Wide right, Hull in the crease, Briere/Drury leaving... is not the same as this. Very hopeless feeling for the future of this team.
Maybe Eichel was lying? I wouldn't discount any possibility with this cast of characters.

This organization doesn't deserve to exist. It's too screwed up at the top and the decisions made, it was like they bought all the frosting in the world but had no cake to put it on.
And yes I never like Eichel anyway. The first time I saw him was the clip "coming to get you Buffalo" and he was underage drunk. First impression are important.

Rebuild the team the commonsense way. Get solid players, no superstars, to get the team to a certain level, then bring in a star or two. Don't start with so-called superstars and put it all on their shoulders. This move with Granato and the relationships he formed seemed like a step in the right direction.

When I lived in Buffalo, I worked at my dad's store and later on I left and him and his partner sold the store. They sold it to someone who had the money but one of the first things this new owner did was harass people who were parking in our lot. This new owner was incompetent and had no background in the business. He didn't endear himself to the customers. He apparently was a front man for a larger group who eventually sold the business again to a larger concern to a much different business.
This is what the Pegulas remind me of.

Eichel's late. Prima donna.

Fox was born to be a Ranger. He grew up loving the Rangers and now it's his dream come true. I doubt he'd play as well anywhere else, if he'd play at all.

It gets me that if the Sabres are lucky enough to get a productive superstar or two to come to town, these guys end up dictating the terms of either their contract or their trade or both. Now that Buffalo has been branded a perennial loser, I wonder if the current Buffalo management has any leverage at all in getting productive trade returns. Maybe the Sabres management must accept the table scraps that are given to them in a trade. Their incompetence doesn't help. Hasek was the first, probably O'Reilly and Hall forced their way out and made sure that the Sabres got very little in return. Eichel it seems is next; he probably sees how easy it is to force the Sabres to make a lopsided trade.

I was reading about how Drury and the Rangers are going to go hard after Eichel this summer. Comment after comment of Ranger fans want Barkov instead. They say Eichel is an overpaid complainer, a crybaby, who is injury prone, can't win faceoffs, isn't physical and is a finesse player. Dolan also said he wants more grit...how Eichel fits the Rangers need for grit escapes me.

To trade Eichel we need to get a Lafontaine in return. You don’t trade franchise centers just going into their prime without getting something similar in return. Kakko, 2 D prospects, and a first round is a loss for us.

I have an idea: Retire RJ, fire Dunleavy and then bring in a PBP man with absolutely no experience!
-
Dunleavy's "expected" to return? Is that like the Pegulas giving Botterill a vote of confidence?

What beef you have with Larry Mickey?
Mickey was good for the Jr. Sabres but was a troubled person and a mediocrity as a hockey player. If they would have upgraded Mickey with someone actually useful, and a goalie, they may have won the cup that year.

Except Crozier/Desjardins and Larry Mickey you are correct IMO.

You aren’t legitimately criticizing the Sabres for this are you?
When your coach is the emergency backup goalie, you've hit rock bottom.

What interests me the last few games here is RJ's possible Grand Finale. If he packs it up at the end of this season, I wouldn't blame him a bit. I think the time is right, even though we're looking at mediocrity going forward. I hope they win one for RJ. For many years now, he's made the Sabres look a lot more exciting and a lot better than they deserve. I'll miss you RJ.

I'd snap up Merzlikins for a 2nd, but I doubt they'd do that.
But Elvis was very down on Buffalo. He's sick of losing. I don't think he'd want to come here.

Maybe Ralph helped Eichel with his alcoholism, self esteem or girl problems.
