Everyone talked about Dallas depth but their lack of depth in defense is turning out to be key along with Little Joe doing nothing in the playoffs. I don’t think Edmonton can beat Florida.

Certainly not with all those ex Sabres playing for Florida.😂

To me its done by hopefully the top guys staying healthier and a better Power Play.

-A healthy Tage (and him on a slightly better PP) gets you close to 50 (maybe more if everything goes right, 20 more)

-Tuch COULD give you anywhere from 5-10 more than this past year.

-Cozens hopefully can get back to 25 (5-10 more)

-Peterka has a chance or progressing and giving you a handful more (another 2-5 more)

-You get 10 more (give or take) more from a healthy Quinn.

    -5 more from Benson

-The D-corp gives you 5-10 more than this past year.

Of course if all that did happen it needs to offset (in my opinion)

-5, maybe 10 less from Skinner. (I think he is about to hit that 'over 30 year old' wall, hope I'm wrong)

-No Mitts (assuming his replacement is less productive)

-Dahlin might give you  more points, but less goals.

You just described a perfect storm of good fortune. Things will fall somewhere in the middle when you account for injuries, dumb luck, sickness, regression, etc. what this team needs to do is study the best PPs in the league then study what other teams do to stop them, then study how the best PP will counter the teams that stopped them. Its not rocket science I mean just look at our team and the people running our PP. They never seemed to adjust anything and I can almost guarantee they never looked outside to research the methods the best teams employ. Aside from trying to stop them in game.

  3. It all starts at the top. TP and KA are joined at the hip. The meddling is real. They employed a coach and to a lesser extent a coaching staff that were unprepared and underperformed. The team they iced was constructed with inexperienced players in vital positions and given the hard asignments that they couldn’t handle. Add to that the training camp debacle and the 3 headed monster and the injury to Quinn etc etc etc. its a shitshow. KA has an opportunity to fix this, i don’t think he will get it right.

  4. We have no choice but to give him more time. When his time is up we’ll know it. Hopefully he at least gets them a spot in the playoffs. Its anyones guess how they’d do but watching the current playoffs the roster as its currently constructed wouldn’t fare to well. They are not built like the typical nhl model. Maybe KA can break the mold and have success. I have my doubts.

If this were accurate, the guy would be 50 lb. heavier and wearing cargo pants and sandals with socks.

You know what they say. Too fat to fly and um er ***** I forgot what I was going to say.

I think it’s weird how some things fix themselves in people’s minds.

In it’s genesis, “don’t block the kids” was about force-feeding the Botterill leftovers Thompson, Cozens, Mittelstadt, Dahlin and Jokiharju key ice time to accelerate their development, build their confidence and see what the team had. By and large, it did what it was supposed to do. The team improved notably and those players pretty significantly.

Year 2, it was about giving the 2nd wave - Power, Quinn, Samuelsson, Krebs and Peterka - a similar opportunity, but in mid-roster roles. Those players were younger and predictably didn’t have the same impact. But they did show they belong, and the guys in front of them took big jumps. By and large people were happy with the improvement and were predicting good things ahead.

Year 3, “don’t block the kids” wasn’t really a thing. I mean, I guess it was in goal, but it also kinda worked in goal. Elsewhere, they didn’t hand jobs to Rousek and Rosen and Kulich and Ryan Johnson. Instead, they blocked the kids, re-signing Girgensons, and Okposo and Jost, and adding Robinson and Clifton and Greenway and Erik Johnson.

It wasn’t not blocking the kids that killed last year’s team, it was the fact that most of the above veterans sucked. And they sucked while Thompson, Tuch, Skinner and Cozens - all of whom all now count as vets - also sucked. The players who stepped up - UPL and Peterka - happened to be the kids who weren’t blocked.

This “not blocking” hasn’t been the problem for Adams some of you make it out to be.

Rather, it’s been putting together a consistent, focused and complete team.

I agree with the not putting together a consistant, focused and complete team but when you are still the youngest team in the league and also playing under an internal cap that the moronic owner insists on you are not really putting anyone in a position to win or develop and we can see that in the results. With the youngest team in the league I have to question if the ‘ don’t block the kids ‘ has actually stopped. Add the questionable coaching staff and coaching decisions and you have a perfect storm of mediocrity.  This team has to do better.

Yeah, I get that.  I too shook my head at the "blockers" concept.

ROR never really said he wanted out did he?  Even though he probably did want out.  The Sabres did stupid, and got rid of a guy that hates losing.

He was just sick of losing.

We need more of that hate to lose energy for sure. But its a fine line. Not to the point of wanting out but to the point of wanting to be a part of the solution. Accountability , yada yada yada.

So, you could care less. I’m at rock bottom. I could not care any less about anything anyone says in a press conference than I do right now.

We have heard it all by now and nothing has improved. Well except our prospect pool but thats a result of how terrible the parent club has been so…its a wash.

No. He was out there right to the end and he set up a good attempt at a tying goal.  Playing with two lifetime 3rd line grinders in Nyquist and Sissons.  All are 30+.

It shows in the playoffs that having grown men on the team helps.  We need more.

What’s wrong with Canada having teams alive?  It’s their top sport.

Actually Punch I’ve been calling for an end to KAs moronic ‘ don’t block the kids ‘ rule for a couple seasons now. Its obvious when looking at any team that wins in this league that capable veterans are a staple of success. My comment about ROR didn’t have anything to do with his age. It was a shot at his comments when he left the Sabres. Actually I don’t blame him for wanting out of this shitshow.
