  1. http://www.freep.com...troit-red-wings

Detroit Free Press mentions Myers trade talks

... Myers is Buffalo’s top defenseman and the asking price is going to start with one of Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar or Tomas Jurco. Buffalo might well ask for Anthony Mantha, but the Wings aren’t relinquishing him. One player alone wouldn’t do it, though — there would likely be a high draft pick involved, too, maybe even a second player, someone in his mid-20s.

That’s a considerable cost, but the Wings have to consider that as they stand right now, they don’t match well against division mates like Boston, Tampa bay and Montreal, much less the teams that stalk the Western Conference. A trade for an impact defenseman would make things look a whole lot rosier.

    Proposal:

Nyquist + Smith + 1st in exchange for Myers

    or

Nyquist + Tatar + 1st in exchange for Myers + Armia

  2. Now that Darcy is in Arizona, perhaps he can influence getting a few of his own players.

to AZ: Myers, Hodgson, Armia, Stafford

    to BUF: Yandle, 2015 1st

    - Buffalo then would need to add cap space.

Some options would be signing Steve Ott or Dany Heatley

trading for Vinny L, Patrick Marleau, Kris Letang, Sergei Gonchar etc.....

  3. Ahhh, makes sense.

On O'Reilly: Sakic said that they plan on talking long-term extension now that free agency and the draft has settled. He's in their plans for the long-haul.

I think Murray also mentioned the trade involved a winger....so probably Stewart who was nearly sent there at the deadline.

O'Reilly is very good but overrated IMO.

Despite Legwand signing, the #Sens are still trying to get something else done via trade.

  4. My guess, yes. Where/when did he say that?

I copied it from the Sens section on the HFBoards. It was in his talk after the Legwand signing.

The other day, Shane Prince was pulled out of Sens development camp and was spoken to by Bryan Murray. He is from the Rochester area, 21 year old LW .... and had expressed interest in a trade previously.

I'll toss out a few ideas..

Stewart for Shane Prince + Chris Driedger

Stewart + 3rd for Shane Prince + Mark Stone

Stewart + Pysyk + 2nd for Cody Ceci + Shane Prince

Stewart + Hodgson + Adam + 2nd for Curtis Lazar + Shane Prince

    Stewart + Hodgson + Mitchell for Chaisson + Wiercioch + Prince + 2nd

  5. Murray added this about potential additional Senators transactions:

We continue to talk, we've had discussions about a trade that has gone on for a period of time now, it's just a matter of if we can get satisfaction both ways.

Stewart??? Tim Murray hand picking a prospect or 2?

  6. Now that Legwand has signed with the Senators.....perhaps Murray calls Steve Ott. IMO Murray was waiting to hear back from Legwand.

O'Reilly is still available until Saturday. He is only 23 and had a great year last year. Sakic totally pissed him off by taking him to arbitration over his contract, I think we could get him. He is young with a huge ceiling, very talented and not a midget (6ft 200 lbs). Would definitely help us down the middle. Maybe our number 2 center behind Reinhart?

    O'Reilly for Hodgson + Grigorenko + BUF 2015 2nd + throw in (ex. Luke Adam) ? I think that's pretty close.

    O'Reilly + COL 2015 1st for Myers + BUF 2015 2nd is also very interesting.

  7. I completely agree with this post.

Except one thing: this isn't irony.

I just keep thinking that when Pat/Murray/Nolan took over, they basically trashed Darcy for trying to rush a bunch of kids to the NHL who weren't ready. First order of business was to send Grigo and Zadorov back to juniors, send Risto and Pysyk to Rochester, etc. So, I find it ironic that most here are immediately penciling an 18-year old kid into next year's lineup. I think it may be best to send him to juniors for another year unless he shows something truly special in camp. Otherwise it could be a repeat of the Grigorenko situation.

If so, then having another veteran forward around would make a ton of sense.

(all pure conjecture on my part, as always!)

except Reinhart has played over 200 games in junior right? and how many had Grigorenko played? Not nearly as many.

  8. Seems to me like they are waiting for Legwand to pick his team. When he does, if it is the Sabres....Ott signs with his #2 choice. (Flyers? Leafs?) If Legwand signs somewhere else, Murray calls Steve and signs him.

  9. Tomorrow I want to see something similar to one of these below (Murray you raised expectations!)

    Hodgson + Stewart + 2nd to OTT

    for C.Lazar + S. Prince

    Hodgson + Grigorenko + Enroth + 2015 1st (STL) to WPG

for Evander Kane + Ondrej Pavelec (Tank Commander) + 2015 1st (WPG)

    Myers + 2nd to DET

    for Nyquist/Mantha + 1st

    3rd in 2015 to PHI

    for Vinny L. + 2nd in 2015

Ott signed to a 1 year 4 million deal for deadline trade bait again (probably unrealistic, so 2 year deal)

  10. There's the wildcard in this. I'm okay with keeping Hodgson. But I have to remember that GMTM knows what's in Ottawa's farm system, has seen them up close. If he thinks he can upgrade by trading CoHo, I have to say I can't really disagree.

