You’ll all be fine. JC. Dramatic much? If you think all hope is lost then let some other city have your team...you’ll be crying rivers of tears once you don’t have a team anymore....maybe you guys will get in on the 2049 expansion draft?....

Sorry for your loss....assuming u were a nordiques fan.    I hate the thought of settling for being big league but never winning the big one.  Sounds so Darcy or Ralph Wilsonish.   But yeah sure it's slightly better than not having a team.

  2. I spoke too soon about notifications.  My email on the site was from adelphia.net!

Yeah a whole generation came and went without them winning.  We aren't Boston.  Maybe the fallout from Antonio Brown is still subconsciously in my head.   I just dont see us winning a championship.  Hope I'm wrong

  3. Hello, my name is Fushetti, and I'm a Sabres fan.

I'm closing in on 40...i'm coming to grips that my hometown teams, Sabres & Bills will never win in my lifetime.

So this year, post 10 game streak,  I've really been having a hard time with my first love, The Sabres.   Last year was without a doubt (and i'm sure for many of you) the least enjoyable Sabres season for me.   The lottery win kept me hanging on.  Then the streak... i started to feel that feeling i hadn't felt in so long.  Excitement, hope, optimism, OMG PLAYOFFS?  (Jim Mora where are you?)   Then the effing freefall since.   I'm back to square one.   I am back to not really caring.

I'm really having a hard time justifying any sort of time/attention/money toward this team any longer.   The Tim Murray era on has killed my passion for this team.   I cried the day that the Pegulas brought back old the old player on alumni night in 2011.   I drove in from Albany for playoff games and screamed my head off to the point to lightheadedness when Drury scored against NYR.   I went to Carolina and Ottawa in the ECF's.    I still have season tickets living 300 miles away.

Just wondering if anyone else feels like me out there.   It never seems to get better as a Buffalo fan.   I've been in Albany since 2003.  I adopted the Red Sox as a baseball team and they've won 4 championships but its not the same as if my teams from WNY won.  (Save it Yanks Fans)

I'm sure i'll post this, forget i posted it and never see a reply like i always do.   This site really needs a notification system.

    Go Sabres.

  4. Everytime i see one of those highlights from 05-06 El Crusho is front and center.  Hilarious.

I don't know about you guys, those two seasons 2005-2006 & the year after are tremendously bittersweet for me.   All the potential and then utter mismanagement.   It took 6 years after that to fire Darcy... Just ridiculous.  I'm surprised I still care and am still a fan.   I made a quote yesterday comparing an earlier time in my life to today and it was "things come and go, but the Sabres are always there"   I don't know if thats sad or not.  Feels sad.  haha.

  5. Holy ######!  Where've you been?

haha.  The last few years of Darcy put me down hard.   Then the tank... ya know.

Realistically i'd have to say a mixture of getting married, divorced, married again, add 2 kids, plus work = way less time on sabres space.  Plus, El Crusho moved out of Buffalo.  I figured after that there was no hope in going on.   j/k.

  6. I still can't believe Darcy got Pittsburgh to take Barnababy off his hands and give him Stu Barnes in return. And don't forget Grosek for Dumont and Gilmour. The one big blemish on Regier's record, though, is his overpaying for Chris Gratton. He covered his poop like an obsessive-compulsive cat, though, didn't he? :)

yeah, but i think he made up for Gratton by stealing Briere for Gratton straight up unless your cat reference means the same thing... ;)

Brett Hull scored at 14:51 of the third overtime, putting a rebound past a sprawled Dominik Hasek on the edge of the crease as the Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup outlasting the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 at then Marine Midland Arena. The overtime winner gave the Stars a 4 games to 2 series victory. It was the second-longest overtime game in Stanley Cup finals history and the longest to decide a winner -- and a disputed winner at that. The Sabres protested that Hull's left skate was in the crease as he scored to make Dallas the first Sun Belt city to lift the Stanley Cup.

Sabres fans everywhere throw up in their mouth at the reality of the Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup.

Blown leads in Sabres playoff history (partial list)

1979 -- In a deciding Game 3 at the Aud in that terrifying preliminary round the NHL used to stage back in the day, the Sabres lead 3-2 going into the third period but allow the Penguins to tie it to force overtime. Early in the overtime, the Pens win it. Hmmmm...

1980 -- The Sabres are trying to come back from three games down to force a Game 7 back at the Aud in the semifinals against the Islanders. On Long Island, the Sabres lead 2-0 early but give up five unanswered goals to lose the game and the series.

1983 -- In Game 7 at Boston Garden, a pair of early Ric Seiling goals has the Sabres up 2-0. The Bruins tie the game at 2 and win it in overtime on Brad Park's fluky goal.

1985 -- The Sabres lead a deciding Game 5 in Quebec 5-3 with nine minutes to go in the third period. The Nordiques score three in a row.

1997 -- The Sabres lead Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals 3-1 in the second period at Marine Midland against the Flyers. The Pylons score four in a row to take Game 1 and wrest home ice from the Sabres. They never look back.

1998 -- In the Eastern Conference finals at Washington, the Sabres "go for it" in Game 2, trying to take a commanding two games to nothing lead but let a one-goal lead slip away on Peter Bondra's controversial tally late in the second period. Caps win in overtime. At least we can blame the refs for this one.

1999 -- In the Cup finals, with another chance to "go for it" after winning Game 1 on the road, the Sabres lead the Stars 1-0 midway through the second period. Dallas wins 4-2 to tie the series. In Game 3 (see above)...

2001 -- The Sabres lead Game 6 in Pittsburgh late and can advance to the conference finals. Lemieux. The Sabres lead Game 7 in the third period and can advance to the conference finals. Some dude I forget. Then Kasparaitis.

    2006 -- No reminders needed.

    Don't say you weren't warned.

I'm sure every team has had their share of these situations....
