It's a long season, and if you can still get a point on a night where you're not playing your best, you're doing OK.

It's a different roster, but on paper it's about the same as what Housley was working with, maybe even a little worse. Olofsson is playing great, but he has no resume in the NHL at all. None of the other new guys were superstars in their previous uniforms, either.

That was a classic, maybe the sweetest goal of the tank/post tank-but-still-tank era. And if I had to vote, I would rank it a notch higher than Sinner's tonight, for the extra skate-around involved.

I have not been following the Sabres off-season at all this year. Knowing the NHL roster deadline was recently passed, I checked in on sabres.com today to see who they were suiting up this year. WOOF. That is one of the most anemic forward groups I have ever seen assembled. These guys are going to suck out loud.
Well, that's all I got. Go Sabres.

The only reason for hope is the possibility that the losing was all Housley's fault. Otherwise, I see largely the same team, with a few tweaks but no big difference-makers added to the mix.
The fear is that there is yet another rotten 'core' in Buffalo.
I expect marginal improvement, but still more losing than winning.
