  1. I think that Jack's way.  He doesn't appear willing to publicly discuss other players situations.  If you remember, when Jimmy Vesey was his teammate in Boston and preparing his decision during free agency, Jack told him that Buffalo was a great place to play but also told him that it was his decision and that he should make the right choice for himself.

It’s not hard to imagine 40,000 cars coming into downtown in the morning or exiting in the afternoon. Bumper to bumper the 33 can hold up to 10,000 cars alone.

Im sure one our analytics experts can write an equation showing how many cars going roughly 30 miles per hour along an 8.6 mile stretch of highway for about one hour and fifteen minutes would equal to.

    Yes, a fancy stat

I find it odd how much as a society we care about who tells us what and when.

I agree.  CBS Sports came out with their bracketology predictions for 2020 March Madness.  Wake me up when things happen.  On that note, Wildcard, thanks for posting the new uni information.

  4. All this talk about ROR and how JBott made a huge mistake.  I wish we could move past this but I understand why it won't happen.  Funny for all of the

detractors out there --- he may have been just doing what the owners wanted.  IF, in fact he vigorously tried to talk the owners out of making the trade and was unsuccessful, he is probably regarded highly by ownership.  Much the opposite of public opinion.

I would have loved to have been in whatever bar he walked into and started chatting hockey with him.

I hope those who he chatted up have now realized who they were talking to.

    Maybe he would be down

Maybe he would be down for a summertime SabreSpace meet up

  6. I think it amusing that Edmonton replaced RK with Dallas Eakins, a successful Marlies coach who supposedly "has a reputation of communicating extremely well with young players".  How did that go?  And apparently Edmonton GM McTavish needed to make a change for his own benefit because he was on the hot seat.  An article linked below from June 2013 also mentions that RK is an intelligent and articulate individual with outside interests who will someday be a success.  Duh, among them as head coach of the Sabres!  ?

I don’t see why Tippett excites people who had no interest in AV or McLellan. He’s no less old school than they are, has had less success, isn’t known as a coach who develops the kids, and has been a defensive shell guy most of his career. I guess the difference is expectations of the teams he had.

As far I’m concerned however, he meets my primary requirement: somebody who will demand respect.

I’ve pretty much gravitated to Keefe, but I’d be fine with Tippett.

And really, I don’t have ***** clue about the right coach for this bunch, anyway.

    Not everyone agrees:

But, at the same time, if you're a transplant, you have to show some interest in the home town team when the Sabres continue to blow.

Ugh no.  Not when Philly is the nearest home town team.  Their fans are......let's take the high road here..... the most annoying in the league.

We didn't win the ROR trade. Unless a bunch changes that's probably going to be how it is. For some reason though, we're better without him as a team.

Hold on now.  The result is inconclusive at best and a bunch doesn't have to change.  We don't know who the draft pick - obtained in the ROE trade - will be yet and how that will turn out.  ROR was drafted 2nd round (33rd) in 2009.  We will definitely have a pick which will be lower and possibly better.

ROR has nothing to do with the St. Louis turn around.  I posted it in another thread.

Summary: Since Dec. 1 their scoring rate has dropped, but they are giving up far less goals.  They are more committed to defense and they brought in Jordan Binnington to replace Chad Johnson.  Binnington has a remarkable record and stat line since joining the club.

Again I gain knowledge.  Even though I mentioned the Blues record since 12/14, my post was about the "winner/whiner" thing, the inconclusive result and my opinion of SS.  But thanks LTS.

  11. Haha - well boys we nailed this thread!

Two sides opposite in opinion.  #1- good move to trade him or #2 - bad move?  Whiner or winner.  As of the last post on 12/14 #1 had the upper hand (Blues were 12-18).  Now the worm has turned and #2 can claim bragging rights (Blues are 16-9) since.  This issue, however, will probably flip-flop a few more times in the future until all of the assets in the trade have shown their future value.

I love this board because of the enthusiasm (Vesey thread), conviction (this thread_, humor (many.many) and the knowledge that I gain (also many)  Don't change a thing. SABRES FOREVER!

Phil is every NFL coach who ever had a lead on the Pats at halftime. We're learning he's no Belichick. Phil's getting schooled. The Dallas game is Exhibit A. And that's on top of unforced pregame errors like starting Hutton over Ullmark last night.

Well ----- Belichick wasn't Belichick either after his first two seasons.  His coaching record was 13-19.

    And McCabe and Nelson.

4 of those 5 were thought by many to be marginal NHL players at best and probably not long for the league.  Now 2 of those 4 are rock-solid top-4 guys, the other 2 are legit 3rd pairing guys with skill and the 5th — Risto — is living up to his potential and becoming a star.

And that doesn’t even include the gift we got in the lottery.

    Howie is coaching them up.

Yes and yes.  I think that its about time that we give Steve Smith some credit also.
