See I hate Boston so much, but my best friends all love Crosby, they love him so much they root for Canada over Team USA and we live in NY. The amount of crap I still get because he scored on Miller in that game drives me to insanity but I've had a grudge against that franchise long before this, it just keeps piling on.

Just went through this thread and it took me a bit but after thinking about it I do think Weber should be captain. For the argument he's not good enough, how so? It could be argued he was our best dman this year, he plays with the physicality that others respect and doesn't take the stupid penalties but steps up when he feels it is needed. Ott to me is the perfect A because he shows the leadership, but he sometimes gets a little ridiculous on the ice, with running around a lot and taking penalties. And after that I can't think of any other person I'd want captain, if Vanek is still here I guess him, but I think if he stays and things don't go well, he won't be the leader we need whereas Weber will keep that positive attitude.

Well I thought the argument was that Foligno resorted from his intense, aggressive game from 2012 year because he felt like he wasn't backed up by his teammates, but by that argument wouldn't make sense because we acquired guys will stand up for the teammates as we saw that much more this year. I guess you could play Ott at center I just don't think he is a natural center, like for example when he would play with Ennis, Otter would take the draws but then they'd switch back during play so Ott would be on the wing, but I don't think Ennis should be a center either that's why I don't see a problem with playing him there because we don't really have true centers on this team right now

The teams I've labeled down that would be the most likely suitors for Miller is Anaheim, Philly, Tampa, Edmonton, NY Islanders (if Tim Thomas doesn't come back), Pittsburgh (if they get eliminated because of goaltending), Minnesota & Chicago.

Ott is one of best at face offs but he's not a true center, he's a wing who can take face offs. He would come in and take the draws and shift back to wing once play starter for the most part and that is the role for him. I guess I figured since we acquired Ott and Scott during the offseason that Foligno would feel more comfortable playing that way because the year before when he was playing like that he didn't have those guys, I don't know maybe he felt since we had guys like Ott and Scott that he needed to try and play as a more skilled player? Not sure but I want him playing like he did when we called him up

This this this, too many guys on this team just don't want it enough for some reason, Foligno came up and showed that tenacity at the end of the 2012 season when he was called up for good, but for some reason that effort just disappeared this year

Interesting, probably would've gone my life without knowing that and like to think of myself as not a ridiculous hockey fan with keeping realistic ideas in mind I guess the meat would be best thing to be rather than the bread or condiments and I did not know that at the time since I was 11 but yes I do know that's when Golisano got the team. Honestly I'd take whatever I could get for Stafford just as long as I don't have to see him on the Sabres anymore haha and you have a point but a team desperate for a goalie like Tampa or Philly would still be interested and we could still get a decent return and you could make some of the return conditional barring that they resign with the team they're traded to.

Just like to introduce myself before I posted anywhere else, been a Sabres fan for years and have endured the struggles that comes with it and look forward to having others to share the struggle with haha. I'll give my stance on a few things so you guys know how I feel: Haven't been a huge fan of Darcy in the past but I do love what he is in the process of doing now having 10 picks in this upcoming draft with 5 picks in the top 69 and already having 8 for 2014 before counting what we could get for Miller / Vanek / Stafford and yes I believe we should trade all 3 of them. Stafford has been mediocre and hasn't produced in awhile, but I do feel we could get some good value for him because other organizations believe they can fix him. I feel Enroth is ready to start in this league after seeing his play at the end of the year and at the IIHF and would love to resign Leggio and give him a shot at the NHL level because I feel he deserves that chance with his play in the last 2 years. There are a few teams I have in mind that we could trade Miller to and receive great value back. I would hate to trade Miller to Tampa for the reason that they are in the division now but let's be honest we're really not going anywhere in the next 2 years anyway. Also, I have a huge man crush on Jonathan Drouin and would absolutely love to get up to that #3 spot that Tampa has to get him because I feel that Colorado will take Jones because he grew up there playing hockey and they really need defense and with the hiring of Patrick Roy he understands the importance of having an anchor back there. I also feel Florida will stay at 2 and draft Mackinnon to eventually pair him with Huberdeau on their first line (maybe even next year with how bad they are) especially since I noticed Mackinnon and Huberdeau played a lot together on Team Canada over the past few years. And that could leave us with Drouin at the #3 and Stevie Y has been looking to solidify that goalie situation for some years now. Also, wouldn't mind keeping Vanek and making him the captain, but I feel as if he wants to have a chance to win and wouldn't be into this whole rebuilding process Darcy has been speaking of. Also, given what we got for Pommer, the value we could get for Vanek would be excellent. Add the value we get from those 3 to the 18 picks we have in the next 2 years and I believe that is a perfect way to rebuild this franchise. Also, read the title post with making Weber the captain and I love that with the hardwork and dedication he brings to the game, and his great personality and his improved play and I don't see a better option for a captain than him. Look forward to talking with you all and sorry this was so long but I think it's a decent way to start here on sabrespace haha
