I want Iginla or Yakemchuk if we keep the pick. Honestly perfectly content with shipping it for an upgrade.

Maybe a FA or something but we have what, 3 first overall picks or something on D? Lol if these guys can’t buoy the D unit I’d assume team building is an impossible pursuit. Trading our best F for a 2nd pair D is enough for me now, I’d spend more significant assets elsewhere on the roster. At F, even a competent vet backup goalie
Samuelsson - Dahlin
Byram - Power
Clifton - Jokiharju
..the handedness situation is brutal but clearly their aim was stacking talent and there’s a ton of talent there
The strength of the roster is Dahlin / Power. If we become good, dollars to donuts it flows through them and Levi. If these 2 first overall picks aren’t creating two lockdown, possession dominant pairs we are up the creek anyways. Having a 3rd overall pick there on pair two failsafes even further unless the Byram we’ve seen is Bowen in perpetuity
I really want someone like Hakanpaa. An experienced vet who won't clog up a ton of cap but is reliable and strong in his zone.

I'll take a defensemen, or whatever useful center that falls. I would love one of Iginla, Catton or Helenius. Or in the defensive side, Yakemchuk, or Jiricek. We will get a useful prospect, unless we trade it for a much more ready NHL'er.

Cozens does well in this tournament. I don't think he played last year, but in 2022 I know he tied for the lead in goal scoring in the tournament.
He plays within the structure, and doesn't have to think about the consistent pressure of the fans / media scrum continuously asking him about not making the playoffs. I'm sure it is a bit consistently dogging to hear it non stop. The players have to put the goals in the net, but at the same time, the management team needs to do more to bring this team together with the right momentum. This offseason is so important.

90% of Okposo's career in Buffalo was struggling to get back to normalcy. At least in the sense of being relatively in the playoff hunt. Is it a crap way for your former captain to leave the team he played a large portion of his career, yes. However, like LGR4GM stated this is an issue with management. Okposo was a warrior and for the large majority was a model citizen in and out of the team. I don't fault him for asking for a trade. I do leave some blame in the December incident where they went on a stingy stance of not saluting fans.

I personally like Yakemchuk over Dickinson for D.
Completely agree.

I have no love for the Leafs. So I'm totally fine with Matthews being ousted. Jack won his cup last year, it's nice to see different teams advancing. Go Vancouver.

Adams is a mouthpiece perpetually glued to Terry's sphincter. I believe nothing coming out of this sheep's mouth.

What we want to see happen:
1) Make serious changes to the bottom six.
2) Move out a few defensemen and upgrade at least one of the top 4.
3) Add a solid "#2 center" with upside
4) Move Krebs for value
What will happen:
1) Rochester kids call up
2) Worthless lackluster depth additions that have no cohesiveness with the team, and or have fallen off a cliff.
Kevyn Adams is a pathetic overeager mouthpiece and puppet for the Pegula's. I'm sure he wants to do well in a perfect world, but he's too busy sucking off the taint of Terry. It's a farse.

Great write up LG.

He's near the top for me as well. I still have Dahlin and Peterka ahead, but he's currently the third favorite ahead of Cozens and Quinn.

Can you imagine if they’d have hired Rod Brindamour and we had to look at his stupid Carolina cup raising face on a day to day basis? No thanks. Hard pass. Adams is enough.
Id rather reign in hell
Funnest post in a while!

Seriously. This is all I need to know. If it happened and it didn’t work out then sure Lindy does just fine. I just don’t believe that happened.
With Adams in charge he went the lazy way out and did zero research. This screams calling on the last coach with any sustained success who can put the fans to drowsy recollection of the late 90s early 2000s runs.

Also ***** nostalgic hires. If he brings us to the playoffs next year, I'll be content enough. Otherwise, this is a lazy pathetic hire.

Whether you’re elated or deflated about this hiring, I can’t wait to see how Lindy handles Skinner, and what Jeff Skinner shows up for the Sabres next year…
Hopefully he shows up to get any lingering mementos after he's bought out.

Color me unimpressed when come year three were looking for a younger hc. I like Ruff, but this is 7 years late.

I'm not much of a Berube fan. I think he fell into a great landing spot and a team that went on a freakish run. He'd be a Bylsma hire to me. I like then discipline in his manner. But eh.

I'd tend to hope that guy should have a longer resume than Eric Comrie's one 19-game season as an NHL backup. A Casey DeSmith/Jake Allen/Kevin Lankinen level guy maybe?
But I actually think a guy like the Comrie of 2 years ago is the type of signing we're going to end up with: Adin Hill, Laurent Broissoit, Alex Lyon, Charlie Lindgren...
Not necessarily those guys right now, but a guy in a similar situation to where they were a few years ago: 25-30, tasted the NHL, never quite cracked it.
Brossoit of that group listed. Hill is locked up for two years. I'd be fine with Brossoit, right age/starting experience/cup experience.

I do think the main core is good enough to make it to the playoffs. However they need to break up some of the same and add different elements. See Brady Tkachuk, William Carrier, etc for some more grit.
They needed to mix it up a bit regardless if the Middlestadt for Byram deal was the right one. There definitely needs to be tweaking. That being said we are always reacting to a situation instead of getting ahead of it. Injuries and off years happen to every team, so they need to bring in new veteran leadership. Also a lot more fight!

At least after tonight the official off-season starts and as such the debate over management changes can really take hold. We knew they wouldn't change in season...
But for tonight.. they can enjoy one last game. Not sure I will bother.
More like waste management. 🗑 We will be sewn false promises and deliver zilch.

Karlsson is my preference. All the way, he's a consistent veteran and shouldn't cost a huge overpayment.
