  1. This could be a snake way of saying he had somebody else do it. See JBotts.
  2. We are totally splitting hairs here, I get it. We are not far off. But again to the bolded I really don't think that is the case. I think Terry believes he is a good owner and Kevyn believes he is a good GM. His EOY pressers all started with "I need to be better" and ended with "I think we did enough" or "on paper I think I did a good job". These are guys living in the clouds. These guys are the dumbest clowns in the worst circus clowns in the worlds dumbest circus. If these two orchestrated anything successfully it would be the first time.
  3. For sure. Again, why launch the franchises biggest hire in a decade on a Friday? Especially when you know this piece is twisting in the wind. This is maybe the best article on the Sabres in recent memory.
  4. This implies that this is calculated by Adams. I know Adams is proud to call himself a friend of Phred the Phoenix (this is actually how they spell it), but I don't believe that is the case. I think Pegula and Adams are on the same exact page. Kevyn isn't a yes man, he is in agreement. I think that difference in ineptitude is worth noting.
  5. Sitting with this today. Sort of hilarious timing from the Sabres org. Curious if Fairburn was sitting on this waiting for the hire. From a new cycle perspective the Sabres botched this. They announced their most exciting FO move in maybe a decade on a Friday without any great mouth pieces to give it much spin. ...Which gave time for somebody to write/and or release an article detailing how your dumby GM, who is the most notorious failure currently employed by an NHL team, has been a sounding board for the dumbest NHL org since the day he bought the team. I am curious if this was always set for a 6/2 release and/or when it was written. Because if it wasn't they could have gotten a day or two of positive weekday press before this came out. And the next crazy (dumb) thing is that because Fairburn was sitting in KBC with employees, that somebody must have thought they all went well, like really well, otherwise you would think they would know an article about Adams qualifications as GM was coming.
  6. Quick question, is Larry Playfair the one who is ultimately responsible for the misspelled jerseys? I would feel a little better if it was. These guys can barely get degrees from the University of Phoenix online after all.
  7. The MBA isn't important. But I think Fairburn does a phenomenal job of low key setting the stage throughout that Adams has both had Pegula's ear since the beginning and is woefully unqualified in every way. He let it hang at the end of the paragraph perfectly. At this point Adams is a meme, palm trees and University of Phoenix online. I don't know if his kids are in HS or not, but if they are it has got to be pretty rough for them at this point.
  8. Not to rehash history on the Eichel thing. I always thought that the club didn't agree to the disc replacement because they just wanted Eichel out, wanted somebody else to assume the risk, and maximize trade value. So I just had a double cervical disc replacement like 7-8 weeks ago for myelopathy. I got opinions from 2 different top 10 spine surgery centers in the US. The guy who did the surgery is the co-chair of one of them. Both said, "easy peasy, double disc replacement". We briefly chatted about Eichel, nothing crazy, just that it wasn't some new aged surgery like the Sabres made it seem. Both had done single level disc replacements on pro athletes in contact sports with success. But even than still rolled up into what I though anyways... Until.... Shortly after I had a friend go to UB Neuro for herniated discs in their neck and UB neuro told them that they don't do double cervical disc replacements because they aren't FDA approved. I had my 6 week follow up and asked my surgeon and he said that there are reasons to not to do a double disc replacement but FDA approval isn't one of them. It is crazy to me that UB Neuro could be so far behind on what was considered a super common surgery from both my neurosurgeons. I am so grateful I live an easy train ride into NYC. I am still pretty young and a double fusion would have severely limited my mobility for the rest of my life.
  9. I don't think anybody thinks it is. Having one from a program that used to advertise at 2am between girls gone wild segments isn't an accomplishment for somebody in the upper levels of a major sports franchise either.
  10. A little bit of hypebole and tongue in cheek. Terry is the owner of the team, it is his fault. But it does sound a little like Fairburn is trying to imply that Adams has had Pegula's ear since very early in both their tenures with the Sabres. Then when he got fired when they cleared house under Ruff, Terry kept him on at the Harbor Center. Remember when we used to hear about Terry's secret meetings early in the drought. That might have actually been Kevyn Adams. Which is forking insane to think about. That Adams has had Pegula's ear for almost all of the the duration of the draught.
  11. Also, can we talk about the fact that Kevyn Adams got his MBA at the University of Phoenix Online? Like Terry Pegula has given a bajillion dollars to Penn State and is a focal point in the local community with loads of investments and the very best Adams could muster was The University of Phoenix Online. I would expect that like other organizations/companies there was some help from the Sabres in crediting him for this. What a joke.
  12. God I hate Adams more than I did before. Am I the only one that picked up on the vibe that Adams has been somebody whose been getting in the way of good hockey decisions because of Pegula's stupid flat management structure? I feel like this is Scooby Doo, it's been Adams the whole time!
  13. Honestly? Let's get this out of the way with Ruff in the building. Jarmo loses that battle with Pegula of it is Adams/Appert as GM/HC vs Jarmo. But if it can be Jarmo/Lindy vs Adams the fans stand a chance for a new direction.
