  1. Houston isn't dumping Brock just yet. The Rams have a new HC too, awful line, and Goff. Arizona could work though

Romo would only be playing for a SB at this point and IMO, he doesn't stand a chance with any of the aforementioned teams. So maybe he just fades off into the sunset and Jerry hires him into the Cowboys front office.

  2. Worked okay for Denver to sign an old QB who had 4 neck surgeries. Romo isn't Peyton, but he's a top-10 QB in the league if healthy. Not that I expect he'd choose to come here if Dallas cuts him, but I think it's definitely worth the gamble.

I think Denver having the #1 defense helped out a bit. Question is could Romo stay healthy and why would he come here when he could go to Houston, possibly Arizona, the Rams, or even the Chargers should Rivers get traded.

  3. I hope Romo's stock is depressed enough that he has to come here for a couple of years and it's a bargain, instead of us having to live with Tyrod or worse for those few years instead.

I hope we're not so desperate as to sign a 36-year-old QB that's had two clavicle breaks and back surgery and pay him big bucks.

  4. I don't think anyone out there knows exactly how to evaluate a QB for success at the NFL level. Sure, your Andrew Luck's pop up every decade or two but it's usually just luck no pun intended.

Rogers lasting until the 21st pick, Brady going in the 6th, Prescott in the 4th. Not only did every other team miss on those guys, the team drafting them passed them up several times.

There is no formula, there is no sure fire methodology. For everyone of the aforementioned, there are 20 guys that everyone thought would hit and now they are bagging groceries.

Wait, what about that one who actually was bagging groceries and ended up a Super Bowl champ ...

  5. Well there are 116 D1 colleges that run offenses not to mention the thousands of coaches that have coached in the NFL that currently aren't. It's not like their are only 4 guys on the planet could do the job. As long as Nate Hackett follows Marrone, It'll be fine.

Wow, just what we need ... a D1 college coach wth no NFL OC experience. Thousands of coaches that have coached in the NFL that currently aren't ?

I admit there are more than 4 that can do the job, but how many can do the job well ?

  6. Remember last year at this time they just got done playing the *hardest* 2 months of hockey for their season, they had just played all the best teams in the league. The last 2 months of the season they looked  *improved*, they just played bad teams.

January and February of 2017 are their hardest months for this season. If they go .500 we will be very lucky and they will have to play a much better game. Playoffs are a dream. The same amount of points at the end of the season as last year are wishful thinking.

The additions in the summer of 16 should have made this team better. This teams record should be much better at this point in the season.

    edit:

    Grading....

    Player effort B+.

    Coaching C-.

The players are trying but spinning their wheels in the coaching mud.

    Playoffs ain't happenin ...

If you take the gold standard for 8th last year ( 93 pts ), Sabres would have to win 26 of the remaining 40 games. They'll be lucky to get to 80. Our top scorer is tied for 69th in the league ...

  7. Too much focus on Tyrod and not enough on the defensive failure this year. EJ is probably a goner, Cardale is not ready (why not if we use Prescott as an example) and Cousins is the only free agent worth going after. Stick with Taylor and fix the D.

  8.

Cut and pasted from a posting on Rotoworld:

Tyrod Taylor will meet with a doctor in Philadelphia to determine if he needs hernia surgery.

The Buffalo News reported earlier Thursday that Taylor has been dealing with a "severe groin injury" for the better part of a month. The Bills' plan was to sit Taylor this week so he wouldn't get hurt, but it's already too late. Taylor's contract calls for a guaranteed $30.75 million if he can't pass a physical by the start of the new league year. A hernia operation will have him borderline. It's a potential worst-case scenario for the Bills, who have shown Taylor they don't believe in him. E.J. Manuel has already been tabbed as the Bills' starter for Week 17.

Something don't smell right here ...

If Taylor had a groin injury the last month, why would the Bills play him at all given the risk of worsening the injury and having to pay him the $30.75 mil in March if he was not recovered by then ? Sure didn't look like he was running with any distress the last 3-4 weeks.

