  1. The other unspoken part of this rebuild is the cap space being created.

It's going to take at least a year or two before they will capitalize, but the Sabres are going to be in a position to take advantage of other team's cap issues moving forward - they'll have the room, the will and the prospects to offer.

They may have to overpay for a few free agents next summer just to reach the floor.

In those few years won't we need to start paying our prospects in order to keep them though? That is assuming they amount to be as talented as we all hope they are.

  2. C - Ott - I like what wjag said above. A team should be channeled through its captain. Ott has a natural energy to him and reminds me of a Briere, go-tema-go kinda guy in interviews. I have to believe that same attitude comes out in the locker room too.

A - Vanek - Veteran team leader at this point. However, due to language barrier or just plain personality differences I don't think he expresses himself well. Again, I think this probably translates to the locker room as well.

A - Weber - He's really come into his own with the Sabres organization and is a great example to younger Sabres regarding teammate protection (ie facewashing people like Carcillo when they get in Miller's crease).

  3. I'm really excited to watch when they get to the point where the aliens come down in their flying saucers and try to take over the planet.

Seriously? And im the one who gets roughed up about spoilers in this thread?

  4. Actually, I grew up in WNY.

As for being a dick -- which one of us posted a spoiler? And which one of us is name-calling? And which one of us just posted a negative generalization about people based on where they are from?

    1) It's not a spoiler

    2) Wasn't name calling, was identifying.

    3) Me, because stereotypes can be fun!

My statement was based on the few years I've seen you post things seemingly just to stir the pot. This you have a history of doing; not me. Saying "Not new threadworthy" is typically not new postworthy.

Anyways, I'm being drawn into an argument with somebody who thrives on it. This is foreign territory to me and you are a pro. I'll go back to doing my thing and you'll go back to doing yours. I'm just a tad feisty today as I am officially old today :-P.

Enjoy the show, spoiler free (But do pick up the books!).

  5. Just finally watched the episode today. Wow, that was awesome. This show just loves making you feel every gut punch. Jaime protects Briana (sp?) in his first moment of non-dickishness ever and then... well... Jaime Lannister, let's give him a hand, folks!

About to watch it again when my sister gets home.

Brienne* ... and yeh ... you may actually end up liking Jaime. I want to post in this thread so badly but having read all the books I don't want to spoiler everything like I did for all my buddies at work :-P. So, definitely keep watching. Amazing series. Definitely recommend the books.

  6. So.. this is extreme thinking for the future. But I wonder if newborn babies are immune to the zombie virus. CDC guy said "we're all infected" but that doesn't mean we can assume that the disease can go from mother to child (even though most diseases can I suppose).

    Interesting thought anyways.

In the comics both Lori and the baby die at the same time so this is a bit off course from the comics. So has most everything thus far though I suppose. How the F is a baby going to survive in this world though?!?

  7. So you've never imagined how it would all play out for you if there ever was a zombie situation? Isn't there an industry built around people doing that? Books, video games, movies, TV shows.......yeah, I can see how that would be completely ludicrous given the billions of dollars people are making from that. <_<

You may not want to watch anymore. I don't find Michonne to be too unbelievable actually. You do know there are tons of crazy people around this country right now planning and training for the sociopolitical collapse of this country right? I would go so far as to say some are even prepping for a zombie apocalypse. I don't find it to unbelievable that there might be a chick who knows exactly how to combat zombies and she ends up being completely right when said zombie apocalypse actually occurs.

  8. So seriously, which of the Sabres' lines does this kid center? He wasn't getting the playing time or opportunities, they say, in Vancouver because he was stuck on the checking line, so does Darcy think Lindy's going to give him a chance at the #2 center role???? The ONLY way that is true is if Lindy thinks that his new "son", derek Roy, is his next checking line center, because no way it's going to be little Ennis.

Roy, aside from his top-line salary, would make the smartest choice to center that shut-down 3rd line, IMO. Anyone else disagree besides korab? :P

This is a good point. WHo the hell will center that shutdown line now? I almost feel like I could see Boyes being thrown down to that line and centering again like the tail end of last season before I could see them throwing Roy, Ennis, Leino, or "the new guy" there. I have no idea though.

  9. Gotta love Liger and his gang of millenial misfits.

Starting revolutions and changing the world one byte at a time (as long as the facebook servers don't crash).

    I miss him already.

    GO SABRES!!!

I may not buy into Liger's "millenial" posts at face value as I have not performed the research necessary to know whether he is posting valid scientific fact and / or theory or just pure garbage. But I will admit that all of the Boomer-era folks who have responded along the lines of "Ahhh ya silly kiddo and your theories ha ha ha" brings to mind mental images of "older-generation" folks telling Darwin he was nuts while he was doing his research on birds in the Galapagos Islands. Or the same type of people laughing when theories arose that the Earth was actually round[ish] rather than flat.

  10. Some fun facts about Drew's Hat Tricks last year. Here's the result of the Stafford hat trick games that IF they don't count:

    Dec. 15 - Vs Boston - 2-0 BOS (a -2 point swing)

    Jan. 1 - Vs Boston - 6-3 BOS (a -2 point swing)

    Feb. 8 - Vs Tampa Bay - 4-4 (a possible -2 point swing)

Feb. 13 - Vs New York Isl. - 6-3 NYI (a 0 point swing as this was a loss anyway)

Oh yeah and we missed the playoffs because his hat tricks didn't happen.

I'm not defending Drew Stafford, but it is silly to ignore his goals.

  11. Otis put her in the barn, and he's not talking - thanks to Shane and a hungry group of walkers.

Yeh, it probably happened while Rick was making his three million prayers in that zombie-infested church with his thumb up his ass.

  12. That was a nice touch. The girl was in the barn. In the previews for next week it looks like the survivors turn on each other. It should be good.

Unfortunately, the preview you saw was for the second half of season two which won't air until February. I agree though, nice touch with the Sophia in the barn trick. We called it two or three episodes ago though :-P.

As for another one of my gripes, the kids still being kids in a world where kids need to be grownups, is finally being tackled. I like how Carl is growing up almost instantaneously as of the shooting. Now we just need mommy to die off so she can't coddle him anymore. How the F**** would they survive a pregnancy / birth in this world anyway? Baby wakes up screaming for the teet at 3am ... I'm sorry but there's no fixing noisy.

  13. Good episode. However, I am still tempted to rename the show "The Walking Sophia". Come on .. find a zombie kid and get it over with already.

Actually, how hilarious would it be if like somebody said, all the zombies in the barn were family and they keep feeding people to them.... and one of them was Sophia? :-P
