Why not?   Renovate the building.  Fix the entire way the game is produced and marketed in that region.  Build a team the right way.  If they had a great team fans from WNY, Southern Ontario, Rochester, Syracuse would be coming to games and going crazy.  It’s a great market being wasted.

    I agree

  2. I just don’t understand this thinking hiring unproven GM and way too many coaches that can talk a good game but not get the players fired up to play every night. This whole coaching staff needs to go and we need a proven tough coach and better assistant coaches. The whole culture needs to change. If I owned this team I would be pissed. I would say this is unacceptable and if you like to keep your job then you better put the work in. What gets me is when you have a winning team your revenue and building start filling up.

I have a side theory that Pegula is clueless how to run a hockey team and persistently hires the wrong GM.

Crazy thing is why hire crappy GM’s and coaching staff. When you put a winning product on the ice that will drive up its value. I believe a tough coach along with solid assistant coaches would hopefully put this team on the right track.

Blues played a great road game with their back up in net.

The Sabres disappoint the home crowd once again.  Terrible performance.  No urgency. Nothing.

    I want change.

I think we all do, their’s no hustle, no determination to win puck battles, no hitting. Even the Sharks work harder than the Sabres and they suck! If I still lived in Buffalo there would be no way I would get season tickets. They are a joke of an organization and what player would want to join that ***** show. How ***** pathetic just like our President! Now sure which one is worse, they both ***** suck.

Can we fire Granato and his whole coaching staff please. No hustle, no passion, and it seems like no accountability. This team needs a coach who is going to put fire in their ***** and if you don’t skate hard then you sit the bench. We need a defensive coach or two to work with their defense especially Power. Way too soft out there.

Please Stop.  The man is top 10 in almost all categories for the position.  Clearly a #1.  Does not excuse the fact if he brings in that 70 yard pass they probably win the game.  They needed to score a TD on the last drive and didn’t find a way.  Team failed.

Is the city cursed? Thirty years ago I would have laughed and said of course not.  If we are living in a simulation, there is a likelihood that the Creator/Programmer has some kind of algorithm to inflict pain on our fan base.  This loss cuts deep.

As someone that moved away in 89 and have followed the Bills and Sabres the city is definitely cursed. I always tell people don’t get too excited about the Bills because they find new and creative ways to blow games and have been doing it my whole life. The Sabres on the other hand have taken losing to a whole new level. GM after GM have ***** up the rebuild and unproven coaches aren’t helping the situation. I thought the 2006 Sabres were the best shot at winning the Cup but that team was decimated by injuries throughout that playoff. Losing 4 of their top 6 defenseman along with Connolly who was on fire until he was concussed. That team was really good. I have never seen a city that has gone through so many painful defeats than the Bills.

ESPN is silly. This morning, every coach that lost this weekend may/should be fired. Winning teams get 10 minutes out of the hour. Failures get 50 minutes.

Blow it up ! Start over !  Look at us yell !

ESPN sucks! All they talk about is football and basketball. I’m tired of listening to that idiot Stephen A Smith. Couple of guys I work with watch that crap religiously. Once, both of those sports started pushing their political agenda’s I was done!

  9. I’m glad Cutter doesn’t want to play for Philly. ***** that team and their shitbag fans. Only fans worse then Philly fans are Boston fans, For the folks that don’t know about Drysdale the guy is always hurt.

He’s going to be a good one.

To me the first overall pick in 24 will not make the kind of impact that Bedard is making. Bedard was by far the best player last year in the WJC.

idk what is going on in E Johnson's head but I look at a guy like Clifton and have to wonder. Sure he came to Buffalo because they promised him a starting job (he was 7th D in Boston) and they paid him 3-4 times what he was making there so of course he came but he isn't anything like what I saw in Boston. There he was a fearless hit leader and he worked his butt off all the time. Here he floats like the rest of them and only throws a hit occasionally. Gets caught out of position (in fairness that happened in Boston too but forwards covered for him) and is basically an ineffective bottom level D man. It's like something happens to you when you get to Buffalo and you realize you no longer have to be accountable. Some sort of laziness or lack of interest creeps in and you just laugh all the way to the bank.

    Lack of accountability from management/coaching

Lack of accountability to the leadership core (if we even have one)

Lack of accountability to the team and the jersey

Lack of accountability/concern with what fans think of them

It's just rotten through and through.

Yeah you’re right. Here is the thing I just don’t get. Why any owner would be okay with this is beyond me. I know it’s a process to do a rebuild but no playoffs for how many years. At the end of the day I want to put together a Stanley Cup contending team year in and year out. It means season ticketing sales, merchandise sales and popularity among fans not in that market. Why in the hell wouldn’t you want that. I understand your not gonna be the top dog every year but this is just too much that the Sabres fans have been going through!

