  1. That was pretty clearly a “come here and explain the decision” signal to me.

But thanks for posting the recap! I only saw highlights of the goals (blacked out on NHL.tv, couldn’t find a reliable stream). Some crazy sequences in that game.

You can always get any replay on youtube the next day. Type in the teams and the year.

  2. My question is what was Babcock saying to the ref after Larsson's goal was ruled a good one? Of course he was angry but at one point, he was rubbing his thumb and index finger together in the ref's direction. To me, that implies that there was some money or payoff involved? I wonder. If so, it would be interesting to see what the league says or how it responds. Anyone else see this?

  3. The Kane deal kind of reminds me of the Dareus deal...dump the talented misfit even if it means losing the transaction. I tend not to believe Botterill when he said the owner wasn't involved in the decision....Kane produced but with our untalented players and unstable team structure surrounding him, he wasn't being maximized here. Plus he wasn't going to get  $7-8 million for being a 20-30 goal scorer on a losing team, not with his history...The days of overpaying misfits are hopefully finally over for the Sabres. Now that Kane's on a good team, I think he will finally become the high scoring power forward he was always meant to be. I see great things ahead for Evander Kane with the Sharks. It wasn't going to happen in Buffalo...

  4. Fair... sort of. That they share only a last name is kind of a low blow. Evander is closing in on 200 career goals. He's been a 20-goal scorer with the Sabres. His ceiling is, what? 30-35 goals. He's big, fast and nasty. These guys are not a dime a dozen, yet the Sabres had to take some sticks and $5 off if you spend $25 coupons for him. A little curious?

  5. I like how the efforts are getting more consistent and they're not getting the yips and giving up in games, ever since the Dallas game.        Now that Eichel is gone for awhile, there are guys like Pouliot, Wilson, Girgensons, and Antipin who are having revivals. They are getting more confidence and are playing consistently better. Maybe the team is actually gelling. Then again, It might be a dead cat bounce.

  6. I for one hope that Kane is NOT traded and stays on and signs with the Sabres. I think he likes it in Buffalo. I think he likes Eichel and Reinhart and all that. He is in a unique spot where he can be a hockey hero to black kids and he is active in that community. Buffalo is one of the very few markets where you see black people as hockey fans...always has been this way and they're terrific.

  7. I metioned earlier in this thread that im not comparing Zucca with St-louis, but Zucca is not far behind him.

Zucca is i the wrong team imo.

Ive seen Zucca since 08, i know he is more talanted than you might think. He got atleast 5 more years easy peazy.

Moulson and Gionta are two perfect examples of players that are in huge need of a good center or they pretty much fail, Zucca is way better then these two, i know you just used them as examples looking on age etc, but im just saying.

Anyway, we wont agree on this one for sure, but i strongly believe Zucca would do us good.

If they do decide to pull the trigger, I hope you re right.

  8. I dont believe youve seen to much of Zucca (?) correct me if im wrong, but there is a reason he made it to NHL and within NHL.

He can stand up for him self.

    Look at Martin St-louis.

    Edit:

Id take Zucca over Kane any day,

Kane has 550 NHL games, 297 points

Zucca has 356 NHL games, 279 points

I like his hands and I like his speed but Martin St. Louis had almost 1000 points in this league. Last I looked Zuke had 8 goals this year. He has only had 20 goals once in his eight year career and that was 2015-16. Seems like he may be declining. Similar size but St. Louis was a superb player and and Zucca is merely good. I agree though he's probably a better hockey player than Kane. But I don't want to invest in older players. They all want big, long  contracts and they are hardly ever worth it.  I've seen all that Moulson, Pominville, Gionta etc. had to offer and it wasn't much and it wasn't for long.

  9. . I think they have some that can work as evident by the power play and goalie pull. There just not enough to make up 2 full lines let alone 3 lines necessary to be successful.

Yes Lehner sucks with the lack of talent on this team. These guys cant put the puck on the tape especially Risto lately. Antipin seems like the only guy who can pass and Nelson seems to be a lot better passing too. But the rest of the D have no touch.

Forwards: Kane is an atrocious passer, same with Pulliot and Erod. These guys need to practice the weave and any other passing drills they can come up with.

Get rid of all the bad passers and bring in the good passers. Passing is a skill that should have been mastered by now but apparently these guys are too tired or they don't take it seriously.

  10. I attribute the way Jack looked in the second game more to his usage and competition more than disinterest.

Although, trying that same power move to the middle of the ice two shifts in a row against Burns was a little troubling. 3v3 is a finesse possession game. There's just no reason to try that,… twice, but at least he was trying.

I'm guessing that they wanted Jack to be the defacto D man because he was probably the only one fast enough to, if not match McDavid's speed, minimize it. And if I'm not mistaken, McDavid was kept off the scoresheet. That's no small task.

Sounds reasonable. Despite the last game clunker...for different reasons...he has just started to scratch the surface as a terrific player and has much more great hockey in him. He's a horse and has unique skills. Overall I was pleased at how Jack represented our team. It looked like he was having fun out there and enjoyed the special comraderie of the elite players. Hope it gives him a boost.

  11. For everybody's entertainment, I'll share my take on Eichel in the two games he played today. In the first  game, he was spectacular. He made great passes and plays and was a constant threat. But in the game that counted, the game that would have meant a $1 million prize for him and his teammates, he came up small. Maybe what someone else said was right...he was cast in an unfamiliar defensive role by the coach and he didn't engage. There were times that he looked like he was confused or he didn't care. For that, I wonder if he teammates wanted to kick his ass. $1 million is a lot of dough to s the bed. I think the early goal got him down and he got rattled. As a Sabre, he understands losing all too well; he felt that lump in the throat and the head went down and things started to go south...

But there was probably a combination of things happening...his teammates didn't step up either, the Marchands, the Auston Mathews etc. were pretty invisible... The bottom line was his team was outclassed by the McDavid team. I don't blame it totally on Eichel but he didn't lead. But chalk it up to experience. Maturity is the issue and I think eventually he'll be fine. He's only 21 and needs more time.

  12. Dude. Coming from me: a guy who went for the throat at all times in a thread we'll never talk about again... delete your account.

If you read the exchange, I was stating my opinion, which was correct, that Eichel looked lost in the second game. I didn't get personal with anybody. Then xyz attacked me and I'm just defending myself. So now all the asshats are piling on. I'll go on expressing my opinion here, just to annoy you all.
