  1. I have to agree with hopelesly - I think NESN was hyping Thomas' saves, which weren't that tough; and I think the Sabres put in a piss-poor effort on the SO.

And Exiled, I really don't think I know what you're talking about. I think that the SO is all about exploiting mismatches, exposing & attacking weaknesses, and being creative and unpredictable, so I have a big problem with all three of them going in with at the same slow speed, with the same weak, unoriginal dekes and same poor results.

Going three the same way is fine if you score on one or two of them. Going the same way all three times and all three having crappy results is a waste of time and effort, regardless of whether going the same way in a future shootout gets them a goal (the idea of them trying to set up future SO goals with three crappy efforts is one I can't even fathom.) For those results we could have sent Peters, Mair & Spacek out there...

I think the unpredictable part at this level is the most important... And more of being "on"... Obviously, they were off... I like the tactic of going all three times the same way... The execution just didn't work out that way... Gives the illusion of a weak effort... Not seeing it, I can't judge... Even if I did, I would feel the same way...

Disagree if you will... IMO, I think this team relies on "smoke and mirrors" more than anybody wants to accept... And I think that is a good thing with all the talent they have...

  2. I really hope that the team was trying to exploit a weak spot of Thomas' in the shootout. Seems that way since all 3 took almost the exact same shot. If not, than it was a pretty disappointing effort by all 3 in the shootout.

For those of us who had NESN, is it me or did they try to make Thomas' saves in the shootout sound a lot more spectacular than they really were.

Don't get me wrong... I see where you are coming from... IMO, shootouts are more about "trends" and exploiting a goalie... Going three the same way doesn't bother me and wasn't disappointing if it wasn't a weak spot... See where I am coming from?

Say it goes to a SO on Wed? What to you think Thomas will think?... BFLO would be foolish not to mix in the same shot again somewhere... I know a lot will disagree.

Look at TV's blast against Huet in that shootout... WHo would have thunk?

I think SO's at this level are all about being as random as you can... But, that is just my belief... Adn that is what makes BFLO so good in them... Sure it didn't work today... But, that is life...

It is all part of the plan!

  3. One other thing...Did the referees forget that they are supposed to be calling all infractions? The game reminded of how things were pre-lockout. :wallbash: :wallbash:

Remember this post everyone! Mark it down! :D :D

This whole season reminds me more of the pre-lockout rules...

My theory is that they will call it tighter in the playoffs! Which will be good for the Sabres!

By doing this, you don't create 6 months of controversy prior to the start of the playoffs...

Seems it is the way the NHL works... They come up with rules, enforce them in tight ways... The after the outrage, relax them... Only to tweek them some more...

    Just my .02 cents!

  4. Again... Who the eff was the NHL's "computer man" and scorer today?

    WTF? Must be a ChowderHead?

    In the recap:

The Sabres dropped to a league-best 17-5-1 on the road. ...

Weren't they 17-4-1 before today... Today's SO loss would make them 17-4-2...

Obviuosly, after wacthing the cluster eff of stats being imput during the 1st... It has to be the same guy writing this... Obviously, doesn't know how the game is run and how it is scored in the standings????

    <_<

Anybody know where I can find Henrik Tallinder's time table back for the "high ankle sprain?"

  5. Please don't say anything that will attract some of the retard rodeo regulars...

    Sorry!

I am just slap happy today! Thank God for Miller's save... And getting one point is team's consolation when playing off their mark!

    More Rodeo fodder: :nana:

I think some of the Blackhawks scoring woes (3 games ago) rubbed off on the Sabs!

I feel guilty and need a exorcism of some sort...

Any suggestions? Should I burn my son's 'Hawks hat, or just hide it?

    :D :bag:

  6. Hang me for scorboard watching... But, BFLO seems to still be cruising in the standings... The Habs really slide... Yes... Ottawa is doing great... But, BFLO still (today) has a game in hand with 12 up!

The thing is Toronto... Now down 20!... And tied with BOS... And BOS has 3 games in hand!

Look at it in baseball terms and games behind... Not points... And there really is NO STANDINGS adversity for BFLo just yet... Still some 6 games ahead... And a sure up swing? Where else can they go? Down?.... Shhhhhh... Let's not think that! :D

When does HT come back? Wed's game will be three weeks!

And for all you TSW guys... Has BFLO "regressed to the mean?".... :nana: :nana:

  7. If it was the same three moves and shots that BFLO did in the SO... I LIKE THAT STYLE... Even know it didn't work... It really gets goaltenders to guess next time around...

    Argue if you like...

I always wondered... Does the SO goals go against the goalie's GAA? Where to the goals in SO's go stat wise? Some sort of purgatory?

  8. Fluke... Well Miller made good on the sure one!

Seems they lifted out of the 1st period funk and now closed the gap in shots to 23-34!

Good job guys! Too bad you couldn't pick up one in regulation...

At least 1 point is a good step then losing three in a row! And on the road (which means nothing to this team)

    :D

  9. By my calcs, BFLO is playing a pretty good 3rd... Outshooting the B's 10-7 or so...

WE REALLY NEED A PP AND A GOAL NOW! THAT WOULD BUILD CONFIDENCE?

The first two BOS goals... Were any "soft?"

