You serious? The game isn't close to being over, some bad penalties were called, but there is still a lot of time left.
The game isn't close to being over time-wise, but I think most of us are frustrated with the first period because it was a microcosm of the way the Sabres have been playing lately: as if skating hard for five to ten minutes is enough to keep the team on top. It's getting to the point where even seeing Max turn it up down the right wing isn't enough to make me sit on the edge of my seat because I'm sitting too far back and covering my eyes.
Gah! Frustration! Lindy has to get these guys going, light a fire under their a$$es, change up lines, something. It's not just that teams are adjusting to them, the team just isn't putting forth the same amount of effort. Where'd my Sabres of October and November go?

The words "Kotalik" and "fourth line" in the same sentence sound nice.
Almost as nice as "Kotalik" and "healthy scratch" :D
Were we just bashing Kotalik? Ha! Doesn't change my opinion much, but what a shot!

If he's angry about not playing more, he needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. He's done nothing in his last 6-7 starts to warrant more ice time in any way.
Absolutely agreed. I remember right as Miller was out for a few games one of the analysts said something about him getting restless.
Anyway, one other point: I can't wait to see MacArthur in action (and Peters not). I've never seen the kid before and hope he's as good and crafty as his AHL stats would suggest. Here's hoping Lindy puts him on a line with Drury and Gaustad. Maybe Kotalik can use his body and be somewhat useful (if he's not going to score) on the fourth line with Novotny and Mair? Just a thought.

I'm not disagreeing - in any big game, I always want to see no.30 in there and no.43 right where he belongs - at the end of the bench. I only raised the thought of Marty starting since Ryan has had so many games in a row, and Marty has historically played well against the Habs - career record is 12-5-0, with a 1.93 GAA and .931 SV PCT against Montreal...
As for the game, I see a 3-1 Buffalo win, where they skate with Montreal most of the night instead of making the Habs try to keep up with them...
I agree that Miller probably needs a break, although the December schedule isn't overly taxing. I was thinking the game against Florida would've been a good game for Marty to start, but obviously Lindy thought otherwise. Marty was angry earlier in the season for not playing much, so I'm wondering how he's feeling now...

I'm with PA. I expect the Sabres to get right back up in the 4.6 GPG area. Miller may have started 13 (I think?) consecutive games, but Montreal is only seven points behind Buffalo in the standings. And the way Huet's been playing lately against the Sabres, we can't have any of Marty's soft ones trickling over the goal line.

YO STAFFORD!
Still skeptical, but not so fast...

RJ cracks me up. :D

Does nobody drink the beer? He carries that same warm sixer everywhere.
That's exactly my point, too. It almost makes it look like he's carrying the same six-pack to each party because nobody at the previous parties wanted it.

Damn baby, is it Earl? :D :D
Cat got your tongue? Earl got your tongue?

This is one entertaining period, to say the least.

Fantastic prediction, Corp!

Oh, RJ. "Al" Kotalik. What a guy.

Not a big fan of the ridiculously off-center main camera. Does everything look a little yellowish on that camera or is it just my TV?

Damn...wanted Miller to get a SO. Oh well, bounces happen (just ask the Tropical Depressions; they get them all the time).
All in all, a very good effort by the Sabes. Probably one of their best overall games on the year. Defense was solid, goals were timely and Miller was fantastic.
Can't wait till Thursday now!

Sabres assist on that Montreal goal.
Assist? Give 'em a goal on that one. :o

The camera loves you, Marty. ;-)

What a game for Vanek.
Corollary to previous post: Fantastic game for Vanek.
-
The Sabres defense has been subpar at best tonight, but to look at the silver lining, at least all three Buffalo goals were skill shots, not lucky bounces. I know bounces are a part of hockey, but how many will the Tropical Depressions get already?

My apologies, SW, you're right. There's no way he was actually tripped on that play. At least Dmitri made my pain go away.