    Lets make it fun:

    Hodgson + Stewart + Grigorenko + 2015 2nd for Lazar + Prince + 2015 1st

  11. I know Brian Murray has wanted Stewart for awhile, even when the was still on the Blues. With the trade of Spezza it will be interesting to see what direction they are heading in rebuild or attempt to make the playoffs.

"We sure could use one more NHL centre," says Murray. #Sens

Stewart + Hodgson would make sense for both teams....just depends on the return. I'd ask for Lazar but doubt we could get him.

  12. Saw this on another forum..... "Anyone else see this French radio station citing a deal is being finished between us and Ottawa sending out Hodgson and Stewart?"

    Anyone know about this??

    We'd like Lazar please....

  13. i think this idea has some solid potential. couple higher tier free agents get to play first line minutes and lead some young players for 2/3 rds of a season and then get to pick what team they go to for a playoff run? I can see some vets and their agents liking this idea

Lets get on the horn right now shall we!! GET IGINLA!!!!!!!

I didn't watch a ton of Flames games this past year, but from what I saw Butler is still a below average defenseman.

Butler is Tim Kennedy on D basically.

  14. Post what lineups you'd like to see when 2016 rolls around!

    E.Kane - McDavid - P. Kane .......... Absolutely terrifying

    Zacha - Reinhart - Ennis

    Lemieux - Stastny - Girgensons

    Foligno - Boyle - Deslauriers

    Myers - Yandle

    Ristolainen - Zadorov

    Pysyk - McCabe

    Goalie? Ullmark maybe

    (Boyle, Stastny signed via UFA)

(Hodgson, Grigorenko, Armia traded in packages to acquire E. Kane, K. Yandle)

(Stafford, Stewart dealt for picks/prospects at trade deadline)

(McDavid, Zacha drafted via BUF, NYI 1sts)

(Pat Kane signed via UFA. 8 years 88 million, + Pegula bonus off the books 20 million and minority ownership of the Bills ssshhh! )

I feel this lineup is a great mix of high end skill, physical presence and desire.

  15. I'd like to snag Brian Boyle. He is someone I would give the longer-term deal to. The guy is huge at 6'7. Hes good on face-offs, plays with heart, sells himself out to block shots. Just a great team player. Makes me think of a 1980 US Olympian type. If we are good in 2-3 years, guys like him are so crucial to team success in the playoffs. He also has a decent pair of hands.

A dream world would have us landing Iginla for 1 year 10 million and selling him on top line ice time and leading the young kids. Then we deal him at the deadline to a team of his choosing.

(1st round pick return required!) Obviously that is very unlikely to happen. Reinhart's favorite player growing up was Jarome Iginla.

    B. Boyle for 4 years 18 million.

Ott for 3 years 12 million

    Gionta 2 years 8 million

    Orpik 2 years 7 million

    Moulson 1 year 12 million :

Trade at deadline! (to team who plays the most games against NYI after the deadline)*

If Tim Murray is actually able to sign some of the above names to steep $$$ 1 year contracts (as I'm sure he would want to) and then retain salary and trade them at the deadline for assets, he is a genius. Especially if that happens to be Moulson.

  16. I hope TB buys him out....I'd claim him. Hes still young and a fresh start could turn him into a 70-80 point player.

He could also help lure Kane here as they were a dynamic duo for the London Knights. Great chemistry.

  17. Leafs: Stafford + Ruhwedel for David Clarkson + Dion Phaneuf + 2015 1st

Clarkson's contract is so brutal for what he brings that Leafs would have to forfeit their 1st to move him.

    Jets: Hodgson + Grigorenko + 2nd for Ondrej Pavelec + Evander Kane + 2015 1st

    Oilers: Tyler Myers + Drew Stafford + 2nd + 3rd for Jordan Eberle + Sam Gagner +1st

  18. I'm not excusing it. Your original post in the separate thread was completely unprompted and completely off-topic. Here, I made a post after six/seven other posts talking about the same thing that are actually related to the topic at hand and added my own thoughts. It's not off-topic when there's a series of posts discussing it and it fits into the topic in some way.

And "scolding?" That's a joke. I said one small thing and it wasn't scolding or rude in any way. I simply pointed out that that thread wasn't for trade ideas. I didn't mention specific trade ideas, but other ways to acquire the leaders that the original post is looking for.

It's pretty laughable that I point out something (just like many other posters do) and it turns into a never-ending barrage. Give it a rest.

Some folks are always right..... oh well!
