Let's say they win the lottery. What if Adams announces that they would trade the number one pick if whomever takes it also takes Skinner and his entire contract. Would you do it?

Asked about with the cap space the Sabres have, would there might be more action in free agency than in years past. Adams then said the following:
"Yea, I think it's a balance you know? It's a fair question Jeremy, and I never, you know, get totally caught up. I know people really look at cap space and say okay are we gonna go right to the cap. There's never been an issue with us spending, it is about trying to build the roster and be methodical about the way we do it. We will definitely target free agent or free agents if we think it makes sense, umm you know obviously it can get tricky. When you get to unrestricted free agency, if you get into that game, you know often you are overpaying either term or dollar or both. You have to be comfortable with that. Yea I would say this year something you know, we've done it last year adding Clifton and other guys over the years, it is definitely something we will look at. But to me, it's about winning hockey games. It is about putting our roster in the best position to kinda round out our group. I like our core. I really like where our goaltending is at. I really like where our D core is at. I believe in our talent up front. I think we need to round out especially our bottom 6, become harder to play against. I think we need to add a little bit more physicality, just be a little bit grittier. Have more identity in that bottom 6. Those are the things that I believe and we'll be talking a lot about over the coming weeks so if there's players that fall into that mold that we think can help us we'll go after them and if not we'll look for trades or other ways to do it." - Kevyn Adams
Edit: https://www.audacy.com/stations/wgr550/shows/the-jeremy-joe-show-0f40c/episodes/f9982e2fa293 right around the 9:21 mark on the nose, Jeremy asks the question and you can here the response I typed out.
Interpretation: He's going to have to pay Quinn, Peterka, UPL, Jokiharju, and Byram soon. The Skinner contract blocks a big-time top 6 signing. Best we can do is a few cheap bottom-six forwards.

Are people going to start burning their Leafs jerseys?

In 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 we did not have a team that would have - in the end - benefited from what a Pat Maroon-type player brings. The idea is a non-starter.

Probably. and they are supposed to lose to Florida too
but with Swayman playing the way he is absolutely anything is possible.
My theory? Florida has too many ex-Sabres on the roster and the B gives them nightmares 🙂
Wrong generation, grandpa.

Maurice has no answer for Montgomery's strategy in addition to Swayman being covered in fly paper.

Well, "duel" is quite the right word.

Stunning.
This is a coaching duel.

Florida looks.... Bad.
They did this last year. Forget what series. Came out looking like they were going to get swept but turned it around next game.
I would be concerned if they lose two in a row.

Holy moly.

Let's not forget they didn't start Bob a few games in last season's playoffs because he was doing dumb things.

Nah, that's on Zacha for running Bob over and putting him on his back. Not sure why Florida didn't challenge. Looked like he was still in the crease to me. But wtf do I know, lol.
Bob played the puck poorly prior to that and he rushed back to the net. He put himself out of position above the crease where the collision was legal.
-
Uh-oh.

That one is on Bob.

Yes, Sabres South.

Finally. I wonder if it will be reviewed for off sides.
Nope.

Boston looks much better than I was expecting. They just don't go away.
The Panthers starting a series slow is not unheard of, too.

The Panthers is my "local team" here on east coast Florida. Hoping they win it all.
I'm rooting for the Panthers as well, but won't be disappointed if Mitts lifts the Cup.

Conference finals: Carolina - Florida and Dallas - Edmonton
Too soon to call either conference final IMHO. From the looks of game 1, Carolina is not likely to overcome the Rangers. Dallas had to go the distance with Vegas, and Vegas would have been thoroughly creamed by Colorado.
-
Not shocking.
-
Rangers had Carolina panicking all third. Svechnikov will take a lot of heat but by then the chances of winning were slim.

Well, I guess we now have to wait. Our pick plus a prospect and/or player could net us a nice return for a top six plus a high first round pick (25+) especially if the player we throw in is Power.
