Were the forwards playing defense away from the puck. How did Quinns skating look? I'm not getting espn. So ill just be watching highlights.

Welcome to the Sabres. That's all I got.

I still don't like the trade. JBD, is a better defensemen. But, I'll give it a chance, as he did show up in Pittsburgh. But, it's such a small sample size.

When healthy, he's worth $2 MM.
I'm definitely not a Greenway guy, but he's here. So go Sabres. He does add some size and physicality. I just feel they could find this player in someone cheaper.

Manageable cap, with the ability to move him comfortably now. Either we take him into the season or hes moved. At least hes signed. Get Devon done thanks.

I loved the old model, big crowd, families, watching the power brokers all in one room.
Sure it could have been tweaked into a better broadcast, but the format was unique to hockey and something I looked forward to.
A lesser carbon copy of the NFL draft sucks.
This years NHL draft, was the worst thing ever.

From the article:
It’s a weighted combination of their production (goals, assists, expected goals, blocks, penalty differential) and their play-driving (on-ice expected and actual goal stats), adjusted for difficulty (quality of competition and teammates). The cards also show each player’s market value based on total contributions.
The cards showcase both offensive and defensive ratings. I just showed the defence.
Thank you for that too dudacek!

The easy way to read it is that the Sabres are at least 113% better.
However, for that left-hand column I'm wondering if it's solely based on the 2024-25 Sabres or how much an impact being on last year's defensively-inept Sabres team had on those numbers. For example, if Norris had played between JJP and Quinn for 30 games (like Cozens did), would Norris' number be 12%?
Thanks for the explanation.

I have no idea how to quantify that the way I tried with the goals for potential.
In terms of in/out with the skaters this is what the athletic model has to say about their defensive impact:
- Peterka 2% -> Doan (not ranked)
- Cozens 8% -> Norris 39%
- Lafferty 19% -> Danforth 40%
- Jokiharju 56% -> Kesselring 81%
- Clifton 13% -> Timmins 59%
Not even sure how the stat (I believe it is a percentile relative to the league) is calculated, so take that for what it is worth.
Alright, I'm not even going to pretend I understood this. How would this percolate to on ice improvement?

They give recommendations on all sorts of moves, the issue is they are not followed unlike the Panthers.
Analytics is the reason Florida gets players such as Forsling, Verhaeghe and Mikkola at bargain basement prices.
Jarmo is a fan of analytics, so hopefully this bodes well for the futureI love the sound of that.

Better be the sweetest sweetener in world history. Kadri will be 35 this season and is signed for three more years (and will have to waive his no trade clause—unlikely). I love the concept of Kadri, but not for three more years at 7MM to pay him until 38.
Im at the point that I'm looking at production and the ability for someone to help us make the playoffs. I'm fine trading Byram for futures and then flipping said futures for on ice improvements.

Yeah I’d like to see a young D prospect and probably draft picks. I think the Sabres are doing them a bit of a favor.
I see that point of view too. Additionally, I see that adding a player like Kadri, puts a positive note to the boys in the room. That they're looking to push this year. As it follows up on the "changing the culture", moves of Peterka for Doan and Kesserling. The additions of Danforth, Timmins. It just doubles down on that. I would only see this if they are getting Kadri ++ for Byram.

Kadri is the type of player the Sabres need. Tough and can score. He would look good with Tage.
If there was a sweetener with Kadri due to age and such Id be all about this. Kadri put up quality numbers with an underperforming team starting a retool.

I'm not a Timmins fan, so more ammunition. Hopefully he's closer to his Pittsburgh form.

Am I the only person who just wants this move done one way or another, either he's bridged, signed, or traded?

If the 9M per year tag is definitely a for sure target, I personally don't want him at that. 7.5 range is where I'd fit him in. Even then, we don't need 20-30% on three LHD.

Just sign Byram to a bridge contract and trade futures for Rust and call it a day.

if they're holding cap for a match just sign him and move on.

Honestly at this point overpaying Mangiapane would at least be SOMETHING.

These are your grade A Sabres signings.

You do realize this happens every off season. They NEED to sign guys for the AHL. And every off season, the same people act like complete rubes when it happens.
Fair enough.

Simply put. No.

We signed Mehtsa. Is this 2022?
