Taylor Hall vibes all around lol.
So he'll sign with the Sabres, score about 18 points in 40 games and be traded for a JAG forward and a 2nd round pick in February?

As long as this man is in a position of power this cannot be viewed as a serious hockey organization.
He sealed his own fate when he whined about palm trees and taxes. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. "Good players don't want to play in Western NY so why even pursue them?" I think there's also some shell shock from the Taylor Hall debacle. That was the one big FA he was allowed to sign and he was garbage before being traded for detritus during the same season.
This franchise is going nowhere as long as a jellyfish like KA is making these decisions. We need somebody with vision, fortitude, and most importantly BALLS to do the job.

Are they better? I haven't seen anything tangible that makes me feel they are.

Now we will see who the real McLeod is.
He was always an all-out effort guy in EDM. His numbers were lower because he wasn't asked to do as much offensively. I suspect last season set a reasonable expectation going forward and if he's surrounded correctly, 45-55 points is what he'll provide.

I like this move. McLeod is a very good 3C, fast as hell, reasonably skilled, and good on the PK. Needed to happen, glad we get to keep him.

The annual Sabres fan exercise - day 1 of free agency. Run downstairs hoping to open some cool new toys from under the tree, open up a box of socks, some underwear, and an ugly wool sweater from Aunt Tilly.

Not that I was expecting much of anything, but *fart noise*
Lyon is...meh. I'm sure he'll be fine like Anderson & Reimer before him.
I'm glad they re-upped MacLeod. He's a good, speedy two-way 3C. If he can contribute 45-50 points, that'd be great.
Danforth is probably a 4th line upgrade on Lafferty who was useless.
Letting JBD walk after he played reasonably well is ***** dumb, but not surprising for KA.
Don't see anything that makes us much better.
Still a lot of runway until the season starts, so I suppose more moves could be coming but nothing to be overly optimistic about today.

JAG goalie du jour. We need one every year. Not exciting, but if he can be Craig Anderson or Reimer, fine.

Who's that guy that played a handful of games for the Caps last season? Him. That guy.

Why is Bryson still in this organization?

If they spend to the cap I'll eat my hat.

I like the guys they got. Whether or not it’s equal value is irrelevant to me. The team needed a culture change. Getting bad players (Dylan Cozens) or offense only allergic to defense players (Peterka) off the roster in exchange for engaged, physical players is a win in my book.
If JJP didn't want to be here, then yeah, get rid of him. I don't have a problem with either player that came back, just feels like it should've been more. But it's Adams, so I guess we should just be happy he didn't screw up worse.

Two "decent" players but do not see how this makes us better. Guess I'll wait to see what else happens this summer to get a total picture to judge. Initial reaction is... underwhelmed.

Vancouver is a dumpster fire.

Going home for a season. That's a good move for Edmonton to free up (unless retention in play) $5M for defense/goaltending.
For Vancouver, they get muscle, and maybe a longer-term hometown discount extension to wind out his career as a 3/4W. There are worse grinders out there.
VAN is taking on the full salary.

Adams loves his prospects. He's making the pick.

Dahlin, Tage, Tuch. That's...about it.
I'm all outta hope. This is a poorly constructed roster and (mostly) the same group isn't going to suddenly become a good hockey team at this point. They are what they are. The only path I see to improvement is that Jarmo has more say in the roster construction and HE is at the head of some moves this summer. There is talent here, has been for a couple of years; we need to move out some of the redundant pieces and get some good veteran players in here that better complement our current core. Maybe JJP is the first piece to start that process, but it sucks losing a young wing who appears to be on track to becoming a near ppg player.

Draisaitl is something else, man. I'd take him over Auston Matthews without a moment's hesitation.

Unless any draft pick received is intended to be part of a package to add good, NHL-ready players, ***** all the way off.

Kevyn Adams Press Scrum, July 2, 2025

One of my HUGE problems with Adams is he seems to feel that the Sabres are an unattractive destinations for players, and they probably are, but the GM should NOT feel that way. I feel like that governs (or limits) what he's willing to try to do. He seems to accept that it's very hard to lure people to Buffalo because the org is viewed as a joke (partially because of him) so he doesn't really try to make any splashy moves. We need somebody who says "***** that" and is willing to, and has the BALLS to go after those kind of players. Adams ain't that guy.
