I don't think you quite nailed it. You can, however, bounce quarters off JW's ass, and we don't need our lady folk to see that.

I looked up John's first post. It was to brag to GoDD that he (John) had gotten some story right. John didn't come "here" with any noble intention of interacting with fans or providing value.

His contributions, with a few exceptions, are not appreciated or respected, for good reason.

I spent a lot of time before that reading in on this community to see if there was any value, while happening upon GoDD's posts. GoDD's posts provided a lot of value, in a comical way. You seem to have taken upon that torch. Always quick to snark, just like me, but more often than not, generally wrong on content.

But of course you would be resistant to having me join in, because it's quite evident my presence here provides a threat to your believed superiority in wanting to control the narrative and conversation.

I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Then again, looping through all the ***** directed my way by the likes of GoDD and you, none of it has really been proven true. And yet you keep on going.

    God bless.

I see Malcolm Subban working hard on his game in Rochester, ready to be promoted if the worst happens with UPL.

What do you think the odds are that the Sabres throw an obscene amount for maybe two years at Marc Andre Fleury, @john wawrow?

It's a valid question in that it makes some sense from a pure analytical perspective. But there's more than goes into that, and much of it coming from the Fleury end. Buffalo has previously been on his no-trade list. I'm not sure if he wants to come to a team with "mere" promise, as opposed to an actual contender. He's moved around enough over the past year where I think he'd prefer to be closer to his family in Vegas.

As much as it makes sense, I think the chances of his arrival are low. I could be wrong.

@johnwawrow, why did none of the reporters ask Kevyn how he planned on spending the $20 million this team’s needs to spend to get to the cap floor next season. It was the one question I wanted answered and the one I thought would be asked. Even if Kevyn just gave a word salad it would give us some indication of his mindset on this.

Because there was the unlikelihood there would be a clear answer on this front, or an answer in which Adams would merely say they'll get there.

I asked a similar question a summer ago, and it went nowhere and, in the end, the Sabres got above the cap floor. I don't spending $20 million is going to be too big of a lift this offseason. And I think it's best they stay closer to the floor at this point then start throwing money at players. The future is bright, but expensive, and that has to be taken into account if this core is going to continue being together.

Two and three years down the road, there's going to be some difficult decisions going to have to be made if the team maintains this trajectory.

Although I think this is one of the best if not very best local team hockey site, it would be enhanced by your opinions JW. If you think you're the only one with posters that upset you, you'd be badly mistaken plus it's easy to either ignore or just disregard the banter. Welcome back.

On a side note, do you think Anderson comes back, my personal opinion is after getting his 300th victory, family considerations and late injury he decides to hang them up??

I truly think the mind is wanting but the body unsure.

He's gone through a lot in his career and this would be a great way to leave the NHL on a high note.

He lives in Florida and I'm not sure if he wants another season being away from his family.

Then again, the lure of one more season is there, and the Sabres would surely jump at the chance of bringing him back.

All that said, I think it's best for both sides to move on. It's all about UPL next season, and UPL has an injury-riddled past, meaning the Sabres may have to rely on someone else to play 40 games. Is Anderson that guy? I like him. But in the big picture, I'm just not sure he can hold up.

A certain poster will have to change his name to Twelve and a Half, but it has to be Lindy. Sylvester foreshadowed a president announcement tomorrow, and it makes perfect sense. Terry ain't going solo.

For Terry to already have someone lined up, it would have had to have been done pretty quietly, and that would be an easy thing with Lindy.

It's Pegula perfect and Russ likey for sure.

    PA got this one right.

Yes. I'll admit to searching this one out, but gal-darn. Where's Freezing Cold Takes when you need them. hahahahahahaha

Looks like PA has some nice, really cheap real estate in your head, as well.

Yup. As I scrolled through a thread, I couldn't help but notice PA's comment, which led me to making a post. I hadn't thought of PA until PA's post reminded me of the reason why I don't post here. I've noted in the past how a limited few number of posters here make it difficult to hold a conversation simply because they have some grudge against others or a view that makes it difficult for others to challenge.

I see some of those few posters still have that tight grip on this board, otherwise, you wouldn't be here defending them.

    Thanks.

John was mentioned w/ the @ before his name in the post PA responded to, so there was a notification to him.  Pretty sure PA's post was pretty soon after the one referring to him.

If this is John's 1st time checking in, he would just see the notification now.

This is correct. But why spoil the roll the person's on.

I think you have it backwards. Hoppe is even better for this. And Hammy. And even my man Harrington. They are not interested in customer engagement.

Every time I think of coming back and commenting, PA goes and reminds why not.

I swear, I live rent-free in PA's head, given how triggered they are every time my name is mentioned on this board.

Wouldn't it make more sense to give Powers 9 of those 11 games after that so we don't waste a year of his ELC?

