I think Dunleavy is below average in every way, pretty much across the board. I guess his voice sounds fine.
That said, if the Athletic article was based on some sort of actual data (unclear to me that is the case or not) I think it's possible that a bunch of fans who read and post on a Sabres fan forum all off-season are perhaps not representative of the majority of fans that may consider Dunleavy a good announcer.
I.e., maybe normal people do in fact, like him.

I'll be rooting for the Oil but expect the Cats to win the series.
I'd like to see McDavid and Draisatl get their name on the Cup and the folks in Edmonton just appreciate it so much more than folks in Miami.

Slash is touring to support this album, but not with the high profile guests. He is with his normal backing band and vocalist.
I have tix to that one in Artpark. August, I think.
I am seeing him in Denver a month before you. Sound familiar? 😀
It's sort of a mini festival. At the Denver show it's Keb Mo, Samantha Fish, and Jackie Venson opening up.

Okposo’s line gets caved in and gives up a goal. Looks familiar.

When I see that Cancer PSA commercial with Trouba and his Mom I wonder to myself “does she know her son is a dirty POS hockey player?”

My wife and I just got tix to see Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band coming to the Fallsview Casino at the end of July. Excited to see one of the last remaining Beatles!
Saw the All Starr Band in Canandaigua two years ago with my youngest daughter. It's such a fun show. Ringo is 83! I remember seeing him at 81 and thinking it would be great to be that capable and healthy as he was then, when I reach that age. He had one minor 'senior moment' but made light of it and just kept on going. His band was so great. Edgar Winter is amazingly talented.

Next concert up for me is this coming Saturday. It's a bucket list item; the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville.
They announce the acts as you get closer to the date. So far, 5 of the 8 or 9 we'll see have been announced. One of the announced acts is Loretta Lynn's granddaughter who was just on American Idol (I didn't see it) and another is golden oldie Crytal Gayle who is Loretta's sister, so I would guess they do a song or two together.
If anyone has any Opry stories or insights I'd be happy to hear them.

When I lived in NJ and got to go to some Rangers games at MSG with my buddy who had tickets, I didn't mind them. But that was long ago and far away so my natural dislike of NY City sports teams kicked back in and I actively root against them again.
However, since moving to Denver and getting acclimated in year 1, I found it easy to make the Avalanche a 'second favorite' team, especially since they are (a) in the Western Conference (b) Good) and (c) fairly likeable.
But if the Sabres are 100, the Avs are like a 10 and my next favorite teams are 9, 8, etc.

The Stars are basically a "friends with benefits" team: I'll spend an evening with them but there's not really a strong emotional attachment.

I feel like he's played really well every time we've faced him on Seattle.
They love him in Seattle. I would love for the Sabres to get him for the bottom 6. He's at $3.5M for this upcoming season, then UFA.
I don't see Seattle trading him, more likely he signs an extension. He's heart and soul of that team.

Bummer of an outcome.
And yes, Mitts didn’t have his best game tonight.

Start of double OT and I’m still here.
The wife took the car home after the first OT. I’m getting a ride home from neighbors. -

Michael McLeod is a 26yr old player on NJD that you could probably get and would have familiarity with Ruff. Since I have clearly lost the FOW debate, he has a career 58.3% and also 101 hits in 45 games last year. Would be someone that I think is a UFA because his last contract he didn't sign a qualifying offer but was just given a standard contract for 2 years. That is if I understand the CBA correctly. Still, this is a guy that fits perfectly at #4 center and can play some #3 center in a pinch. Career high of 26pts last year and a career high of 10g this year.
Have the sexual assault charges been dropped and he is exonerated? If not I’d just as soon they stay away from any of those guys.

McDavid didn’t get back to cover Miller on that late goal. Hesitated, and it was gone.

Casey with the go-ahead.
I am really rooting for an Avs win. If there is a game 6 on Friday, I'll be there.

Relative to Appert's record at RPI...that was a tough situation to coach in. The administration was very unwilling to support the hockey program to the extent required to be competitive in the ECAC. I think he did alright given the challenges faced.
Not saying he's the best pick for the Sabres bench, but I don't hold the RPI years against him.
(In fact, working for a team where 'management' is unwilling to provide the necessary tools to win might be instructive for being with the Sabres)

Benn even left the ice to get Toews up high and no call.

FFS. The Leafs aren't trading Mathews under any circumstances.
But if Gretzky can be traded....
(sorry, I just feel that's it's obligatory that someone says this every time an unlikely trade option is discussed. Leafs aren't trading Matthews)

I believe this is called the Mike Tirico Syndrome. For a football fan with at least half a brain, it can be fatal over time. The only cure is turning off the sound on the broadcast or going the bathroom when it starts picking up, usually with canned, gaudy graphics.
