Mike Harrington: Even as prospects prop hopes, Sabres bid good riddance to 2021

‘The prevailing feeling in the organization is that much better times are ahead. Still, it was easy to feel the irony Friday about the site of 2021’s final practice. The Sabres worked out at Boston University’s Walter Brown Arena, home of the BU women’s team. It’s a five-minute walk from Agganis Arena, where Jack Eichel became a one-year legend in 2015 and helped lead the BU men to the national championship game before becoming the Sabres’ No. 2 overall pick that June.’

Sabres Notebook: Skinner, Hinostroza could return; Dahlin rues Olympic decision

‘No other players will be coming off the list for Saturday’s game and Ellis will continue to run the bench while Granato remains out. Also sidelined are forwards Dylan Cozens, Mark Jankowski and Zemgus Girgensons, and defenseman Jacob Bryson.’

Report: Sabres’ Vinnie Hinostroza, Jeff Skinner leave COVID-19 protocol

‘“Both will be available, if that’s the direction we decide,” assistant Matt Ellis, who’s subbing for head coach Don Granato, told the paper.’

Jeff Skinner, Vinnie Hinostroza practicing with Sabres

‘Neither Hinostroza nor Skinner have officially been taken off the NHL’s COVID-19 Protocol list, but since they practiced, there’s a chance they could play Saturday against the Boston Bruins.’

Hinostroza, Skinner return to practice in Boston

‘Neither Hinostroza nor Skinner have been officially activated. The team’s four other players in COVID protocol – forwards Zemgus Girgensons, Dylan Cozens, and Mark Jankowski and defenseman Jacob Bryson – have yet to return to practice. Bryson was the last to enter protocol on Wednesday.’
