Observations: Fatal mistake in final second spoils Sabres’ better road performance

‘With the Sabres attempting to hold the puck along the wall to take the game into overtime, the Rangers’ Adam Fox pried it away to set up the winning goal by defenseman Ryan Lindgren with 0.4 seconds remaining, sending Buffalo to a crushing 5-4 loss.’

Sabres allow late goal, suffer painful loss to Rangers: ‘It stings’

‘“Everybody in the building knew the scenario and the clock, the situation,” Sabres coach Don Granato said on a Zoom call after Ryan Lindgren scored with 0.4 seconds left in the third period, giving the Rangers a dramatic 5-4 win inside noisy Madison Square Garden. “We were no longer in a situation to score a goal, so the primary focus should have been on being in a defensive posture to make sure we didn’t get scored against.”’

Rangers stun Sabres with last-second goal to win 5-4

‘“Great atmosphere, great energy in the building and lots of momentum swings,″ Sabres coach Don Granato said. ”We did a good job until about two seconds left. We didn’t react well enough and that’s disappointing.”’

Sabres stunned in last-second loss to Rangers

‘Ryan Lindgren scored with 0.7 seconds to go in the game on the 13th New York shot of the period. His second goal of the season came after Mika Zibanejad was able to receive a pass from the corner. Zibanejad and Adam Fox were credited with the assists on the game-winning goal.’

Sabres lose 5-4 to Rangers in the final second of regulation

‘At each intermission, the game was tied. A quiet first period was broken wide open by both teams in the second. In less than a two minute span, each team scored two goals. Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin picked up tallies 15 seconds apart. Those were book-ended by Rangers goals to send the game to the third period in a 4-4 tie.’

Sabres fall in heartbreaker, give up winning goal to Rangers in final second

‘It was an overall back-and-forth game, as neither team gained a clear advantage throughout the contest. One team would score, then the other would match it, and both sides went punch for punch in a game that ended with nine total goals.’

Rangers top Sabres on goal with 0.7 seconds left

‘”We definitely tightened up in the third period, squeezed our stick a little more,” Buffalo coach Don Granato said. “But I didn’t feel we were bad. Again, I guess the word I keep using is hesitation. We need to be assertive. When we struggled in the third, we hesitated, maybe took a step back. … These situations that’s happened to us in the last few days, when you’re not getting what you want, you tend to be more hesitant, and we can’t have that happen.”‘

Sabres fall to Rangers on last-second goal

‘”We just have to make sure this doesn’t take away from progress and make us hesitate,” Granato said afterward. “These situations that happened to us in the last few days, when you’re not getting what you want, you tend to be more hesitant, and we can’t have that happen.”‘
