‘Buffalo got it to a shootout knowing Linus Ullmark is the best goaltender in NHL history during shootouts with a .868 success ratio. To qualify you have to have played in 10 shootouts. This season Ullmark has stopped 12-of-13 shootout attempts including all three on Saturday. What was impressive was Artemi Panarin is one of the most talented players in the world. He had already scored two goals in regulation time and in five games against the Sabres this season has three goals and six assists for nine points. Panarin had plenty of moves coming in and Ullmark didn’t fall for any of them. He also stopped the hottest player in the NHL Mika Zibanejad.’

Sabres top Rangers 3-2 in shootout

Sabres welcome fans back in the stands at the KeyBank Center

Could a fresh approach for the Sabres sell more tickets?
‘”This has to be a team effort, so we’re really pushing that when we speak together as a team that everybody is needed, or this isn’t going to work,” Granato said. “Within a game, there’s a range of who’s on any given night, and my belief is you have to read that as a coach… Some guy may be feeling a little better and he’s more effective.”‘
Sabres top Rangers in shootout, get second win in three games after skid
‘”We were disappointed with some things the other day,” Buffalo coach Don Granato said. “Our internal demand, our personal standard, we didn’t hit the other day for whatever reason. We spoke of it after the game, and I believe the guys took that to heart and elevated and fought through a lot in this game. There were emotions and things that could be very emotional within the context of the game, and we battled right through it, stayed right on it, and we were rewarded for it.”‘
