But hey let’s blame his contract on him, dislike him for it, and not the GM who offered and agreed to it. Not saying you, but some fans actually dislike Skinner BECAUSE of the contract. If he signed for 5M for 4 years, they literally would like him more. It’s “obnoxious”.

In fairness, not liking players due to their contract situation vs production is fine.  And credit to skinner, it's no longer the worst contract in the league.  It's just still a really bad deal given age and what he is as a player.

I blame the nhl and players association for the problem mostly.  8 year fully guaranteed deals along with full no trade protection makes bad situations stick around a lot longer.  Especially when you are losing.

Josh Allen being brought in to run that red zone offense.

Is that 1 yard line quote from Adams?  Might be getting Vegas and Flames to panic and up the offer a final time.

Or Eichel's agent.  Either way, it's good that this might finally be coming to a conclusion.

And yeah, it is nice that this being the story pushed nationally may up the stakes.

I think what he is saying though is that if Jack unilaterally had the surgery against the Sabres wishes.

If jack does that, he risks losing 50M.  If he was willing to do that, it would have already happened.

My read on this is that jack thinks he should be able to have experimental surgery with no risk to his contract at all

Didn’t know that but I believe you.

Jack would be crazy to do that though, all that guaranteed money! That would be the ultimate putting your money where your mouth is move. But it would just be so financially irresponsible.

That doesn't make sense from both sides.  Jack risks 50M, sabres lose an asset.  This needs to end in a trade.

He's not going to play for the Sabres again. I'm pretty certain of that.  We're already a dumpster fire, they needed to take the best deal available. I don't see how we are not in a worse position today than we were earlier this week.

I could make the argument that having 10M freed from the cap has a ton of value, especially in a flat cap world.  Don't think we need to win the trade, as long as we gain cap room

I don't think any of us are qualified to have a take on his condition. Non contact skating is obviously much different than taking body checks.

But aren't we well past the 12 week 'waiting period' of physical therapy and rest?  What's the next step if that didn't work?

Fusion surgery, which has a track record that 50M future dollars can be banked on.  I would assume if jack waived future liability that he could get his surgery.  Guarantee his camp isn't willing to do that.

He probably wants to get treatment he feels is necessary for his injury. Can't really blame him for that.

He's basically asking for an experimental surgery, and seemed to be doing so very early in the process where wait and see is the medical gold standard.

I don't blame terry and Kim at all for this....he's asking for 50M guaranteed to toss a piece of plastic into his spinal cord.

This right here is why I am so down on the next few years.  It is pretty obvious to me that this team is now being shunned by the veterans around the league.  This means that we are going to have to make due with what we draft and unwilling players with no other options.  This is going to be a disastrous environment to develop young players.  No high character vets, no NHL caliber goalies, no sense of loyalty.

The fun in hockey is the entertainment value.  There is no entertainment value in what is about to be unleashed.

Isn't this better for us in the long run?  Free agency in hockey is awful.  I'd argue the only time it truly benefits you is when you can add veterans for short money and term when you are looking at making a Stanley Cup run.

Count me as thinking McCabe and ullmark both got too much term and money.

Pagnotta says there's no concern between the Panthers and Samson's agent about getting a long-term deal done. Samson is "absolutely pumped".

Sam would be stupid to not leverage a long term deal in Florida.  State tax matters.

I haven't read all of this thread, so apologies if this has already been hashed out.  While he's a legit NHL talent, is he really worth term at say 7 or 8M per year for 8 years?  Go back to last offseason where a bridge deal seemed responsible.

Let's not oversell it. If he buys in I will be happy.

I don't think he was mailing it in the last 2 years.  I just think he's shot.

I think any and all possibilities to get his corpse off this roster need to be looked into.  An expansion draft and a team with no cap hits as of yet - would it take next year's first to be rid of this?

Or swapping picks plus maybe Johnson?  I don't see how we can be successful with a replacement level player making 9m for the next 6 years.

Didn't he quit immediately after we sold off the remaining of our talent for picks?  Theory doesn't jive with the timeline.  Murray didn't waste all of our assets until well after Patty left.

