It will be interesting to see all our prospects come up over the next two or three years.. They might get to play with a real club and guys like grigs (leftover dr) and Cody who can't cut it on a line or team they have to carry might actually realize their potential being pushed by guys that are better than them that they respect and try to keep up with.. This team might actually look like one if Murray is right on two of three of his picks which seem to have unknown ceilings . Our percentage will even surpass Detroit if this is true over the past three to four years with picks, trades and the few pieces that he kept .

If you include bailey and grigorenko ... The odds look brighter for two good established players in a trade or I would prefer to see three or four of these guys play regular minutes by April next year. One more good veteran and these kids might have the stability around them to improve when they get called for a tryout.Nick Baptiste with 1 G + 2 A tonight, McDavid got 5 pts.
Brycen Martin with 1 G.
Hudson Fasching with 1A.
Eric Cornel with 1A.
Sam Reinhart with 1A early in Kootenay game.

I like Bogosian, he alone is changing the culture .. but his 30 minutes a game playing inspiring hockey will make it tougher to shart out Mceichel .. It's going to be close .. I hope we' re humble..Bogosian is twice the defenseman Myers is and that much harder to play against, which is what this team needs on the back end. In his first game as a Sabre, Bogo registered 1/4 of Myers' hit total on the entire season. In one game! Yes, in the short term we will miss Myers' offensive prowess but given how streaky that is and that we still have young defensemen that can develop that aspect, I'm not sure how much we'll miss that moving forward.

That stat spikes at 51 53 and 56 seem about right.. That would suggest a win count for Edmonton at 7 or 8 to be close to certain ...

Cancelled Center Ice today. I've made it official. I want the tank, but I will not watch it.
If you won't watch the actual games, the "high"lights that nhl.com provides are quite detailed. I am apparently embarrassingly enamored with my daily standings check . This consists of watching the reports of old and un talented seal get beaten daily (that I do love) as I gleefully check to see how close it is to being actually dead. I also enjoy looking at the future veal and lambs being fattened up in the sabres prospects not good enough to be sold at market to see which will be sacrificed before the screaming masses.. It's a change from watching the old version of the sport ... but oh .. The joy .

I don't know how you got to this from what I said, but okay. It's obvious (as you point out) that teams will need more points than they have available to them in order to clinch unless they're in first. My point was that your standings have it set up so that any team that gets more points than Edmonton can possibly get then they clinch first, which is false. That just clinches second place for them. You need to clinch more than the first place team can possibly get to get to first.
It's a good thing you guys don't get caught up in minutiae .

It could be fun if Ed starts winning and we get a cushion ...so we can watch the impossible, as Bogosian starts leading the team with
the play and ethic of a winner (being very close to home) well before kane is even in the lockeroom . Go oilers ( they looked great .. Emerging as a team with talent and a backbone on the road..
A cushion is at least ten points.. 6 is nothing. . But better than 4.

Stafford had few chances.. He , for whatever reason , seems the most likely to come close to his best year if he gets first or second line minutes.. He isn't as much of a tool as he was and seems to realize by his effort this year that this is his last shot to be treated like a first rounder.
I really believe we get the bestout of Bogosian and turn him loose since he was third pick overall (ahead of Myers) and had really big point production in his draft years in junior. After 6 years he is just playing against guys he dominated to rise to the top of the draft .. Haven't seen anything but you must see the ice pretty well to have 50, 60 assists in the OHL as a defensemen.. I think the same is true for Kane (third line and injured past toe years) and I think myers slways looked awkward and weak. (never saw much of Calder season). But he never seemed comfortable in his own skin without a couple odd moments per game. This has more of a chance of both winning or us losing if wrong on prospects than being glad the lazy Vaine k is notskimg me wonder if he is a star or he just plays one when feels like it a couple shifts a game.
I agree .. Am so glad everyone except miller briere and drury are gone .. Wusses and Floaters once they had to be the guy except for the three above. Seeing those videos that a bunch of you posted reminded me of why I loved the sabres ..I hope Murray finds our soul we lost Tough team and talent sounds like a good start
Last.. I hate hearing guys that like big goalies or strong forwards. Gretsky and hasek didn't "look" like hockey players as rookies. Turgeon looked like a hockey player but what a difference to get an injured little guy. Anyway ... I hope I'm stating the obvious and I'm sure Murray will see talent in any package.

He was traded because, like armia, Murray and his scouts sweated over the time table for Lemieux to play more than 9 games in the nhl. In buffalo armia gets his shot but prob doesn't stick and Lemieux isn't skilled enough or disciplined enough to be there on big club til after next year..
Because Murray is an untested gm.. It cost us a number one pick because he couldn't walk on this deal and Chevy knew he needed this and wanted it. Because he is untested and IF he really believed in Claudes lil prick ( on roster for next year) he would have offered him first round money and played hardball by trying make us look attractive to blackball the kid. He wouldn't want this perception out there. If Murray actively made the team better (with kane ..bogs and a good Ufa , proving the worth of our franchise and the kid still didn't sign ... He eould make the league see kid as trouble and they (gms) may have taken Murray's side and gave him a chance to . redraft the kid to or not drafted the kid at all so as not to be spurned as well... not to have kids thinking this is an option .. Or a very expensive one.. It's probably why he fell ( out of first , as well as questionable immediate talent) because no one wanted to get a second round compensation for the kid that overvalues himself above the team.
This rule should be three years on top 5 s and always an exception. I am surprised guys don't do it more often considering they would get to pick the situation and players that fit and allow them to succeed . I could see. A guy like armia being Tatar in Detroits lineup where his skills need high end veterans to succeed unlike 3rd line scrubs and ahl goons he mostly had. It will be interesting to see if either are called up or if he even sign in win...
Anyone know if the player has to be signed to play the nine games for the big club and put on an nhl sweater ?

Why don't higher picks hold out? The team eould only get a second round if Mceichel sat out two years as compensation .. Much more likely for a college player.
Couldn't Murray just bring him up next year and force his hand dangling nhl minutes??
Probably why the phone call before drafting anyone ..The Nfl owns the rights for how long ? on a guy like Bo or Horsefaceway .. I am hesitant to even ask because I don't want this thread to be even a page.

Lindy helps the sabres with a new great goalie for the "push" this year . What's next reanimating Rico just in time for training camp ... I loved the "dropped the mic and left" comment . F it , let's play some hockey .. I'm in.
