  1. "Generational" players only come along - well, once in a generation - and the only way to get them is to finish dead last. You can't trade for them and you can't draft them otherwise.

Lose to the Coyotes tonight and the Sabres join the elite in a couple of years for at least 10 seasons and multiple Cups after that.

I really don't get how people don't understand this. It's like giving a kid a 5 dollar bill. He could go blow the 5 bucks on some cheap toy and be happy for the moment, or he could put that money in a piggy bank and save for an Xbox that will make him happy for years.
  2. With respect to everyone.. I read this whole thread.

And at the end all I could say was..

I don't think I want to read threads here anymore. It just seems to have devolved into snark after snark after snark. Sigh.

There is no Corsi number for Sabrespace right? Or are we tallying the shots we take in the thread, plus the shots we take in a thread that stem from another thread, plus the shots that completely miss a point?

    Sigh...

Anyway.. I didn't watch much of the game.. but when I did Larsson looked good. His little head fake leading to the two on one and Moulson's goal was nice.

I'm still a new guy here and I mostly do a lot of lurking. But in fairness to the game day threads, it's almost like watching a game with a buddy. Sure a lot of the conversation is about the game, but you tend to discuss other random stuff
  3. I explained it above. Bonuses spread out evenly throughout the contract.

Zero chance any of those big names hit the market. RG3, Foles and Bradford are the only starters with a chance of hitting the market.

If Bradford hits the market it's for the wrong reasons (poor year or another injury). Same with RG3. And Foles. Heck. Same for every good QB. They just don't hit free agency unless there is crazy circumstances.

You're probably right, but I wouldn't say 0 chance. I think out of the group, Eli has the best chance of not re-signing
  4. Suh just signed with the Dolphins and WJag was horribly wrong.

    Here are McCoy's cap hits:

    Cap numbers for LeSean McCoy: $5.5M in 2015, $7.675M in 2016, $8.875M in 2017, $8.95M in 2018, $9.05M in 2019.

    And here is Suh's numbers:

Chris Mortenson: Ndamukong Suh will sign with #Dolphins on Tuesday based off parameters around $114 million and $60 million guaranteed, per sources.

Get ready to pay Dareus in that ballpark.

Which is another reason why I wouldn't mind if Hughes walked. Dareus would be much harder to replace
  5. The "great production" was the overstatement. You don't cut great production on a cheap contract.

Aaron maybin recorded 0 sacks in his 2 years in Buffalo. His first year in NY he recorded 6 sacks and led the team. Like I said, I don't know what happened his 2nd year in NY but I know one his knocks was always his work ethic. I trust rex Ryan will give us a top 5 defense with or without Hughes
  6. Rex got a few sacks out of Maybin...but he also cut him. Let's not overstate what happened. As great as Rex is, he still needs talented players to work with to have an elite defense.

He got production out him without the talents of Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, and marcel dareus. That's not an overstatement, that's a fact. Yes he did cut him and I don't know what the story was there, and then maybin went to Cincinnati to once again prove what a monumental bust he was. So the fact that rex got such great production out of maybin (on very few snaps btw) tells me that Hughes is very replaceable
  7. Been nice knowing ya Hughes

@jchenelly: Jerry Hughes has decided to test the open market. #Bills #NFL #FreeAgency

He's gonna get highly overpaid elsewhere and some team is gonna learn the hard way that he's not the pro-bowler he was this year without our dominant d-line to take pressure off him.

Bingo. Bring in somebody at a fraction of the cost and we won't skip a beat. Rexy got great production from aaron maybin a few years ago so I'm not worried about Hughes leaving one bit
  8. I think this bodes well for the future of both the Bills and the Sabres. You can see it in Whaley and you can see it in Murray. If they know what they want, they go get it, and they don't fall in love with players.

There really is no point on speculating who the starting lineup on the Sabres will be for 2016-17 because I could see almost ANYONE being moved, other than McEichel, if Murray thinks it makes us better.

Big things man. It's an exciting time to be a Buffalo sports fan
  9. ...you have got to be kidding me. This is our answer? Jesus H. Christ.

I absolutely love the aggressiveness. Don't like the choice but I believe he's an upgrade over Kyle Orton. Plus we'll actually have a running game this year
  10. I don't think it really matters. If true they did well to serve him and themselves. If not it doesn't mean much.

Also, I almost posted LaConfora's tweet on the trade demand but the remembered you asked for a credible source.

Yeah LaConfora is about as credible as what I just dropped off in the toilet. I don't think he wanted out at all but I'm sure he's happy with the trade. Now McCoy on the other hand.....
