I believe any special night is not required by the league so they can have or not have any. Maybe they would rather take the heat as the organization than put it all put on one player. maybe to prevent something like this from happening again they should just not have any special games. No military appreciation, no pride, no heroes, no kids day… just play hockey

IMO the whole special warm up jersey thing is complete *****. It is literally just a way to sell ***** jerseys. I think they need to do away with this practice

Absolutely nothing wrong with having pride night or any other special night. Teams can celebrate these special games without having warm up jerseys. The issue is these “special” warm up jerseys put players in a very precarious position just so the team can make a few extra bucks.

i get these kids have ridiculous offensive talent and I’m not saying that it’s not impossible to teach them defense. I just don’t know if it will take a long time to get them to play actual defense when they need to every time. We will see next season

It’s not in the CBA (and I doubt it will) so they all the right to choose. If I was a deeply religious player, and that was in the CBA, I would then fight to have all religions be promoted by the NHL/teams. If that isn’t acceptable then you would have many players who are religious (or required by their counties laws) to not play in the NHL If that’s the case then we wouldn’t have Ovechkin in the league

If Okposo didn’t want to wear it because of person, religion, or whatever why is that a problem?

I’ve heard over and over again that it’s harder to teach offensive minded player’s defense correctly. When they played the Bruins last, the B’s game personalities made it a point to say that the Bruins teach all their young players defense first. If the players have natural offensive talent then it wouldn’t be hard to have them transition to offense. I personally think the Sabres focused on offense because they had hoped score goals would translate into fans in the seats. Not expecting that the team would be utter ***** on home ice. IF DG focus is defense next season than fully expect very low goals scored. Career highs will be a thing of the past until they learn how to play a full 200 feet for a full 60 minutes.