This is true, and I've talked about team defense for years (it was the "easier" part according to Meatballs) but I don't put the blame on Power. I put it on a team that expects a kid his age to come in and be a team's number 2 D man right away. It's an absurd concept to say the least.

Yes you’re right. Worst thing is giving him a big extension without proving yourself more. They need a gritty veteran defenseman who can help these kids get to the next level. To me it’s mind blowing that any GM or head coach can be happy about their play this year.

There is no accountability anywhere from coaches, to players... The only shake up so far has been juggling lines and for some odd reason benching our best defensemen on most nights Ryan Johnson. Other than that not a single assistant coach has been let go, the power play is inept and yet whoever runs it continues to run it and same with the defense. At the very least bring in some better assistants who can help these guys because they're falling flat on their faces.

I liked Don Granato developing the young talent on our team, I thought he did a masterful job getting the kids prepared but now when it comes to maturing their game I think this is beyond his expertise imo, we now need a hard nosed coach with solid assitants to help mold their game and fine tune them into better overall players. We have some pretty big players on the team and almost all of them are afraid to hit and get hit or stand in front of the net. We lose so many faceoffs, our goaltending is sporatic, way too inconsistent.

Kevyn Adams has been abysmal at identifying the right veterans to pair with tthe youth, every single veteran is struggling probably because Granato's system or lack of is terrible but most likely because our vets are slow and on their last legs or just not very good. Okposo and Girgensons never should have been re-signed, we had opportunities to upgrade both and it back fired, we brought in 2 defensemen in Cifton and Johnson who were both benched in the Stanley cup playoff runs that they had. Also why in the world have we not gotten a veteran goalie worth a damn other than old man Anderson since losing Ullmark? You're telling me not 1 goalie wanted to start in Buffalo? I know Murray opted to stay in Ottawa or wherever he was at but I find it hard to believe we couldn't overpay a single goalie in 3 seasons and we put all our eggs in a rookie goalies basket which is never smart to do.

I'd start with letting go of all the assistants responsible for the power play, PK and defense, in no way shape or form do i want Matt Ellis as this teams head coach when Granato is let go.

    ^ This I agree with

When I watch this team play, and it's becoming a slog, I see a poorly coached team. They look like absolute world-beaters at times (dominating wins over NYR, VGK), then look like the worst team in hockey the next game. There's no consistency. The head coach won't bench guys to hold them accountable for poor play and/or effort because it seems like he's more interested in being their friend or afraid of hurting feelings. Get an experienced HC who can whip this soft-serve group into something resembling the bill of goods we were sold. This team is not responding to Granato's methods anymore. There's regression nearly across the board.

Now, whether KA will do it...doesn't seem likely. Accountability is lacking throughout the organization. We'll see how Pegula reacts when they're skating in front of 3000 fans in February. I know if I lived in/near Buffalo I wouldn't piss away my hard-earned dollars to go watch these guys trying to play something resembling real hockey. This was supposed to be the year they ended the drought and instead, they're peeing down their leg. We deserve better.

    Agree 100%

I really hope after this game everyone will stop saying the goaltending situation is not a problem.  The Sabres do NOT have a #1 tendy on this team this year and it has been obvious all season. Levi will be great, but he’s not there yet…

It’s not just the goaltending, their team defense is atrocious. Plus someone needs to tell Power it’s time to bulk up, get tough and work on that foot speed. Your offensive leaders in Tuch and Thompson need to bring it game in and game out. Both have been lollygagging way too much. If you are gonna keep Granato then fire his assistant coaches. Even if the Sabres reel off a handful of wins by some miracle, I still don’t see this team making the playoffs. I think a lot of analysts think Buffalo was gonna be a decent team but still not a playoff team. It should be interesting to see what happens if the losing continues.

  15. I absolutely love the Sabres but this is becoming a joke. The fans of Buffalo deserve better like alot better! I for one actually like how the Sabres have drafted but they need a leader on the backend that can bring more out of Dahlin and Power and the rest of the young defense. Plus after Kyle Okposo’s contract was over he should have been let go. And then making him the Captain. No, but hell no. Plus Granato isn’t the right coach for this squad. They need a coach that’s tough who can get this young group to play hard. It’s embarrassing how they are losing. Absolutely no excuse for this. They look like run and gun pickup hockey playing ***** defense. The team defense is non existent. If your a forward and your not gonna back check hard then you might be sitting on the bench or the press box.

Now onto the people that want to talk about the NBA or the NFL. Both leagues have lost a ton of fans. Sorry, but after the NBA and the NFL got too political that was it for me. I’m done with these losers. I know a lot of people have turned away from both. Your job is to play a sport and we don’t want to hear about you being targeted by the cops. I think most of the country is tired of hearing about this crap. I know I don’t want the NBA in Vegas as that flipping idiot Lebron wants a team here. It will bring more idiots from California here who are like a cancer just ***** things up in each state they move to. Besides a lot of the crime that happens in Vegas is coming from California.