  9. There is no doubt in my mind that a press conference should have been held with the Pegulas, Brandon, Whaley & Lynn to explain the Rex firing, Taylor benching, and future coaching search plan. The end-of-season presser could've been cancelled.

  10. According to Twitter Whaley is supposed to run the next search for a HC. We'll see if that's true or not soon enough

If we don't give it to Lynn, odds are he bolts for another HC position. Why don't we give it to him, leverage his OC prowess, add a solid DC, trade Tyrod for some picks and give Cardale the ball next year with a vet as backup ?

  11. I hate it, I do, but NE is gonna be very very hard to stop. They look plain juggernaut status.

NE winning is the best thing that could happen to the BIlls ... get Brady his 5th and then him and Belichick can take a hike.

  12. In my teens and early twenties I'd eat 20+ wings no problem, now I eat like 15 tops, and usually 10 or less. Although I normally have a small (sheet sized) piece of pizza or two with them. My metabolism has always been pretty bad though. I just started caring a lot more in my 30s is all. I found that as I was watching my diet more, I could eat less without feeling hungry. Over time my portions started shrinking, and I got used to it.

I tend to overindulge in my eating whenever I'm back in Buffalo though, especially wings. I used to love getting Chicken Finger subs from Johns on Grand Island back in High School too, but I haven't had one of those in maybe a decade.

Likewise ... when @ Buff State, 4 beef/cheese burritos from the Mighty was a staple after being out all night. Now i'm good with one ...

  13. Never understood the shame of those videos I love them. People are having fun despite a crap franchise, it's awesome

It was going on when the franchise was awesome in the late 80s - early 90s ... and the behavior was just as bad and just as fun. Nothing's changed other than stricter DUI laws.

  14. How? Here are three reasons:

    1. Brady + Belichick. The greatest QB + head coach combo in NFL history joined the Patriots in 2000, the same year our playoff drought began. Starting each season with two guaranteed losses and no hope for anything but the final two playoff spots makes life more difficult.

    2. Ralph Wilson. Before the turn of the century, he was already known as one of the worst owners in pro sports. His meddling and miserly ways turned off many GM's and coaches over the years - Rauch, Saban, Knox, Philips, Butler, etc. But following the Tom Donahoe disaster and Russ Brandon's ascent, Ralph's incompetence rose to a new level. Marv Levy, Dick Jauron, Buddy Nix, Chan Gailey, Doug Marrone....we're talking completely out of touch with the NFL here. There's a direct correlation with the decline of the 21st century Bills and the decline of Ralph's health.

    3. Quarterback. This has become far and away the most important position in pro football and maybe all of pro team sports. The new NFL rules have made it so that the old "ground and pound" strategy that WNY has loved since the AFL days leaves little margin for error, while having a franchise QB means you're almost never out of any game. Moreover, a "franchise" QB now means much more than a guy with amazing athletic skills. You need a guy who is mentally strong - unbelievably hard-working, ultra-competitive, and able to process information very quickly on the field. Since Kelly's retirement, the Bills franchise has been largely unwilling to acknowledge this paradigm shift and allocate resources (i.e., high draft picks) accordingly.

Two years into the Pegula regime and it looks like the franchise hasn't learned anything. The good news is that everything doesn't need to be blown up this offseason. Not even close. The current Bills are a competent head coach and a competent quarterback away from being a perennial playoff team.

Interesting note: if the Bills win their last 4 games, if the Broncos lose to the Patriots in week 15 and the Raiders in week 17, and if the Dolphins lose to the Patriots in week 17, then the Bills have >99% chance of making the playoffs according to most online stat and simulator models you see online. So basically, the Bills are as few as 3 realistic game outcomes away from controlling their own playoff destiny. As always, of course, the hardest part for the Bills is taking care of their own business.

Might be wishful thinking as the game is in Miami and the Pats might be resting Brady & others that week.
