This thread is primarily for the Buffalo diaspora, or possibly some of the younger people who missed out on things because they weren't aware yet.  What are things associated with Buffalo that you missed out on?  I'm thinking of Buffalo things/traditions that

I grew up in Cheektowaga, and left for college in 1980.  I came home the first two summers but haven't lived there since.  So there are a lot of things I missed out on.

    • The general revitalization of Buffalo
    • Metro Rail
    • Canalside (I've spent an afternoon or two there, but as a tourist)
    • KeyBank Center (never been to a game there!)
    • Buffalo Bandits
    • Original Pizza Logs
    • Paula's Donu
    • Sponge candy
    • Chiavetta's BBQ Chicken

I'm sure there are others (and I reserve the right to add to the list), but what about the rest of you?  What are Buffalo things that weren't yet things when you left Buffalo, things you missed out on?

You’re no tourist my friend. Living somewhere else does not take Buffalo out of you.

Gilbert Perrault, Rick Martin, Lindy Ruff.....know Patrick Kaleta and Patrick Kane very well (many stories - but that is for another time)

Lived on same street with several Buffalo Bills players and coaches, Antoine Smith - great guy would play catch in the street with my kids.      Fred Graves (Bills receivers coach in Wade Phillips era - yep met Wade too). Graves used to host a street party/BBQ got to meet Eric Moulds (physical specimen) and Peerless Price (nice guy)

Sat next to Jim Harbaugh waiting for a plane in San Diego (nice guy)

Josh Allen lives a block away,  saw him this past Sunday morning

    However....by far....the most famous athlete.....Joe Montana

I managed to get tickets for 2005 USC v Notre Dame famously known as the "Bush Push" game where Matt Leinart pushed Reggie Bush across the goal line with 3 seconds to go for the win. Actually, it was tickets to the game, the coaches luncheon and the pep rally on Friday night, also managed to get into the Notre Dame Hockey game on Friday evening as well. Anyway, My brother and I were checking into the Inn at St Mary's across the street from the campus and as we turned away from the front desk Joe Montana was walking down the stairway from the mezzanine. As God as my witness, he walked right up to us, introduced himself (like we didn't know who he was 😆), shook our hands and struck up a conversation for a few minutes and wished us a good evening and a great weekend. Well, I don't think we wiped the look of astonishment from our faces the whole weekend. What an amazing guy!.... it gets better... on Friday at the coaches luncheon the luminary that sat at our table was none other than Jerry Tarkanian "Tark the Shark" (he was freaking hilarious) and Chris Berman came by to say hello to our table . The next morning the breakfast buffet at the Inn included helping Regis Philbin work the waffle maker so he could get back to his table next to us with his friends Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas. I've lived 55+ years and have never had a weekend like that and probably never will again.

I have a hard time seeing Phil Donahue, Marlow Thomas and Regis Philbin at a hotel buffet They have insane money. If  I had that kind of money, if I stayed at a hotel, it certainly wouldn’t have a buffet. just saying.

He needs 2 inches and 35 pounds to be Adam Mair sized.  Mair was selected 84OA, Kozak was 193.

Since I have not seen Kozak play yet I will defer to your judgement.  Mair was definitely a notch above Ellis.  If Kozak can win face-offs and  be strong on the PK he has some hope.

I loved Adam Mair. I thought he was one of the finest Sabres ever. Played every shift 100%.

It’s interesting to me that Wilson, Compher and Hanifan are names that I keep hearing being mentioned in connection with Buffalo. It might not end up being the actual player, but everyone seems to be targeting three skill sets; 1) defensive first center with some skill, 2) rugged winger with skill, 3) top 4 defenseman.

Just curious, where have you heard or read that Compher, Wilson, Hanifan are being considered for Buffalo?

Jordan Greenway's end of season interview.

After watching his end of season presser,I’m bringing Kyle back on a one year contract.  And I’d pay him more than vet minimum if he wants. I bet he’s older and slower. Heck, watch KO’s presser, he essentially admits it. But his leadership outweighs it all.

here's the issue, without them you just eliminated about half the grit from the entire team.

Maybe 3/4 of the grit. And that ain’t saying much. Don’t get me wrong, love the direction they are headed in. Sign me a veteran goalie, d man, and some grit. We’ll be good to go.
