  1. These young kids need to learn now while it's tough to help them later when it's easier. The difference between a good team and a great one are those teams that don't quit and win the bad games and pull out the upsets because they believe they can.

I'm too much of a pessimist that we'd ever get McDavid anyways. I don't know if Eichel will have that much of an impact. Hell no one knows for sure if McDavid will. So even if we finish last and lost the lottery again who knows. Plus that's only 1 guy. The Penguins didn't win the cup because they got Crosby. They won because of Maulkin, Stahl, Fluery AND Crosby (among others). I'm not really convinced we're one young "generational" player away from a cup. Would I like McDavid? Sure, but the chances of us getting him even if finish last are only 20% unless one of our other first round picks (Islanders, Blues) also finish in the lottery, and I don't see that happening. Not unless Tavaras goes down again.

I think this is good for the young players we already have and therefore good for the future.

    Edit fixed some typos.

  2. Really depends on what she plans to use it for. I'm not a fan of the kindle fire. It's a very customized android tablet. If you want an android tablet I'd just get a Nexus 7. I love my first generation one.

If she mostly wants to read on it, I would look at a Kindle paperwhite instead.

If she already uses Apple, the new iPad mini might be the way to go. I wouldn't get a first gen mini though as they are inferior to even the original Nexus 7.

The kindle app, on my nexus tablet works well. I read on it a fair bit. The only drawback of it compared to the fire is if you want to stream Amazon videos.

  3. I think both players looked good last night. At this point I'd take Hodgson, because I think we can replace Kassian easier than getting a top 6 center. I still think we need more depth down the middle, and would have preffered trading away a lot of other players instead of Kassian, but presambly Kassian was all Vancouver was willing to trade him for that Regier was willing to give up.

Hodgson has been solid in his 3 games with us, and I especially like his defensive play. That's something we've badly lacked at center on the top 6 since we lost Drury.
