  1. I would bet teams that have a goal taken away lose 80% of those games. Teams who challenge to get a goal added (like the preds game) may be 50-50. I just believe that an offsides is now a game changer and I don't like it. That's not what the rule was for, but that is the unintended consequences.

  2. OK, this is my first go at starting a thread, so here it goes.

I put this in the game day thread but thought it might make a good topic. I think losing the challenge kills a team. I've only watched Sabres game's and of the four challenges made the team that lost the challenge lost the game. All of a sudden offsides and other calls are having more of an effect on games than they should. Does anybody know what the win loss record is for team's that lose the challenge?

  3. We finally got a challenge to go our way last night. I've only watched Sabres game's so the three we lost killed us and we were never able to recover and the preds were the same way. I know that we scored twice on an extended power play but I think losing the challenge is hard to overcome. Does anyone know what the win loss record is for team's that lose the challenge is?

  4. Went to the game last night, man that was bad. Even O'Reilly was quiet along with others mentioned above. There was very little offense last night. This team has lost its way. But I have to keep reminding myself that they are playing a tough part of the schedule now. Also this is a young team that has not played together for long. Better days are ahead.

On a side note, that was the first time to go to a game. Have watched every game for the last few years on sattelite. But to see a game live was a great experience. Met TBJ there as well. We could hear TBJ and those with him even get the "let's go Buffalo" chant going. Was surprised at how many Sabres fans were there. That was great to see as well.

  5. Well we're fixing to leave to get to the game tonight. Been really looking forward to it since they put out the schedule. I think we can win this one with a little Puck luck. They have been able to hang in there in most games. Any given game any given night they could win. Great to have a team worth cheering for. I'll be wearing my Eichel jersy for the first time tonight.

    GO SABRES!!!

  6. .

Well not me, I don't like the idea of going back 30-60 or more second's to make a call. It absolutely take's the crowd out of the game, as well as the players. I think even worse than before the goal was scored. It wouldn't matter if we had won three straight calls. I don't like this rule.

Unfortunately I think this rule is here to stay, so here's an idea, the goal is only taken back if the goal was scored by the player that was offsides or was the primary assist on the goal. That leaves three other players to score. It would eliminate some of the call backs.

OK I need to watch what I'm writing, there are four other players that could score and get the primary assist not three.

  7. It's not just the Sabres..  Talk to Ovi

I like the rule.  It just hasn't worked out for the Sabres yet..  It will and all of you will be turning your swords into plowshares

  8. I've hated this rule from the beginning. Like its been said before, in football it works because the challenge is done immediately after that play (15-20 seconds tops). Hockey is a fast paced game and to add back sometimes minutes to the clock kills the flow. There will always be missed calls. Goals are allowed on much worse infractions that can't be reviewed.

  9. I don't like foligno with Kane and Eichel. Would much rather have Girginsens or Ennis. Foligno doesn't have the skills to compliment Kane and Eichel. Would not be against splitting up Kane and Eichel, at least give it a try. Weber just needs to go. He couldn't make a clearing pass out of the zone for anything. Well not one that connected with one of our players anyway. Turned it over alot. Overall I liked the compete level of this game. Alot of the players that didn't play well in the first game did alot better today.

  10. There are numerous "plays" between whistles in hockey, change of possession, shots on goal, ect. In football you can't go back three plays to make a challenge. I just don't see how to make it work without it messing up the flo. I definitely think teams will challenge even though they know they will lose just to stop the momentum of the other team.

  11. It's why I love hockey, it's fast paced and few stoppages. You can go several minutes without a whistle. To be able to go back that far for a challenge just ruines the pace of the game. Like another poster said " this isn't football or baseball". Just keep the reviews for the actual goal.

  12. I liked Kane O'Reilly Ennis myself.

Comfortable playing that group against anyone.

I'd also put Girgs/Larsson/McGinn out against anyone too.

Eichel Moulson Gionta against favourable matchups is interesting.

And the Des/Foligno combo has rocked the preseason with three different centres and is a superior fourth line.

I think this is a playoff forward group.

    Agreed
