I know as fans we follow this stuff every day, hour minute, but it is getting exhausting....

Seeing your comment here made me think of how i feel with trading cryptocurrencies 24/7. Now that is exhausting lol... This Jack stuff is entertainment for me. Plus there's also only like a handful of teams to even consider with Jack... makes it easier. All this losing for years & caring game in and game out... thats exhausting lol

I definitely respect KA for holding this long, think we all should.

Wonder what happens if we can’t move him and both sides are still fighting over the surgery come October?

i get what youre saying but he's holding in large part because other teams are concerned with Jacks injury & are hesitant to give up anything 'good' for him. So its also just the hand KA was dealt as well, and not just KA HOLDING THE LINE imho

  3. If this is hockey heaven, can you imagine what hell is like?

At this rate i say we're 5 years out from possibly contending for a playoff spot.

2 more years of Kevyn Adams until we fire him & then 3 years of a new GM that hopefully knows what he's doing.

Everyone was all giddy about the return for Risto... i bit my tongue. Because that pick in return is only worth something depending on what we did with it & who he becomes. But if we wanted a goalie, we could've gotten Cossa or Wallstedt there & gotten a better (different) prospect in return for Sam from Florida. But instead we reached a little for Rosen & got back a 7th rd G prospect in Levi. When we already have UPL & Portillo & the 2 we could've drafted are better prospects anyways imho.

Theres really way too much we could say & criticize but where we are today reminds me of when we tanked in the 1st place. Its like we've suffered thru all these years, just to end up at the same place where we started. Its just that back then we had no idea what our future held, whereas now we know its hopeless lol.

    hockey heaven guys, hockey heaven

I don't believe his value could tank any more than it is currently.... chances are his neck heals (+90% of those types of injuries heal on their own) and he rebounds after a normal offseason of training and a full training camp.

I wouldnt think so either but i wouldnt have expected how this past season played out either. Jacks not getting the surgery he wants, does that mean the injury wont fully heal? His souring attitude &/or injury concerns aside, but IF he plays for us  next year & it doesnt go well, it would absolutely hurt his value more than right now.

If 1 season has hurt his value, going 2 seasons removed from being a "generational talent" would do nothing but hurt his value more.

Tbh idk how anyone could disagree with that bolded. It'd be 2 seasons lol

Right.   My point is don't sell low this summer (injury concerns, coming off a lackluster season) just because the NMC is looming next offseason.

That makes sense... but it also works both ways. Jack could play next season here & suffer another injury or have a poor year by his standards, and his value would tank even more.

    Rikard Gronborg:

I just caught that youtube streamer behind the channel Top Shelf Hockey, & he opened up the video by saying we're interviewing Gronborg again. Came on to the site here & see your lovely thread here. He's always been an intriguing candidate to me & many others. Also has that Swedish connection, which could be beneficial in more ways than one.

I'm glad he's a name on the list. We need to look at everyone imo

  7. I love me some Ryan Miller... especially since we share the same name & I've had the chance to hang out with him & his brother, father & mother a few times. I will always have a special place in my heart for Millsy.

I do think Miller deserves to be honored in some way, but i don't believe he deserves to have his number retired... AT ALL!

Especially not when theres other players who perhaps deserve it more. Like 1 of the Ramseys/Ramsays or Andreychuk (dare i say Housley) haha

But in terms of Sabres history & our record books, i do think that he deserves something. Maybe a nice commemorative plaque somewhere?

Franchise leader in goaltender games (540)

Franchise leader in goaltender minutes (31,661)

Franchise leader in career wins (284)

Franchise record for most wins in a season (41 in 2009–10)

  8. Oh boy...

Tbh I don't really expect too much from it. Probably just an update on Jack's health & the usual quick summary of the season & "we need to be better" stuff. But I'll spice things up a bit 😛

Coincidentally this video popped up on my YT feed just now:

Anyone see Jack being moved this summer as more of a possibility? Last year i would've said hell no but now it feels up in the air.

Feels like anything is on the table & given our history I suppose it should be.

  9. almost spit out my drink reading this. Multiple coaches play Sam at wing. Us fans exhaust each other with the Center/Wing debate for years.

Granato takes the reigns.... "yeah i like him at Center"

And just like that Sabrespace lore is altered forever.  What a day, 1st its 4/20, then dogecoin & now this?

Wait, maybe that explains it, maybe Granato is celebrating too hard today?

    Sam a Center? You don't say 😛

Like I said.  Just about anybody ...

This could be the most important of any and all changes.

I don't see them bringing in anyone other than real hockey people to run the hockey department.  No rookies and no idiots.

No rookies & no idiots seems like something we would've shot for from the start.... Here's to better luck this time!

Watching Granato's pregame, I love his communication style 123% more than RFK's.  Also, he seems to actually like the players on the team.

I agree. But i also remember most of us saying the same thing about RFK vs the coaches that came before him.

But it makes total sense this would be the case with Granato, as he should be able to relate & speak to the boys better, for all thats worth.

  12. Everytime i think we're reached the lowest point, we end up going even lower.

I thought the bankruptcy & team almost moving was the lowest point. The tank years were the lowest point. Last year was the lowest point. Last month. These past 2 weeks.

I just hope this lowest point today is really the lowest point & the only place we can go next is up.

I'm mad as hell & can't take it anymore

The Sabres have 6 in 24. 32 remaining means 8 more wins at their current pace. 14 < 15. And they have already played the bulk of their games against NJD and NYR.

However, the further along in the season we go, the more the Sabres are going to run into "Taxi Squad goalie needs a start" and "Bergeron needs a maintenance day in this wild schedule"

Still, the smart money is on the Bills because Ullmark is still several weeks away from anything per Ra "he's not injured" Kru.

But at the same time, when we face another teams backup goaltender, isn't that when they usually get their 1st career shutout? We can't even really count on that with this team lol

  14. Honestly i dont know what else one could expect. Its been a trying start to the season (to understate it), you finally score to make it a 2 goal game & well, I wouldnt expect the boys to be going around like its Chariots of Fire or something. Of course we'd like to see more energy or passion out there, but surely theres bigger things to focus on than how high Olofsson's teammates lifted their sticks after a goal?

Dont mean for that to sound confrontational or anything, just saying haha

Regardless we need to have some success out there quick before the whole season implodes

You may need to update your thoughts on John Tortorella, unless you have a time machine and want to hire a coach from 20 years ago.

There’s a reason why the “kick ass” coaching philosophy isn’t around anymore in any sport.

I hear that all the time but Bill Belichick is known to put his players thru hell to toughen them up, he was pretty successful. You look at what the BILLS are doing with their "process" & culture. I don't think its hard to make the leap that if you want a hard working team, they need to practice like a hard practicing team. You can't be all soft & coaxing to your players & then expect them to be dogs & go thru walls for you.  I think the best coaches would have elements of both in them, knowing when to be good cop/bad cap so to speak.

But our teams have been soft & weak & low effort for years it seems now. Perhaps thats because our coaches arent more like a Torts... idk. At this point i think we're all lost on what to do. All these years of losing becomes too much after awhile