If so... I can logically swap that one for the one you guys sad was spectacular...

  10. Still 2-2? I can't seem to get either feed to work here

I can't either... Between this site and everything else being slow... It is still 2-2... I think there is another 7 mins or so left in the 2nd intermission?...

At least the stats for the 2nd were on... I don't know what ChowderHead was running them in the 1st... Obviously not a hockey fan?

BFLO is being outshot in the game 19-26... 8-19 in the first and seemed to turn it around in the 2nd...11-7 with the first 5 minutes of the second outshooting the B's 5-0... Too bad they didn't get one...

Miller appears to have made the save of the year?

  11. Who the heck is the official scorekeeper keeping track of the game? Stats have been off almost the whole period... With it saying END of 1 since about quarter after the hour... I thought it was the fastest period ever played...

Then the Bruin score popped up as 00:01, when it was 2-1 BFLO... I said WTF? Did I miss something?... Since been changed to 19:59...

Again, WTF? Are they training a new guy? What? Do the regular scrores have to work today? Or computer glitch?

    I am all FUBAR'ed!

    :(

  12. When is Henrik due back in the line-up? :(

The Sabres are vexing to no ends... Amazing what the great start did...

Even after today... Sure Ottawa inches close but is still (11) points beyond... The Habs are still (10) off... And the Leafs are (19) off still... We have even have a couple games in hand over Ottawa and one over the Loafs... So the divison is still well below.

Seems when we tank... The divison has bad outings? Well Ottawa played the Habs... Somebody had to win... :D

In the Conference things are tighter... Yet, NJ and ATL are (7) off with ATL having played two more games!

I still like to win the overall... Yet... A "cat-bird" seed can be 2 and 3 also... Hope they don't fall though...

Still NOT bad... Even know things look ugly, very ugly... Actually FUGLY at times for the Sabres... That strong start seems to be going far in the war of attrition to out pace some teams...

And yes... I scoreboard watch... The Ducks had issues with the Avs at home, losing 3-2...

The Pred seem to be on a tear and have tied the Sabres with an identical record and points!.... And played the same number of games...

Maybe the Sabres need teams breathing down their neck to get it going again?

  13. So was anyone able to hear the "Let's Go Buffalo!" chants? Our group was 50 strong, and there were plenty of other Sabre fans around the building joining in the chant. Almost felt bad for the Hawk season ticket holders who probably have to put up with this on a nightly basis, but then again they invested in Hawk season tickets

Yes... Totally!... I think you guys were just above us in section 331 right?

What is the fixation with the Red Wings... After the BFLO sux chants didn't take off (proably figured that there were more Slug fans in the stadium?) the homies resorted to Detroit sux chants...  Actally, Detroit is rather good and has won something since 1961... I guess pure jealousy? Detroit games in Chicago are the only ones that sellout and get televised on local TV... <_<

They should be chanting Bill Wirtz sux!... But, then they are so enamored by the opening montage with Mikita, Glenn Hall, Esposito, and Hull!!

  14. i did not have time to read the previous 5 pages of posts but i just wanted to comment on two things from the game last night (and I only got to see the 3rd period):

    - who wears #2 for chicago? he was a D-man and he was flying out there. everytime he got the puck he turned it on. i noticed him all 3rd period

    - more importantly...icebunnies. after seeing the Isles and now the Blackhawks, i think we need them.

    Duncan Keith wears #2.

He is also the one who crosschecked Drury and could have killed our season!

With out Chris... Seemed like we were losing alot of faceoffs?

  15. This from Knightrider's find of the 'Hawks board:

"Are you out of town? Unless you make it to the UC, you won't have to worry about watching it."

Such a storied franchise like the Blackhawks would do that to their fans in a HUGE market.

Bill Wirtz is truly an ass...

I think it will be a game... I NEVER witnessed a Sabre game in person that was a SABRE blowout! :D

  16. DirecTV channel 766, 8PM Eastern.

The only problem is that it will be the TSN feed, not MSG. It could be worse; it could be the Chicago feed.

Even worse because there MAY NOT be a Chicago feed... The 'Hawks don't put all the home games on Cable? I think just the away games go to Fox Sports Network...

For years the 'Hawks never had a cable contract... It is owner Bill Wirtz's way!

Even if I wasn't going to the game tonight... I am almost positive that even in this area I could NOT find it EVEN on cable???

That is one reason why many aren't passionate about hockey here anymore...

  17. Ruff said it is a sprained ankle for tallinder

Thank God!... I would have been crapping a brick all night if he said "lower body injury"...

Ya... A sprain is bad... What is the usaul "out" time?... A week or two if a "bad" sprain...?

I got a really stiff boot that this beginner skater has... Can I donate it to him in time for the Leafs' game? :D

  18. Yes, I remember the Mogilney incident. He screamed his head off when it happened. If Hasek had played in that series we would have won

That is what I am thinking BS... You break anything and you are hollering in pain...

Lets all keep positive... When do they come out with the injury update.

Rest of the teams gotta step up?

At what minute in the contest did HT go down... If it was early... I am not to concerned with the loss... Shows you how much he means to this team... If it was late in the contest, I am a little more concerned... Again, with special teams and all the HT non MVP naysayers... I think this game says alot!