Quit or was fired. I believe the latter. This Wawrow tweet doesn't pass the sniff test. It makes Pat look worse if true.   Hiring anyone with the express purpose of furthering your own agenda is the worst kind of leadership.

For the hire a president and get out of the way sentiment....this is the danger that exists with that line of thought. I still think it's the direction we need, but you must select the right person.

Spectacular for NE.  There is only upside.  AB will thrive, or be shown the door without having cost the Pats a penny or jeopardized their culture.

The Pats are bigger than AB.  The Pats have all the leverage.  He’ll walk into the locker room as just another interchangeable part in terms of value to the team.  “We won with Chris Hogan.  Shut up, work, or go home”.  There will be no Gruden pandering.  There will be no series of escalating fines.   If he gets in the face of Bilichick, 52 guys will kick his a**.

He needs them. They don’t need him.   Whether he recognizes that or not, I have no idea.  He’ll star, or go home without leaving a trace.

The Pats are the best organization in four sports.  Whether it’s circumstance or genius, we can debate.  That they are, we cannot.

Depends quite a bit on how you qualify an organization as best. A lack of ethics from the very top down to the ball boy makes me disagree.

Personally, I'd take losing on the field and acting like human beings off of it. Botts may soon join the scrap heap, but his handling of the lehner situation makes me proud. How do you think the "best org in 4 sports" would have handled that?

I hope it gets to live on beyond just this year as a third jersey. That will give some people the home whites they want for at least a few nights.

You wonder why the NHL doesn't allow 3rd and 4th jerseys. That tied to the goat head for alternates would be fun.

Limiting jersey configurations just seems like a lost chance at more money.

There's not a definition of journalist that's loose enough to qualify here. She works in corporate communications. PR. Marketing. Etc.

Who cares?  Not sure if we said the same stuff about Ray, May, Robitaille or Lorentz.  They technically count as journalists too? Do you really expect the next version of Jim Kelley to be hired by the team?

This reminds me of Harrington being critical of Lauren Hall. Her job was not to be a hard hitting journalist, but the Twitter tough guy went after her of all people.

Simplify this....someone who has a PSE paycheck will never meet the definition of journalist that many want here. That needs to be filled outside of the mothership.  That said, they are still producing content that is technically journalism.

spotrac.com. One T. You'll have to hunt around like I did. There's not one page with the Sabres' cap space shown year by year, at least not that I could see.

Do you really doubt that the Sabres are that much under the cap since 2011? Putting ***** teams on the ice saves a lot of money.

And, no, my point isn't that Terry is cheap. It's that if he gets credit for non-salary cap spending like eating coaches' salaries, fixing up the lockerroom, scouting, etc., it should be pointed out he's saved a ton on the salary side to invest in those things.

This isn't counting the buyouts, is it?  Leino, Ehrhoff and Hodgson.  That should close that 55M gap.

The only time I've ever wavered about Pegula not using his money fully for the good of the team was when he supposedly refused to pay O'Reilly's bonus prior to trade.

If memory serves, the regehr trade was sweetened by taking the corpse of Kotalik too.

I'd rather see more money thrown to the fans to make our experience better. Lower concessions and items from team store. Give more to STH's.  Inject life into the arena, have areas where kids can play. Get live bands. Be creative, have fun.

Go down by the glass near the benches during morning practice and again at pre-game warmups. A player may throw your son a puck.

Seeing recent social media, have your kid make a sign asking for a stick from a specific player.

In terms of other random cool things for a young kid. I think around lunchtime city hall lets you up on the observation deck. It is a great view on a clear day.  That isn't for from your hotel.

The buffalo zoo isn't far and is also a decent time as well.

Hope you guys enjoy and come back when the team is playing better.

Thanks guys we just went to Peral Street Grill by our hotel it was good. Going to try one of the spots tomorrow. I Heard there is an open practice tomorrow does anyone know if this is the case.

No idea about practice, but if your hotel is by Pearl Street definitely go to Gabe's gate on Allen street for wings.

Let us know what your kid likes to do (hobbies, interests, etc)....by morning we can probably help line up a fun day.
