  1. hearing and reading where KA is pushing to get UPL signed...many question what kind of contract to give, especially after his recent contracts were and are big question marks now (see Dylan Cozens or Mule).

Any thoughts on what the numbers should look like? Goalies are a strange bunch; can look awful, then real good, then regress again, which in UPL's case means that he may return to his "old self" next season, which would spell doom if given a big new contract.

  2. I predicted this last week...I think the firing and hiring was already decided weeks ago by TP. They desperately need to put people in the seats and Lindy is very popular and I love his intensity, something this team has lacked for years. If they play with half the passion and heart that Lindy played with, then coached with, they will be significantly better. Figure this is a two year plan...if they do not make the playoffs in those two years both Lindy and KA are gone

  3. Have to wonder about Colorado...they were beat 7-0 by the jets in their 2nd last game of regular season and then had a 3-0 lead on Vegas to lose 4-3...now they score 6 but allow7? Not exactly the greatest defensive system.

Washington look so slow and just not very good...pretty sure the Sabres would put on a better show then that.

  4. Clearly Leafs look overwhelmed...their coach is kinda a Granato clone...the team is horrible defenseively. Soon as they are knocked out they wil fire the coach and Sabres need to move fast to get their man before the Leafs are looking and take a coach we may want.

Also wonder about Colorado after they were absolutely destroyed by the Peg 7-0 at home in their 2nd last game of the season...

  5. We must trade from our strength to address our weakness...trade  Byram if the right trade for a center comes along, one with grit and good at faceoffs. Kinda silly mind you when we had Mitts. Still do not like this trade. Good teams are built around strong centers and we have to greatly improve there. Dylan may be better on wing and Tage is no face-off demon.

As for Byram and his sudden struggles, I worry he may not be as good as many think. Time will tell but we really do not need more young defensemen.

  6. No difference then anything else these days after COVID...rich are getting a lot richer and the rest of us are getting hammered by out-of-control inflation put in motion when COVID was a thing and big companies saw it as a chance to jack up everything. Since then everything has skyrocketed and guys like TP have seen their company's value rise significantly. I mean Arizona owner is getting a bundle for his crappy hockey team...clearly Bills and Sabres are worth billions and that goes up every day. Not convinced TP is in any hurry to sell anything

  7. Man there is some good and very interesting matchups. Colorado will have their hands full with The Peg, who beat the Avs 7-0 last week in Colorado. Playoff hockey is so darn good, and I have some greta memories of even our beloved Sabres (like Briere's many overtime goals and that shorty by Pomminstein versus Ottawa was the best in OT)...

On another note, anybody think the Leafs will win a series? Their coach is a Granato clone in many ways, and the Leafs defense is pretty bad. Hate the Bruins too but imagine they will win that series.

  8. Best to wait and see what the new coach wants...hopefully the new coach will be one who can get the best out of his players and maybe help guys like Krebs find his game. Or, converesly, the new coach may tell KA which need to go. Krebs value is so low that it really does not matter either way. Far more important issues to be addressed for sure, Having saifd that, Vegas drafted him I believe, and they sure seem to know what they are doing, so maybe with some work from a new coach he can become a valuable asset moving forward.

  9. Washington Philly game tonight should be fun and dirty...can't wait. Really want Pittsburg ahead of either of these teams but anything but Detroit and their old vets...so tired of hearing "oh we should have signed Kane" this past season.

  10. All of us experts (haha) can clearly see what this team lacks (good coaching, veteran leadership), yet KA can't see this? That seems very strange... talent is there so please Mr. Adams do something and please do not just bring this same lineup back and tell us it is a learning thing and that they are young. We know...

You would think people would've learned their lesson about running players out of town on a rail only to see it blow up in our faces in the most horrible and humiliating fashion possible (like that guy who scored the winning goal) but then you see the scorching hot takes on Cozens and the answer is clearly: Nope.

The negativity on this board towards players is a big thing here. I agree we keep running players out of town only to see them do well elsewhere. I get that many are tired of hearing it, but the fact is this team is young (the youngest in the league in fact). Signing a bunch of veteran free agents like Detroit is not the answer. They are no better off out of playoffs and Stevie Y is suppose to be a genius. And no one can tel me that any of the Islanders, Pittsburg, Caps, Flyers or Wings have a more talented lineup then the Sabres. They do, however, have experienced coaching and some good veteran leadership (especially Pittburg).

  12. Again I did not like this trade...MItts was the perfect 2nd center and every good team is built around strong centers. Skinner scores at a pace that this team desperately needs, and to do what they are doing with him now and basically misuse him is just another in the long line of mistakes this organization continues to make year after year. Heck, if we had kept the players we had over say the last eight years, we'd no doubt be in the playoffs with LIndy still coaching of course.

  13. Time and again many are overlooking the lack of real veteran leadership on the team. Take Pittsburg: Cindy is singlehandling lifting that team. They have very little talent overall and use many older rejects but he has got that team playing well every night, win or lose. The Sabres are in fact young and lack that leadership. That is on KA for not getting a couple of good vet leader-types.

I also think that the lack of real centers is hurting the team. I did not like the Mitts trade as he was a perfect 2nd center. I always thought (and still do) that good teams are built around two solid centers. Heck I thought what exGMTM did with Eichel/O'Reilly and adding power forward like Kane was on the right track. Every team that is at the top of the standings has those strong leader-type centers. Those leaders would have this team ready to go evey night. Guys like Crosby do not take a night off. Or even a shift. That is leadership...something coaches cannot put on a team. Torts is the ultimate motivater apparently judging by those who laud him and go on about him. He eventaully loses the room as he asks to much often. Leadership is pushing players to be the best they can be at whatever they are good at.  Simply asking for effort every shift, every game. That, by itself, would push the Sabres to new heights I believe. And have them ready at the start of every game.

Yes, spot on.  Power, then Cozens, could both up end being premature evaluations by Adams that were wrong. But they could work out too.  It will be interesting to see who else gets paid.

agreed...and we all know that premature anything can never turn out good...

  15. Yes that garbage went out of the league years ago. Seen Reeves, another guy who should not be in the league, hitting Hedman which begs the question...Hedman is not overly physcial and certainly does not fight or even hit that much yet he is huge and plays very well. On this board lots criticize our defense for being small or not hitting yet Hedman and Tampa get by quite fine without him being all that aggressive. Seems to me that both Hedman and Tampa have won some nice hardware recently no? MInd you Tampa are pretty dirty at times.

And little Bryson is playing very well this year so with the good young prospects we have on defense maybe trade a d-man for a physcial forward who can actually play too...oh and  I would like Boone Jenner too please

It was pretty funny, but I found myself wondering if this was Buffalo, if we were in New Jersey's spot and Rempe had run idk say Benson and Peterka for argument's sake and then he'd taunted us like he taunted New Jersey's bench what would we have done? Sadly, I think the answer is nothing.

The first fight was Vesey Lazar, ex-Sabres.

Big brawl...yawn. Of course there is no one to challenge Rempke on the Sabres. And to be honest I really do not care. I would have liked us to keep Marcus or get someone to fill that role when needed for sure however.
