I’m going to bring in the board’s CBA Guru on this @Taro T, but I always thought under the existing CBA a player had to be on a team’s roster at the that season’s trade deadline in order to qualify for an 8 year deal. So Toronto would be the only team that could do so in Marner’s Case. I could be wrong though.
