Observations: ‘Fast,’ effective Sabres show some resilience with another comeback

‘This game illustrated how far the Sabres have come in only two weeks and the power of ending a 34-day run of futility that plummeted Buffalo to the bottom of the NHL standings before former coach Ralph Krueger was fired.’

The Wraparound: Sabres complete comeback win in fans’ return to KeyBank Center

‘Encouraging signs: Taylor Hall seems to be waiting for his ticket out of Buffalo, but he has shown glimpses of strong play in recent games. The former Hart Trophy winner had an outstanding chance in the first period, driving to the net, cutting across the slot and unleashing a backhanded shot that slid through the crease.’

Sabres Notebook: Don Granato-Seth Appert connection to make jump to NHL easier for Amerks

‘Many of the subtleties we’re seeing from the Sabres under Granato were used by Rochester Americans coach Seth Appert during his time with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. That’s not a coincidence.’

Inside the NHL: A quick Q&A if you’re already thinking about the draft

‘Assuming they finish 31st overall, the Sabres can drop no lower than No. 3 after Colorado (2016) and Detroit (2020) fell to No. 4 despite finishing with the worst records in the league by far that year.’

Sabres finally winning again, playing confidently: ‘It’s all come together’

‘“The last few games it’s all come together and we’re playing a lot better,” center Casey Mittelstadt said on a Zoom call. “You can feel it on the bench, just the belief and the battle out of everyone.”’

Sabres’ Rasmus Dahlin starting to settle down, put struggles in past

‘“We need him to take a deep breath and we need to get him in the situations where he can read and react and I say ‘learn from it,’ but it’s more adjust to it,” Granato said on a Zoom call prior to tonight’s game against the New York Rangers at KeyBank Center. “He has such a high skill set, when a mistake is made, he can self-correct quick and we want to put him in situations where he’ll learn and have the opportunity to self-correct quick.”’

Sabres’ Brandon Davidson enjoys stint with Amerks, unhappy with officiating

‘“That’s all it is is repetition,” Davidson said on a Zoom call following the Amerks’ 6-2 loss to Syracuse Crunch at Blue Cross Arena. “For myself, it’s been hard kind of finding my way into the lineup. For me, right now, I think it’s just nice to get out there and find my game again. You need to play. Practice only gets you so far.”‘

Olofsson ties it late, Sabres top Rangers 3-2 in shootout

‘“I think he’s probably one of the best goalies in the world,” Olofsson said about Ullmark. “He’s so patient. … It’s really hard to figure him out. We feel really confident with him on the penalty shots, for sure.”’

Sabres avenge Thursday’s OT loss with shootout win over the Rangers

‘It was a less-than-thrilling overtime between Buffalo and New York, as the teams combined for two total shots in those five minutes. The shootout was up next as a settlement still needed to be reached.’
