I get that they don’t draft players you like but they aren’t horrible at it either. They have some issues to solve, no doubt, but drafting isn’t in the top 3 things.
While I respect your cogent and always civil contributions to this site, along with the occasional insider info, I disagree that drafting is not in the top three issues. To be putrid for a decade or half of a decade and not reap the benefits of drafting where they have is a direct result of why they continue to be putrid. The system is designed so that after awhile, say 5 years, you have accumulated enough human on ice capital to make the 50% barrier of making the playoffs. And here we are. Discussing how to use a top 5 pick again.

Almost all of the decisions the Pegulas have made since taking over the Sabres have been risky, but in a naive way rather than a bold way. Declaring you're going to win a Stanley Cup and then nuking the whole thing to tank for one player. Hiring first time head coaches, first time GMs, guys reported to be "savants" and "geniuses" of various cuts. And they haven't changed course with Adams in that respect.
It all ends up looking really...amateurish. Definitely not the work of anyone who actually knows what they're doing.
So that's what the Sabres are up against. How do you take this organization and turn it into one that is professional and respectable? How do you get back to the certain "essence" that inhabited the place when the Knoxes were running the show?This^

I realize that message boards are for ranting and venting, but looking at the situation strategically, the last thing the Sabres need is a firesale. Why? The people doing the selling are not competent to execute it. Until the Pegulas do something they have never done in their history, admit they are not competent, then you are simply resetting the cycle on the washer. Until they create a structure where they have no say over any decision other than whether they wish to continue to own the asset, the team is doomed to repeat its mistakes. They have 2 possibly 3 of the toughest things to acquire in building a quality team. A #1 center, a#1 d and a possibly 1a or b center (possibly because we have not seen Cozens at C). The goaltending has been an issue since Miller left but you can buy your way out of the problem. You can’t buy your way out of Okposo Skinner and if they sign Hall, Hall, who looks like he is headed down that path.
Anything done without an admission of fault by the Pegulas, and a willingness to step aside and let amMike Gillis or Rutherford have total control, will simply end up the same way. In 3 years most hear will want to run Cozens out of town because he wasn’t the answer like they do Jack and Sam. Or Quinn or Peterka fill in the blank. They will say they are stained with losing and need to be exorcized, when the only two people who have been here for the full run of futility are Terry and Kim Pegula.
And I will preempt the Bills comparison. Remember who put the list that included McDermott together? Doug Whaley. Someone with league insight and history. That McDermott wanted his own GM and convinced TP and KP is a nice story, that they may actually believe, and may actually be true, but it wouldn’t have happened without someone with experience and knowledge particular to the endeavor initiating it. They got lucky no doubt but it started with someone who had knowledge they do not. It also happened in a league environment where contract mistakes can be easily rectified with waiver. That is not how it works in the NHL. And that simple, but major difference, along with no guarantee of tv revenue makes running a successful NHL beyond the purview of most owners. To be successful, they need people who understand the dna of the league better than they do.
They have had 10 years, and we are no farther ahead, and on face woefully behind, any semblance that the Sabres only reason for existence is to win the Stanley Cup. Step one in any crisis is to admit you have a problem. I have not seen any indication the Pegulas see that they are the problem. I hope they don’t compound that by letting their latest intuition, hiring a futbol executive to coach and a junior development coach to manage, further erode any possibility that a qualified senior executive team would sign on after gutting a talent pool that simply needs the right leadership. Players play. Coaches coach. Managers manage. Owners own. The players didn’t sign Cody Eakin. The player’s had no ability to ***** can Hutton and get a legitimate NHL goaltender. The players didn’t load up a team with too many people of the same handedness on w and d, nor did they hire a guy who needs to hire others to fill out the chalkboard in the final 2 minutes of a game.
The Pegulas and their chosen did.

I remember last year games would have the feeds that were available early in the day in case you wanted to set a recording which I can do. Now no games list any feeds available. Is that what others are seeing as well?

I run nhl.tv through Roku on my big screen. I have a vpn on my laptop.

My renewal autobilled. So I do not think that is what went wrong. I called in exactly at 12 today to get support. Waited for 5 minutes and a woman picked I explained my situation and she said oh and hung up. I have now been on hold for 46 minutes. Add that to the 1 hour and 10 last night and not feeling warm and fuzzy about nhl.tv and on top of that what is this espn+ crap. Either you advertise every out of market game or you don’t. I don’t want to have to buy a streaming service on top of the service I bought already. Utterly pissed.

Chicago is too close to Canada? I think there is something else going on. I removed the app reinstalled it, logged in and now It says there are no feeds for any games including tonight.
And what the hell is ESPN + and why would that blackout agame

Leafs Habs has no feeds on nhl.tv. Wtf. I'm in Chicago. These people wonder why they are not like the other sports and it is this crap over and over that makes people not bother to try and consume the product.

The contract is considerably lower than anyone on here thought Sam was going to get. The retain his rights with a $5.2 million offer next summer and the door remains wide open for an extension if this season and the coming Dahlin and Hall negotiations show that is the right path.

Agreed. KA and Ralph have a plan. And the Pegs seem to be involved but not in the way. A goal upgrade and this team has improved considerably in the 5 months under the new way. I wasn’t a fan. But nothing to gripe about on paper.

The big move will be firing the scouting staff, Bob, in a cost cutting move. They will be given the opportunity to rejoin the organization 3 weeks before the next draft. No travel reimbursement though.

I doubt he is coming to Buffalo but if he was interested he is the type of player you have to go after to help change the franchise.

I don't remember the play to the extent of where the opponent's stick was, but I do remember the reaction Jack had to the trainer on the bench afterwards. If looks could kill the training staff would have an open position.
