The Sabres hold the Kansas City Scouts to eight shots on goal in the entire game, defeating them 3-1 at the Aud.
Kinda like what Ottawa just did to us......

-Did anyone see the lame "Carubba Collision of the Game"? It was Tallinder getting away with a penalty as he sent a guy flying into the board by tripping him up.
The best Carubba Collision was Pyatt's hit on Briere....

I know the schedule is brutal, but starting Marty tonight after the stellar performance Miller had on Saturday is an indication that Lindy actually has a rotation in goal other than "ride the horse until he is dead".
I think Lindy learned a valuable lesson. Ryan was admittedly TIRED at the break, and was in need of a few days rest. Think lindy is making sure not to overwork him this time.

The Sabres actually are better than most at playing hard throughout a full game, but I agree that lately it looks like they're taking some time off & getting away with it. As long as it stops come April, I'm ok with it.
That's the point though... IF it stops. They've been winning this way, which gives them that confidence and sense of security. But it puts them in that habit, and that's NOT a good habit to get into.
I expect that this game was a sound wake-up, and we should see the benefits of that this week.
PA, why in the world are still dogging that poor girl? Or are you just wanting to see all the rest of her pics and dont want to ask? :P

Once again, I've supported this team all season, and support them as much as i can, and LOVE what they've been able to accomplish. But with all that, I really feel they could still do better than they have been. They've been able to put enough of an effort to win, and that's great. They're winning one goal games that they used to lose. There is no quit in this team. They play hard for each other, MOST of the time.
I can go on and on with all the great things this team is doing this year, and it's fun and awesome and incredible, etc, etc, etc....
But they STILL have not put in a full 60 minutes in MOST games. Tonite they needed at least 40, and couldn't do that. Briere said he was "embarrassed" by the effort, and without actually saying it, Ruff was about ready to bench half the team.
Look at the goals... max lets up on one, Kalinin on another, Briere on another, and the combination of Tallinder/Kotalik on the empty netter. Every one can be attributed to a player being in position to make the play, but STOPPED skating when it count. That is not playing 60 minutes.
This was a battle for #1, not the Penguins. You don't stop skating until the whistle.
All that being said, they know they played awful, so it shouldn't get in their heads too badly. But this game was a confidence boost.... and they failed.

Yeah, they really suck, don't they? <_<
PTR
Don't put words in my mouth.
They don't play 60 minutes of hockey, but they've been good enough to win without having to against most teams. This is one game where they had to, and they knew it going in, but STILL didn't. 49 shots against, please don't tell me you think they actually played well, or even remotely to their ability......
-
There were some non calls both ways, and some weak calls both ways..... the refs didn't cost us the game in any way. Equally bad works out about the same as equally good.....
-
Nice to see Miller back to form.
Roy played the best of the Sabres skaters. Actually had a decnet game I thought.
Kalinin did well for the most part, except not husdtling on that one goal.
Briere played well, but again, waiting on the puck that one play led to a goal.
Should NEVER have gotten beat for that ENG, but was par for the game, with their legs in cement for a lot of it.
Once again, Sabres just can't put 60 minutes together.

I hope Peters gets Neil to go, because I wanna see Neil get pummeled into the ice, I hate that guy
...umm complete bonehead penalty by campbell...what is he thinking
Speaking of... Dumont almost blew it. WTF was he thinking jumping in like that????
-
That was a great PP. One that just gave you the feeling they were going to score the whole time.
I didn't have that feeling. I was wondering if they were ever gonna SHOOT THE PUCK.
I believe Roy has been our best skater tonite....
-
Could this be remnants of Montreal? Just maybe? Please??????

I'd call that HARD lemonade tonite....
LOL.. Great stat... Heatley outshoots Sabres.....

Kotalik draws a penalty by SKATING (a novel concept)

Chara sounds amazing. That two-man advantage kind of sums this one up. Lifeless.
I'm sorry, but we made Chara look much better than he should have. No attack whatsoever. You could see the play was going in that direction, and no one went after him.
-
Dead in the slot with a perfect open shot, and tries to pass off..... UGLY
3 on 1 and nobody went to the net..... we NEED to get it together
-
Briere SCORESSSSSSS.... without the puck......... :o
-
McKee just got burned, BADDDDDDDDD
-
It wasn't all defense pinching, it was mostly Ottawa out skating us. The 2nd goal started with Briere waiting for the puck to come to him instead of going to get it. "Waiting" for it will just not work.

7 or 7:30????
7:00, and STILL not soon enuff

OK. Blame me for the loss.
Sabres 6-2. I know I'm cursing them. But I see the two teams evening out by the end of the year. After the early blowouts by the Sens I see the Sabres returning the favor.
I already regret this post.
Duck DeLuca, I just bought a Glock 45

Maybe it felt better because of what bob-sauve would call the "first love" factor. I don't know. I do think people tend to romanticize the past.
Here's another way of comparing the Perreault and Hasek "eras" -- Perreault won 42 playoff games in 17 seasons, Hasek 45 in nine.
That's why I said "arguably." :)
You can also look at that in another way. More teams in the playoffs in hasek's era, which is an extra series.
If the french connection had Hasek instead of Bromley, or vice versa. Hmmmmmmm

I know Hecht's out 2 weeks but does anyone know if Connoly's playing tonight?
Advice from Doctors is to rest the knee a little longer. In Lindy's quote... "we need a healthy team weeks from now". So no, he's not playing.
I guess I can agree with that, much as I hate to see it.

Thanks for all the comments..... ONE stinkin point!!!!!!!