Based on current schedule, dependent on Olympic Break, the Sabres season doesn't end until April 29. Even if Michigan plays in the Frozen Four, Power would have more than enough time to make the jump and get in some NHL games with Buffalo.

Wawrow looks like a bum. Almost as bad as Steve Bannon, who seems to have mold growing on him.

I made the conscious decision to rebel against those who bitched about not being able to get their hairs cut because of the coronavirus pandemic. And I've stuck to it. If that makes me look like a bum, it makes you look far smaller for being appearance driven.

Oh, right. We don't get to see what "Kong" (really, i'm having a discussion with someone who calls themselves "kong," fart my life) looks like so we can poke fun at all his/her blemishes.

    Good lord.

    Does wawrow have it wrong?

I saw him this week Tweeting a mea culpa regarding Matt Milano’s signing. I couldn’t tell if that was sincere or a joke (or a bit of both).

It wasn't a joke in the least. I take being accurate very seriously and being wrong on Milano hurt.

@john wawrow I know it's your prerogative what questions you ask when it's time for press conferences, so please just take this as a humble request that I understand if you cannot or don't feel like fulfilling.

A lot of Sabres fans just get so confused about why we don't do any meaningful experimentation or changes during massive stretches of meaningless hockey. 3 straight years now, we've had a ~2+ month stretch where we know we have no shot, and almost all of those years it has been the case that we were doing okay-to-very good, but then went on a several month long free fall with no actions taken to stem it, be it trades or firings or anything else.

We want to know why they don't use this time to learn and establish new things. It is quite likely IMO that 2 of those seasons include riding it out with coaches that they plan on firing. Why not hire a guy now (between Boudreau, Gallant, Julien, you have THREE established coaches with a boatload of wins that could use this time as a very unique 2 month long training camp and boot camp for their system) to give fans hope and establish things, instead of waiting til the offseason and then having another "establishing and evaluation" kind of season next year? I understand money is tight right now, but this pattern isn't new, and I wonder if the Pegulas or our GMs have even thought of this as an idea, since they don't seem to mind letting these ungodly situations fester for ludicrously long times. They could extract value from the next two months, but once again, we all fear that that time will be wasted and relegated to the dustbin of history.

    Much appreciated either way, John.

I have the answer to several of these questions, but busy covering tonight's game. Hopefully I can get around to answering them in the near future.

Sorry to punt this down the road.

Sorry about that.  I forgot you were such a know-it-all.  Thanks for the reminder to stay away. 😉

    Wrong again. I’m not a know-it-all.

You got called out for concocting a silly hypothetical to justify your tightly gripped belief, and now you’re butthurt about it.

    That’s your problem. Not mine.

Perhaps you think it’s unnecessary, or a bad idea, however that doesn’t mean it’s off the table for ownership.

Have you heard anything regarding ownership bringing in a high level executive to help them run the team?

Once you pay me a salary and provide compensatory benefits as I get from my employer, I’ll gladly share what I have heard or not heard to answer all of your questions.

Otherwise, I guess I would have reported that information, which is what I do for a day job.

The Bills have become respectable because of Josh Allen.  If he happened to be picked one slot before the Bills, they would still be an 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 middle of the pack team, and no one would be calling McD and Beane geniuses.

The Sabres desperately need an experienced PoHO.

    Hypothetical much?

Not only do you raise a what-if on Josh Allen, but you then come up with actual hypothetical records if they didn’t land them to conveniently justify your so-called point.

You have no argument to make because you’re basing this on a made-up house of cards that’s bound to collapse because it’s not rooted in reality.

    How’s about I try one:

If I were 6-9, had an outside jumper and a good first step, I woulda had an NBA career and we’d never be having this conversation because I never became a sports writer.

    Good lord.

So is this a rumor with some legs or none? Is there any chance we get a President of Hockey Ops? @john wawrow?

Again, this is topic makes little sense. They don't need another layer of management to prove how inept they can be. The Bills are doing pretty OK without a so-called president.

What the Sabres need is someone to have a vision and authority over all hockey decisions to see the vision through. That's never been the case under the Pegula's ownership. Ever.

Thanks for all the responses, John.

You mentioned it’s not out of the range of possibility Eichel gets dealt..would you say that’s on the outskirts of that range? Or is it a very realistic possibility of moving Jack, and therefore something that’s factoring into these perceptions you are encountering suggesting it will not be a quick turnaround?

I think it's a very distinct possibility it happens, more likely in the offseason, when moves like this are easier to make. And i do believe it's been on the table since October or so but the Sabres wanted to have one last crack at seeing if they can win.

    Thank you very much, John.

I was wondering how you felt about what can fix this season, if anything.  I can't believe the talent they have performs so badly so routinely.

In fear of miracles, I don't know what can save this season.

Best hope is GMKA can proceed with trading over-priced assets for younger, under-priced assets, and go from there.

That said, no one I speak to envisions a short turnaround as Adams suggested might happen.