  14. If the Sabres can solve this they'll be fine.
  15. Funny to think that somebody in the org thinks that Jarmo or somebody like him needs to learn the ropes. See my rant against Adams as POHO above, and the fact that this was a thing that somebody, ANYBODY, in the org actually thought, let alone said, is why you cannnot keep Adams in the building let alone promote him to the top floor.
  16. This keeps coming up but I forking hate it with all my heart. This is no more serious of an org with Adams as Pres as it is with him as GM. Adams total lack of vision and direction is the reason he's sucked during his entire tenure here. And people seem cool with promoting him to a roll that is almost entirely...checks notes....vision and direction.... Adams as President is a miserable decision for the franchise. He's a Terry enabler. Look at the Bills, part of the reason they work is that it's McD and Beane vs Pegula. Now do that with Adams as POHO. It's Terry and Adams vs Jarmo. There are now two Pegulas outvoting real life front office people. I think it was @Thorny who made reference to the 70's Steelers turning the corner. But it turned out Art Sr. just handed the keys to Dan Rooney. If promoting Adams to POHO is seen as a real life fix for this org, we are better off just rooting for Pegulas retirement and one of the kids taking over.
  17. That quote sounds like a guy that's already prepared to fight the whose talking about not wanting to come to Buffalo because of palm trees and taxes. Hey Terry, if you're listening, if you can film Jarmo punching Kevyn in the face, I'll sign up for 4 season tickets that same day.
  18. The reason it is a something-burger is because we already jettisoned quality players in the name of vibes and culture. We have spent 6 years replacing them to improve all that, and now it seems we have the core of those players being like "meh, still sucks here". To top it all off, the guy in charge of fixing all that is the guy the brought them here and created the vibes/culture these dudes and HC hate.
  19. I get it but I am also not sure the pre-Vietnam War era of the NFL is relevant to modern professional sports. But if it is, the solution is actually pretty depressing and unfortunate for both Pegula and Sabres fans. Dan Rooney took over the team as GM and then later as President in the late 60's. Then Art Senior died in 1988. So if the Sabres are congruent to the late 60's/early 70's Steelers Pegula will have to give up control of the Sabres to a kid and/or then die. You have actually made the outlook much worse. Like soooo much worse. Like Art Sr. didn't luck into anything, he just relinquished control and then died. Sooooo, thanks for that...enjoy your weekend Sabres Fans! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_M._Rooney#:~:text=By early 1969%2C Rooney was, operational control of the franchise.
  20. I think the one thing Terry misjudged in all of this, is that by doing the very least amount possible, like literally nothing, he's out the final nail in the coffin to convince literally everybody on the planet that he is THE PROBLEM in Buffalo. Like, he could still half ashed dodged the bullet had he fired Adams like everybody on the planet was screaming for him to do. By not firing Adams I think he actually made Buffalo an exponentially worse destination than it already is. And that isn't hyperbole. It's still not too late. Fingers crossed but it's a wet dream I know we are all riding the JA17 high, but I don't know how anybody isn't terrified of the post McBeane/Allen era assuming Pegula is still walking the earth. I truly believe he can permanently ruin all of Buffalo sports if given the opportunity.
  21. This is also where I have a hard time understand the Sabres valuation of $1B+? Like lets go down that road? NHL: The Buffalo Sabres are worth a BILLION US DOLLARS! Fans: OK, it is worth a $1B, so surely it is a good investment to buy the team and keep it here? NHL: Eh, $1B is a tough number in Buffalo. The city can't support that in NHL sales. Fans: Understood, so if it sells you will have to move it to a more profitable city? NHL: Actually, no because it is even more profitable for us to just start a new team from scratch. Fans: Terry, can you sell the team to somebody local who can end the misery? NHL/Pegula: Absolutely not, because valuation. None of this is real.
  22. The scare is that this is the first domino to fall. We can convince ourselves/write off the idea that Byram wants out is also the Sabres not keeping him so it is mutual. But Peterka was supposed to be a long time Sabre. Part of the solution. And it turned out that he was a pretty good forward. So if Peterka asks to leave at the end of his contract, who else? Tuch? Thompson? Dahlin? It could get really messy.
  23. Terry stubbed his toe, and at his age you can never be too careful so he's handing off all ownership responsibilities to literally anybody not named Kevyn Adams or Jerry Forton.
  24. My relationship with Pegula became vile when Adams had that wildly smug disaster presser and Terry didn't come out and Stone Cold stunner him live at the podium, announcing that nobody talks about his hockey team that way. "Nobody wants to come here,we don't have palm trees and we have taxes" should have been cause for a public forking beheading.
  25. This iteration of failure sucks because it really felt like we could have been close. Sure we had better players before, but Dahlin, Tuch, Thompson, Benson, and to an extent Peterka really felt like a unit. These guys had some talent, comraderie, and werent totally miserable to be here. We haven't had that in a decade. And at this point I'm not sure if Pegula is ever capable of putting it together. The best thing Pegula could do is reach out to Danny Wegman or the like and ask for his best and final to keep the team here. If Terry gives one flying fork about hockey in this town he'll find somebody to buy the team and keep it here, even if it's around 85% of market price.
