‘Written off at the start of this year as one of the worst teams in the league, the Buffalo Sabres proved themselves to be the best. The team is truly an inspiration to all of us, for the Sabres fought adversity throughout the year as player after player was injured. Their character shone through in each difficulty, and they never gave up – not even in the final seconds of Game Seven.’

Proud of those Sabres
‘But I’m still really mad that we lost to a team like Carolina. Not their players, they’re flat out good. It’s their apathetic fans. I’m angry with the NHL for making me hate a city I’ve got nothing against, simply because it never snows there. They don’t know what it’s like to have a stranger shove your car out of a snow bank taller than you. They don’t know what it’s like to want something so much you can taste it, even through gritted teeth. How it means more than any other endeavor to thousands.’
Vanek finding his way
"I wasn't surprised that some players that had been around longer had passed him by (during the playoffs)."'
No Hollywood Ending for the Sabres
'Did you get choked up? Did you fight back a tear or two? ’Fess up…we did.'
