Maybe if Skinner spent a little less time on making between two stalls and a little more time taking hockey seriously he'd probly still stink

Since the trade, Casey is 4G 3A in 11 GP, +3. Not much press on him to share since the trade, but Aves 8-3 in last 11 GP. Seems he’s fitting in nicely.
Thats great man can you tell me how MacKinnon is doing too

So you don't think there are players in the NHL who have high hockey IQ, but not elite skills?
He's 18. Nobody can say how good this guy will be, but I think he's shown enough to not be considered a bust.
He's probably closer to Derek Roy than Girgensons. He's not going to be as physical as Girgensons, and won't be a 4th liner. At the same time, he's probably smarter than Roy.
How can this be quantified, already?

Jokiharju. I'm absolutely befuddled he's still on the roster and has been for years

His hockey IQ is off the charts. He doesn't seem to have an elite shot, though, or elite speed. Not sure about his puck possession skills because he does tend to get knocked off the puck a lot.
One criticism is that he doesn't always move his feet while backchecking, which causes him to reach, which results in penalties. You would think that Granato and staff would have addressed this during the season.
Right now he is often outmatched physically, but his skills should continue to emerge as he gets stronger.
At this point he seems like a puck mover/playmaker. He'll score by being in the right place at the right time. He also seems to have leadership ability. Hopefully he doesn't have that beaten out of him by the team's overall lack of success.
See I dont understand this post. The first sentence makes sense in supporting Benson as a soon to be "good" player. The rest of the post, however, says the exact opposite. I honed in on the bold to support what I just said

This is far more likely

He won't be any good. I see some odd bias for this guy and I think its because the Sabres are historically bad and some fans will look for a silver lining in anything Sabres related.
If he's so good now, trade him. Why do the Sabres need another 5'9 guy who is "skilled"? I think we have too many of "those" guys. He fits the track record of guys the Sabres ALWAYS pick. Pass
I dont see him being anymore than a 20 goal 40 point kinda guy. He doesn't hit or fight or bring anything else but some so called hockey "IQ". Kinda amazed to see people jump on his bandwagon THAT fast, honestly. To each their own.
To add, he definitely won't get any better if Granato remains coach, what a joke that guy is.
Anyway, just my opinion. I dont dislike him as a player, I just don't see him the way others do.

Pulling UPL was fine but the Sabres unquestionably left him out to dry on ALL of his goals against
I read some of the earlier comments and I flat out disagree that UPL "stinks" again

I know this may not be what everyone else wants to hear but Girgensons is a serviceable player but has more offensive game than he gets to show when on 4th line. He hasn’t looked out of place with Tuch and Tage at all.
He can sign again for a year if he is interested, imo. But let him play with more skill. He can play.
He's relentless. Great quality to have

It's tough to pick with this team. They all seem to have their maturity issues
And the guys who don't, stink
Girgensons as captain would be absurd at best
UPL for captain

No thanks; do you have any idea what he'd do with ready access to Ted's, Seneca Texas Hosts, and Zweigles?
(I know it's a low-blow, I don't care)
Phil Kessel would still skate circles around you if he was 800 pounds

Dahlin/Dahlin.
This is also how I felt before the start of the season.
I’m less enthused about the choice now than I was in October.
There may be too much Vanek in him. Something about the # 26?
Vanek was a solid hockey player. Not sure what you're getting at

Mitts?
Probably Girgensons, given how much KA and TP love the guy, because we need a captain who know nothing but losing at the NHL level.
There is currently nobody on the Sabres who goes by the name "Mitts"

A contrarian opinion
Not a terrible game for the Sabres so far after giving up a goal 29 seconds in
Some penalty calls were ehhh
UPL playing well
And
Stop hitting the post. Could be 3-2
Sabres in good shape still
LETS GO AGAIN

Crosby a legend. Weren't the Sabres close to getting him through the lottery? As in they did have high chances that year?
It would have been nice to get a generational forward with our number 1 picks in any of these past years. Sigh
