  1. Well his skating has improved but his acceleration is still problematic and he is a guy who wonder how high his hockey IQ is. For me Grigorenko is an enigma that really needs time to learn in the AHL before we can properly judge him. If you think about his play in Buffalo last year, it was better.

IMO, his Hockey IQ/sense is excellent. Even in limited NHL minutes, it was pretty evident to my eye. Getting stronger, demonstrating a greater willingness to battle, and improving his skating have been the major areas where he needs to show improvement. He certainly showed improvement in Rochester last season, but let's see how far he's progressed in these areas in the coming camp/season. Looking forward to his continued development.

I'll be a blogging fly on the wall in office of agent Steve Bartlett as NHL free agency begins at noon. A unique perspective of the process.

I'll tweet a blog link as we get closer to noon. UFAs of local interest represented by Steve Bartlett: Gionta brothers and Thomas Vanek.

Please realize that while I will have fly-on-the-wall access, I'm there as a courtesy. This won't be who offered what play-by-play (more)...

(Cont.)... This will be a behind-the-scenes blog of the UFA process, starting with the first call from whatever GM at noon.

    Pretty darn cool!

  3. New era is at hand in Buffalo. A GM who wants to shape a team of young guns into achievers. The days of giving lip service to winning and not gutting it out on the ice are over. If you don't want to be a part of the solution, don't let the door hit you in the rear. Erhoff wanted out but he had a contract no one

wanted to assume. Was he an asset? Yes. Could his trade brought in another player of picks? Yes. Was it doable? No. Tough decision had to be made and Murray was up to the task. After the bleak end of the Regier regime this is a bright dawning of a new day and I like it.

  5. I'm going to stand by what I said and opine that there really isn't any pressing issues with this forum. Sure there are times when threads get off-topic, on the rare occasion a dispute might pop up. But overall it all adds to the entertainment factor yet doesn't overwhelm the place. I think if we all start commenting to those that don't follow these unwritten rules it will just become more of a distraction. I like the tweets because I don't follow everybody related to hockey. I like the occasional off-topic posts, it can lighten the mod a little. With the risk of sounding repetitive I say we just let it be. If it ain't broke.......

Nothing wrong with a collective examination toward making things better here.
