It’s still too many minutes. The book on Risto is he gets worse as the season goes on. He’s looked fine, totally agree, but he has early on in the past, too. They’ll need to cut his minutes.
I think he gets worse as the season goes on simply because he seen the prior coaches as a joke and the team wasn't going anywhere so he was the first guy to check out and go rogue and not give a damn. Hopefully RKs coaching is good and Risto stays mentally involved all year.

I’m happy for Larry. His line has played great. Nice they got rewarded.
I do give Housley credit for putting Larry and Z together, defining a roll for them and leaving them together.

Gilmour made it over Nelson, interesting.
Maybe due to his lack of response last year when Jack got head shotted.
IDK maybe things were/are different for him in the room now after that.

Cody Hodgson came back for the unveil?
Or is that Timmy Connolly?
It's Jake McCabe and he's the new captain, who knew!

Well, if they keep Risto and run with Risto, Montour and Miller on the right, that's not horrible I guess.
Bogo is righty also.

Is there a breakdown of Ristos corsi numbers for the first 41 games of the season only?

They just killed their entire league. Dumb.

With the current status of the Sabres could Skinner be waiting to see who is hired as coach before he signs here or elects FA?
Did he not sign earlier in the year because he wasn't a Housley fan?
Whatever the case, hope he signs here.

I think he maybe targeting Keefe and Martin is just a filler to make it look like he is doing something.

Going in circles. To each their own here.
If Pavelski gets up and walks away the actions of Eakin are never talked about again or even mentioned. A freak accident resulted after Eakin committed, at most, a minor penalty, and Eakin got dinged for it. Dumb call.
What was the end result of Eakins cross check?
-
1 minute ago, Thorny said:
The cross check alone is not what caused the injury. It was the cross check in combination with another player then running into Pavelski. How can Eakin be responsible for the incidental contact from Stastny that randomly caused an injury? It makes no logical sense.
If there is no cross check Pavelski doesnt go off balance or leave his skates. Eakin started it and Stastny finished him off. The end result of the cross check was a head injury.

Then why didn’t they call it on Stasney the one that drove him to the ice. They also didn’t even call it till they seen he was hurt.
If Eakin doesnt cross check him to go off balance Stastny doesnt push him down. So the cross check started the incident, correct call IMO.

It was odd, looked like he took a cross check to the face, I'm wondering if his face shield cracked and cut him when he hit the ice?
That's what I seen also, a cross check to the face/head and that caused him to go down awkwardly.

Yet some would rather keep this guy opposed to Risto who is never hurt, younger, cheaper, plays 25 minutes a night, and will even get you 40+ points, smh!

And Jones was the only one of the two that should have been in the NHL at all that year.
Risto’s Hockey IQ or lack there of has been called into question many of times
And when we hear that certain players are uncoachable on the Sabres, guess whose name is always the first mentioned.
Over 50% of his production up until this season came on the PP.
A saavy GM will look at the data below and see a huge difference with the exception of the power play.
Lou I hope you are right and some GM overpays for him, I wouldn’t hold my breath though.
Trotz, Laviolette, Torts, Richards vs Housley, Bylsma, Rolston, Nolan.
IMO, coach quality has made a huge difference.
30 other teams would take Risto in a heartbeat and here in Buffalo fans cant wait to get rid of good players. SMDH!

Yes, he needs to get a lot stronger but he's fast as hell on skates.

I firmly believe that Risto's stats are bad because we broke him. He has spent too much time trying to be the #1 guy and makes mistakes constantly out of position trying to cover for his D partner or for forwards left unchecked. If he had entered this league paired with a guy like Chara he'd be an allstar now. So the question is, is he broke forever or can he be fixed with a better pairing and coaching where he relearns how to play his area and his responsibilities? I guess that's what JBot has to decide but I bet if he goes to a team with a solid D system we will regret it.
To add to this, I think Risto sees the coach, former trash coaches also as having poor gameplans, poor system, just poor coaching and checks out sooner than the others.
Would love to see this guy with some good coaching. I think he would flourish on another team with a decent coach and that's why I wouldn't want to trade him.

Yep. Said this exact thing last week. If AV gets hired, definitely a good chance Lindy comes here as asst if he wants to.
Does Lindy still live in Buffalo?

Surprised it went so fast though, didn't even have player exit interviews.
Yeah me too, JBots must have made his mind up awhile ago.
-
Does this mean Skinner stays now?
-
As it sits right now I would not have Thompson in my top 6 maybe not my top 9, and he's definitely not a 4th line guy. Don't think it will change much starting training camp, I would try and trade him. Will be 22 a month into the season with over 100 gm played, trade him for something.
-
I kind of hope JBots includes Tage in a trade this offseason for a C2. 21pts in 106 games, never really lit it up in junior/minors anything, going to be 22 in Oct.
I'll take my chances and move on, IMO Tage isn't going to amount to anything.

Hasek is arguably the greatest goalie to play the position, ever, you can not say that about Perreault, great yes but not in Haseks league.
I do agree Perreault probably meant more to the history of the franchise but as time goes on that viewpoint will wane some.
