Absolutely. If both of those guys play to the ceiling of what they are, nobody will want to play against them. you'll either end up with a minus one or a broken orbital bone.
Nice!

I just want to say thanks to all the guys that replied about the waiver rules and how they affect the Sabres players.
Please feel free to explain other roster rules as they come up.
I'm sure I'm not the only member/lurker/guest that appreciates this info!!!!!

Did you watch the Sobotka interview in the other thread? Even though he shoots left, he apparently considers himself a right wing.
Well that changes a lot. Definitely balances the winger positions much better.
That info opens all kind of line options. Can't wait to see how it fleshes out.

I wouldn't define Reinhart as steady. He was on vacation for the 1st half of last season. Put one of the heady, grizzled vets on his right wing.
I guess I would ask who that RW'er is. It seems to me that the RW slots are the hardest to evaluate and line out.
Reinhart, Okposo, Pominville, Thompson, Baptiste, Bailey?
I don't think Okposo had a steady season last year either.

Another point regarding Botteril's makeover, it absolutely, 100% hinges on Mittlestadt being ready for a significant role on the team at center ice. If Casey falters, we'll have one scoring line. That's a pretty substantial bet. If he works out this season, the moves should be enough to get us significant improvement. If Casey can't make it happen this season, losing ROR is going to be extremely painful.
It's not a Buffalo thing. I'm sure every fanbase does it. Other than that, I agree with you generally here.
Which is why I think he should be paired with Reinhart on his right and Sheary on his left. Both of them are steady and can help bring him around.
Jack and Skinner will have to learn to play nice together and put the next best RW with them that can fit in.

Sweet. I hope they're accurate. That alone makes this a great deal because even if Skinner is a total disappointment we should be able to move him at the TDL for close to what we paid for him if not more.
Good move, Pugsley.
Good point. To me it shows he may have a new contract in mind vs. taking a chance to get moved to a team he doesn't want to play for.

I'm interested in knowing the status of his NMC as well. It should be completely gone at this point. I hope Pugsley didn't promise to keep it in place. Skinner may very well have made that a condition in order to agree to waive it in the first place.
Spotrac shows his NMC has been removed.

There's a disconnect in my mind: The Canes fans say Skinner's terrible on defense. When a forward is bad at defense, it's likely because he's lazy, slow, or stupid (i.e., doesn't understand his responsibilities). I'm not hearing any of those to be true about Skinner, so why is he bad at defense?
Jack wasn't great at D but has gotten much better; hopefully they can get Skinner singing in that same choir.
Speculation on my part but with Skinners high takeaway numbers he probably plays himself out of position trying to "steal" pucks.
In the offensive zone it would put him behind and he would be the "last man back".
In the defensive zone he would get behind his guy letting him free to make plays.
Watching some tape this morning he is pretty aggressive (which I like).
Maybe pair him with a more defensive minded RW and why not try him with Jack. Those 2 could be beasts in the O zone.
Like I said, I'm speculating.

I think Sheary starts with jack and skinner with the 2nd line center... maybe it is Reinhart.
I was thinking the opposite but...........who are the RW's in your lines?
-
So if Skinner ends up being Jack's trigger man, who is the opposite winger that has the 2 way game to make that line elite?

It sounded like the narrator from Idiocracy.
Thanks again.

Thanks MillerVaive. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Sabre fans will need sunglasses when that day comes!

It seems to me that there will be enough changes in the lineup to change the locker room to start the season.
Whether it will remain that way after Thanksgiving will depend on wins and losses.

Welcome!!
Someone more knowledgeable will be able to supply the details, but the 2 year bridge has advantages when it comes to Samson's upcoming UFA status.
Paging anyone that can explain all that junk.
Thanks. It really is hard to understand all the "nuances" of the NHL contracts. I've "googled" around but it seems you only get a bit here and a bit
there.

Jack - C
Okposo - A
Risto or Scandella - A
I would think if Risto really wanted it he should get it. If he is not really interested then Scandella would be fine.
With everything that went on with Okposo and how the team "rallied" around him, he should be a "no brainer".

With the uncertainty of which player Sam will become in the coming years, isn't a bridge deal the best way to go?
If that is reasonable, why is 3 year bridge not as advantageous as a 2 as some are saying?
I would think the longer 3 year deal would not cost much more than 2.
It's my 1st post after being a "lurker" some time.

Is Hunwick's injury bad enough to keep him out for the start of the season?
What do they do with him when he is healthy?
