You are completely correct about questioning the watch list as all of what you said is either a secret or non-existent. I encourage anyone out there who has an opinion on the matter to visit nssf.org and support their programs FixNICs (improve existing laws which are broken rather than pass more broken laws) and Project ChildSafe (free gun locks). Neither the republicans stonewalling everything nor the democrats knee jerk legislation will help the situation.
