It was mentioned almost as fact on sports radio in New York the day Nolan was hired by the Islanders. Nolan’s wife, Sandra, says the rumor makes her feel sympathy for Hasek’s wife, Alena, more than herself. “From a woman’s point of view, I felt bad for her,” she said. It never bothered Sandra because, she said, “I knew it wasn’t true.”‘

Sabres next innovation o keeping scoring down?
‘Still, Buffalo’s not going to come near the projected NHL team salary cap of $44 million. Darcy Regier has consistently said so. And it’s probable that Martin Biron, Taylor Pyatt and Mike Grier will be shown the door. Grier will be the toughest to part with, but his salary, and the pay hikes of Afinogenov, Daniel Briere and Ryan Miller simply won’t allow the Sabres to keep him.’
